  • This May Sound Stupid, But Can You Use Candy Melting Wafers For The Filling?

  • @cherryblossom2466 Not stupid at all, that would be fine

  • oh god those look good :P

  • "Like" a wooden spoon lol it is

  • I made these last night and I'm not sure I'd make them again. Mine also turned out very dry, even with the proper amount of food coloring. Also, I'm not sure what went wrong with the color but they look like little meatballs haha!

  • @bratalishus I agree, these were not a spectacular success. I probably won't make them again either.

  • i made a a batch of cookies out of the batter of just red velvet cake betty croker and when they are done i use some powder sugar and put it on to it sooooo good you should try it and they reminded you of christmas

  • they looked like red blood cells before you put the white thing in HAHA

  • lol i luv your theme song!! who sings it, your husband or u got someone to do it?

  • @bratzgurlsweetie231 It was made for me by a You Tuber called Audionautix (Jason Shaw)

  • Sorry for asking a dumb question, but do you use metric cups or US cups? There is a slight difference between those two. :/

  • @HandOnYourHeart I think I have some of each and use them interchangeably without problem.

  • @yoyomax12 Allrighty then! Thank you for replying :) I've now made two batches of those cookies and have to say, I love them and so does my family. :)

  • How about adding an egg when you add the vanilla? That would help with binding the wet and dry :D These look yummo!

  • I'm trying to moderate the number of cookie videos I watch, because I think I gain a couple of pounds every time I watch one. God forbid I actually eat any of them. LOL

These LOOK really impressive, and they make a great display, but from your comments and others, it seems like the recipe needs a little work.

  • Tried these tonight. My dough was a bit dry too despite using food colouring. I drizzled them with white chocolate and boy do they taste good! These add a bit of pizzazz to my Christmas cookie plate. Thanks as always Tammy. You are a true Canadian treasure!

  • im making these right now, and the batter is basically red flour. i tried adding water. it was un believealy sticky i coulnt even get my thumb out of the cookie. tried more flour, and nothing helped.

  • @caaseeeyxo Like I said the video, I wasn't impressed with these cookies, I didn't like the texture of the dough very much, I thought it was because of the lack of liquid in the food colour but now after reading your comment I'm not sure about that

  • yummmmmmmmmmmm :) x

  • I made these with my daughter the other day cuz I also have the book and I used gell food coloring and all we could taste when they were baked is the colorant and they were really thin too. They were not as dry as yours and we used everything the same ecept the red dye. I will not make these again. Yours looked really yummy though! Great video!!

  • PLEASE! More Christmas Cupcakes!!! Like Santa, presents, christmas tree, etc! (: "Deocorating Ideas"!!!!! Be greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays!!!

  • i was dreading, they'd have egg in them.. but they didnt!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks heaps tammy, i love your videos!! have a safe and fun holiday :))

  • Your videos are an absolute pleasure to watch!!! -Charmaine BC, Canada xo

  • what about putting a hershey kiss in the middle? :)

  • @Gymnastlovespurple13 I have made cookies with the kisses before (peanut butter blossoms I think they are called). The white ones with the stripes would be great for this recipe

  • 1 person hates food

  • Hey Max! I just wanted to say that you've really inspired me to take my baking to the next level and decorate them a little more lavishly. I'm visiting my high school Monday and I am making my old teachers your apple cupcakes, I am so excited!! Thank you for the easy to follow tutorials :D

  • omg I couldn't sleep last night this intro song kept looping through my head, LOL

  • Cool

  • If you had a hard time with this, I am going to fail miserably :(

  • @AEreviews Not if you use the right amount of food colouring first try :)

  • ohemgee i have tht book tooooooooo

  • i wanna do it but my ovens broken T^T

  • @yoyomax ok...Thanks for answering my question:) I love your videos!!

  • I want to make these sooo bad but I don't have that much red food coloring, so is it okay if I try to mix colors to make red?

  • @willbelieve618 Red is a primary colour, you can't mix colours to get red. Nothing wrong with making another colour though, like green

  • Best...........Mom.............EVER

  • i wonder about the red food colouring in red velevet anything it concerns me because of he sensitivity of a lot of children to the highly coloured foods in particular red food colouring that can make children crazy. Also if u used a softer filling like cream or custard it might soak into the biscuit making the biscuit a bit softer ~ other than that DUNK the cookie into a cup of milk/tea/coffee lol lol lol

  • biscuit = cookie

  • @sooouuuuper I would hope that the parents of the children with red dye sensitivity would not make these. My neighbour's son was like that, red dye made him hyper.

  • i like i like i like i like i like i want to eat = DD

  • Before I sat down to watch this, I went to get one of the ACTUAL cookies you made right in front of us. I have been eating it as I watched. Yes, it is a bit of a firm cookie (you explained why), but good! I was trying to find my exact cookie on the cooling rack by matching up the edge cracks, but I had eaten too much of it to tell. Thanks, Tammy. - roc

  • @popparoc46 They were tasty, but just a bit too crunchy. I think that the overworking of the flour was the main reason for that.

You made me smile when you mentioned trying to find the cookie on the cooling rack :)

  • i luv da design. cooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!

  • This looks so good.!

  • I like the simple idea of putting the zip lock back in a little plastic bowl. Great tip! The cookies look festive and delish!

  • For the white Chocolate chips can we use candy melting wafers?

  • oh i will be making them in the morning :)

  • these look yummy!

And I'm such a sucker for red velvet cookies! I will try these out! :D

  • Every time I watch one of these videos, I'll sing along really loud and obnoxiously for the first 10 seconds, then stare at the screen and drool for the rest of it :D

  • @Isabellustration Loved this comment! Thank you

  • @Isabellustration me too!

  • I know what I'm making for family dinner on Christmas!! But I was wondering...would it be ok to use buttercream icing?? Please answer

  • I have to tell you that everytime your theme starts playing...I have to sing along to it. Is it wrong that I know the words so well? LOL! Merry Christmas Tammy!

  • Just a little hit, if you had a bit of vinegar to the batter, it causes a reaction with the red food coloring & makes it a bright red. I've made it using both liquid and gel food coloring.

  • @Appiebunny Thanks for the tip, I will try that next time

  • Hello! It just wanted to say thankyou for posting so mang videos. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year so you and your family. They are very lucky to have you. Have a wonderful, blessed holiday!

  • Omg new video :)! I love your video.Your so amazing and talented..Where did you learn how to bake so good :)xxx

  • That is very different...and seems would be fun for kids to make...thanks for posting

  • @yoyomax hi! I know most of your videos are about baking...but I was wondering if you could do a video on how to cook a good steak?!??

  • @Bigsis5970 Truth be told, I'm not a very good steak cooker :)

  • They look so good! Need to make these :D

  • If i were to substitute the butter for 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup butter. Will it make the cookies softer? They look absolutely yummy, but i tend to like softer cookies. Thanks:)

  • @laydelil1 I don't think that adding the shortening would make much of a difference for the softness of the cookies. I think it is the amount of flour. They have designed these cookies to hold their shape during baking for the filling and you sacrifice softness a bit for this. A tip I read says to store them in an airtight container with a half a slice bread. The moisture of he bread will soften up the cookies.

  • Thanks for posting these as I do want to try them for Xmas. Did you bake them at 350 degrees? Was wondering what brand is your mixer--I like the beaters on them. No-more questions from me.

    Jolie

  • @whitsally Yep 350 F (I say in the video, but not in the description, fixed that). The mixer is a Hamilton-Beach and it has rubber coated beaters, they are a lot less noisy and won't scratch bowls.

  • They do look very pretty and very scrumptious!

  • Oo I was wondering what a thumbprint cookie is

  • loooks so goooood !

  • mmm looks amazing,happy holiday's!!

  • oooo sounds delish

  • Your recipes are always refreshing keep them up girl!

  • yumm

  • i have another question x) thanks for making the tutorial on the tinting of the white chocolate, i'll definitely buy some oil-based food colouring. anyways, for making sure that butter is room temp, what do you recommend doing? microwaving for some amount of time? or leaving it out of the fridge overnight? thanks again!

  • @xxpinkalicious It will come to room temperature fairly quickly, especially if you cut it up into chunks on a plate (if you are in a hurry) We use a lot of butter in my house, so I keep some at room temperature all the time as it never sits for very long.

You can microwave it to soften if you are in a super hurry, but it has a tendency to melt inside out and you don't want melted butter for the recipe, it will change the texture.

  • @yoyomax12 thanks for answering my question again! i always love watching your videos :)

  • @xxpinkalicious Not many people thank me for answering questions, it is appreciated. :)

  • Yummers :)

  • Thanks for sharing a recipe I can actually make in my country :D
