  • Is there anyway you can send me the sheet music to this?

  • You are absolute garbage. There's no way you've played professionally, EVER. You are a disgrace to orchestral music, the tuba, and music, in general.

  • Considering the variables (sitting on stairs, by memory, maybe some more) It sounded good, so good job :D

  • The notes at the top of the phrase sound out of tune to me, otherwise, Bravo!

  • to KMCraw that is- love your vids dylan :)

  • why dont you post a video so we can see how much you suck

  • Don't play so much with vibrato! It's better when you play with a better articulation an more power...but so...no..I'm sorry

  • I can play Fountains of Rome, Symphonie Fantastique, Hungarian March, the Planets, Prok. 5 and so on and so on...for some reason, I always mess this up in auditions and performances. Any advice on how to prepare this more efficiently than what I'm doing?

  • do you play these excerpts in a room by yourself or do you invite people to watch you?

  • and give me a break...the man studied with tommy johnson, a man who was as much larger-than-life with his playing as he was as a person. (the dude was huge!) besides, how many of us have studied with greats and went on to do other things? A LOT! yeah, we could pick apart his playing, but think about dorothy delay. towards the end, that lady could barely play a note to save her life...but she was still the best teacher in the world. so, just cut this guy some slack, alright?

  • well, i DO play tuba professionally and anyone who tells another fellow tubist to 'give it up' is doing a GREAT disservice to the family of tuba players. i don't agree with this man's religion, which leads me to believe that i wouldn't agree with his politics, either...but none of that matters because i embrace him completely as a colleague.

  • Bravo, Bravissimo!

  • You havent got the sound for such a big Cc tuba, buy yourself a 4/4 size Cc tuba and it will be much better ; )

  • I would like to say, to people like 'KMCraw' (KMC stands for K-Mart checker, I'm guessing)and 'williamtuba' the following two things:

Firstly, julle twee naaiers is op sô moerse 'n stal opgevok, dis klein wonder jy spandeer die beste van jou lewens op die kak kanaal. You mock his tuba playing, I mock your linguistic ability.

Second, I should think Jesus Christ kinda takes preference, wouldn't you say.

Dylan - dude, mad skills needed to pump a giant metal conch like that bud, keep playing! =P

  • I never claimed to be a linguist. This claims to have played tuba professionally. It's great if he wants to toot his tuba and keep it to himself. But no, he has to put himself on youtube in order to get attention. His sound and just how he pushes his valves tells me he never played beyond a high school level.

  • Fair enough, you never claimed to be a linguist. Then again, I never claimed to be one either.

Apparently, the issue is that you take exception to him posting on Youtube because his skill level isn't appealing enough to you.

On the other hand, you seemingly feel zero remorse posting your slander on his page, regardless. That's more annoying than someone playing less than virtuoso style but posting anyway.

If a 9 year old kid claimes to fly, falls on his ass and posts it here anyways? Exactly.

  • You can hear my tuba on more than a few soundtracks, jingles, and commercials. I posted these videos for fun, when I had more time. I work as a television producer and film composer now, and have very little time, and hence haven't posted any videos lately.

If you don't like them, turn them off. It only takes a click.

  • I don't need attention, and that is not why I posted on YouTube. Actually, sometimes I wish I didn't post ANY videos, but I keep them on here for all of my POSITIVE fans.

  • Actually, most high school tubists aren't as good as you might think (note:there are exceptions, and these exceptions are a little bit hard to find)

I know because I have listened to them.

And who cares how you push your valves?

As long as it's fast and smooth enough, it doesn't really matter. May I tell you that Dylan King's tone is far better than most high school students please? Come on.

  • Where is the air? That's the question!:D

  • he did play professionally

  • I no longer play professionally, my friend, but will never give up music. You should think about giving up hatred.

  • You never did play professionally

  • KMCraw, Tubadylan did play professionally, he was just out of shape...Dylan, weren't you playing these excerpts at 2am in the morning memorized not having looked at the music in several years.

Tommy Johnson would not have let ANYONE in his studio who was NOT good

  • That's absolutely right. If you want to hear some beastly playing and musicianship, just listen to him play the Bach cello suites on his F.

I know about being out of shape all too well. I was a very good tubist, played principal tuba in the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra and played with the faculty brass quintet at Auburn, but you'd never guess that the way I'm playing right now. You can see the raw talent there in Dylan's video though, and that's absolutely the truth about Tommy Johnson.

  • @drxtuba debatable.

  • You say your not a tubaist in one of my earlier posts, but you have a Yorkbrunner CC....and a good F tuba.....for somereason I think you are a real tuba player who might have held a huge job

  • I have had the great pleasure to play on some movie soundtracks during my days in Los Angeles, and have also been blessed to perform with some of the worlds greatest musicians, but my job now working for Jesus Christ is the hugest one imaginable. :)

  • hehe

  • im baritone/euphonium

  • Maravilloso fragmento de una obra maravillosa. Por lo tanto, sos maravilloso. (Translate:)

Woderful Excerpt of a Wonderful Music. Therefore, You are a wonderful musician.

    Greetings

  • i play trumbone

  • Sorry to say this man...but it isn't very clean at all; not to mention the rythm isn't solid. You sound pretty good though.

  • Hey, I'm sitting on some stairs at 3am playing an excerpt from memory that I haven't practiced in 12 years. Whatcha gonna do?

  • Hey man, I didn't know you were playin' at 3 in the morning. I meant no offense by it.

  • None taken. I just wanted to make the situation clear. Years ago when I was studying to be an orchestral player with Tommy Johnson I most likely played it much better! :)

  • What tuba are you playing that on...Im curious, it sounds pretty good and you make it sound easy.

  • Thank you. It's a Grand Orchestral Hirsbrunner 6/4 "Yorkbrunner" CC tuba.

  • wagner did write very well for the tuba. he invented his own kind of tuba

  • ho toh joh, biatch.

  • If you like you can check my video of me getting a strike on my Feb vacation.

  • Did you try playing polka on the tuba before?

  • No tubist gets away with NEVER trying polka. So yes, I have played polka on the tuba many times.

  • YOu ROxors. Nice tone, and in keY! wonderfool~!

  • Yea That´s the way! Tuba for ever

  • Hi! Where are you from? How many years have you played the bass?

I play the bass too (and the electric bass, and all brass instruments) but I think I play better ^^.

And sorry for my english, I'm spanish XD.

  • I never seen a guy playing on a stair with a tuba. AWESOME XD
