wow, great animation project you put together, congratulations, excellent job, not too crazy about skeletons or halloween, but I luv animation and film.. you got 4 **** stars out of 5
Amazing. When you used the ghastly man and woman dancing among the skeletons it was CRAZY!!! It added a certain depth and story to the song that was not there before. You are an artist, and I hope you will continue to produce art. Good luck in your endeavors.
This is awesome! I love the Sims 2, and I know how irritating it can be to get them to do exactly as you want sometimes. I see you used dance boxes? Those things are awesome. I loved the original idea for this song, but you have re-created it in a modern sense. Great job all around!
i think its amazing, but the dancing just doesn't fit to the music at all the skeletons are dancing like they are my parents on a 'wild' party. i can imagine the skeletons making magnicifent ballet jumps when the music gets all intense and a skeleton doing a brilliant solo, or a pas de deux! but thats just from a dancer's point of view haha ;)
Wow, beautifully done! It is probably difficult, but it would be cool make the skeletons a little different frome ach other. Different heights and such. They now look too unnaturally similar. I love the part where they play the violins, and are all playing different pieces(even their fingers are moving!) As for the dancing, I love it when they waltz in pairs. The bit earlier on I think it's just a little too modern what they're doing. But I don't know how much is possible with Sims.
I love zombie Sigmund Freud dancing with a lady... its peculiar how his beard stays black while his hair and face are affected by the lighting... makes me think Sigmund Freud must have some secrets about his beard...
This is really cool! I love the combination of interests that come together in this idea!
My orchestra teacher played this at Halloweenish time :P Im ten and I play violin and I hope to be able to play this someday! Really super great song + animations!
@hshawn00 what you could do iis have the skeletons dancing in a style similar to the time period of the music itself, that is if you can with the program you used
@hshawn00 On the contrary, the skeletons are most suitable for this song (which I like), I somehow cannot imagine this song without skeletons. They are fine, in my opinion, they should stay, however, the problem I see is the way they are dancing. It is as if they were performing some mass exercises. It is not gruesome, it is not grisly nor macabre. This is the problem. Otherwise, it is very impressive.
@hshawn00 No keep the dancing Skeleton, it was Saint Saen's intention. As inspired by the original poem. And the xylophone was to imitate the bone's sound.
@hshawn00 I think spirits would match more with the song, too. I also think that the spirits should be waltzing with each other and each be different kinds of people from all walks of life.
@hshawn00 Hey, if you're open to a little more suggestion, how about making the choreography of the skeletons less repetitive? It would help if they responded to the cues of the music a little more to add to the drama..... & I think at least some skeletons should stay because the song is all about bones dancing with the Devil in the pale moonlight. Just my two cents. This one shows real promise here, it reminds me of Disney's "Fantasia" :o)
@ID114783 Hey man just curious, where'd you go to school at. Maybe it was a popular song to play especially in school, I don't know, but my music teacher did the same thing. I went to Viollette Elementary in CA.
A good effort and much like I was hoping to find while looking for a video to go with the music. Hate to say there was a definite Macarena feel to the dancing though which is a shame! Also, you've credited Liszt in the closing sequence...
I've played most of the "Carvinal of the Animals" Suite and I found it fairly boring, but this song I really really like. I'm gonna have to make this a Halloween screensaver for next year, great video too!
@188043 I love Saint Saens but The Carnival is a little bit boring (maybe the 2 final movements are way better). His best works, the Rondo Capriccioso, 3º Symphony, 1º Cello concerto, 2º Piano concerto and 3º Violin concerto.
@Adri58 Thanks i'll have to listen to those...and yea i played viola so we always had the boring parts anyways but the Carnival seemed to be just a little bit worse than most of the other stuff we played
I'm so glad to see this. My music teacher,Ms. Primo, introduced us to this in either 3rd or 4th grade. We acted a play out in her room. One person was death and all others were skeletons or monsters(*wow.kinda deep for elementary). I have been looking for this song for awhile. Thank you for posting/creating.
Enjoyed the video-- the music though, is by Camille Saint Saëns, not Franz Liszt. Liszt composed the "Mephisto Waltz." He also used (Like Saint-Saëns) the DIes iræ chant in his "Totentanz"
I'm an elementary school music teacher and I've been trying to find fun videos to show my students to get them to listen to music more actively. They REALLY enjoyed this video and I'm so glad that I could use it for the same class that made you love this piece in the first place.
I am a music teacher and I really think your version is fantastic. Any chance I can buy a copy????? But the music is by Saint Saens not Listz otherwise it is beautiful.
I remember hearing this song is like 4th grade in music and then every grade after and the high school orchestra played it every year for Halloween except this year-when I join the high school orchestra. Sigh.
This is beautiful! I can't believe you did it with the Sims! It looks like you were inspired by the cartoon version from the 1980's, well done adaptation!
Crank it!! Lovely SIMwork! I am a classical flutist, and fell in love with this very song first time I heard it on classical radio. This was, for me, about 200 years ago.
nice, very good job. the violinist is very spooky! i love the dance that the skeletons are doing, it looks so familiar, though! it is a character dance off of World of warcraft?
I have been looking for this song and video for 20 years. My elementary school showed it. It's so cool to finally find it and just bizarre to see that it has stuck with other people since grade school as well.
Great job! I am a teacher and I want to show my students this! They'll love it! I played this song on the violin with my orchestra when I was growing up! :)
@turtlespameater Ummm I didn't do the animation. I used the the sims 2 game to make this video so I was stuck with the animation I was given and I happen to think the animation looks pretty good.
death looked badass walking at 7:32. it shouldve ended MUCH more tranquil like the peace of the grave or something ... macabre. the credits felt like a sweaty movie theater.
Thanks for this. Of its kind it's very good and must have taken many hours. If I could make an adverse comment it would be this: How can you allow such excellent music to be followed by such complete rubbish in the music at the end? It completely ruins the atmosphere built up by the video. Sorry to complain.
@Offshoreorganbuilder I have to agree. A very, very fine performance of The "dance" was selected for this excellent video. The credits music was jarring and extremely unpleasant.
