  • Here's a note to all beginners. Playing video games in general not only strengthens your Finger and hand muscle, but also increases your hand eye co-ordination. Guitar hero does help with rhythm, but when it comes to real life, its very different to the game so don't think just because you can play master of puppets on expert doesn't mean you can play it in real life instantly...

    Just a tip.

  • @mactavishc Hahahaha this!

  • i have been playing uke for years with no intrest in guitar but i have a 1970s fender strat and i played this its well cool mate cheers

  • Sooooooo good. Love you.

  • im having real troubles with alternate picking

  • Is this supposed to be easy for me if I've been self taught for 8 months?

  • I played guitar for like 4 years my dad tought me songs by view i never played by tab and never learned scales just some widely used chords E e miner A a minor G D and C and c minor .. so now that i stopped playing and just jumped back into it metal is difficult to play because i was tought to play without a pick ... so its like learning guitar all over again

  • But how do you alternate pick every string? Like going down up down up for every other string, so down on the E string, up on the A string, down on the D string... etc. really fast? How do I do that?

  • I have the same guitar!

  • i cant ever get that stupid pick to come back over the string whenever i try this :( or on any other songs.

  • id like to have an iron maiden sticker like the one on the guitar

  • I have that guitar B) its the best I love the distortion And it so cool and metal

  • riff from 4 season cover by alexi right?? :D

    like this

  • Gentleman shirt :D

  • I really want that guitar

  • i have no idea why but that little riff sounds so familiar like i herd it in a dream. its pretty awesome.

  • @ApocalypticalDesiple Kinda sounds like Wasted Years by Iron Maiden.

  • tnx dude...!! <3

  • play slow will help you with the speed later on trust me.

  • Sounded best on A string

  • this is awesome thanks a lot man <3

  • @ScreamMode1337 hey dude all beginners are gonna suck.. It takes alot more practice and patience and youll get better.. Plus you just need to find something that will motivate you

  • that would make a epic opening to a song ;)

  • I can't make my guitar sound like that! Fuck my single coil pickups!

  • Very good lesson! Simple short and well explained. Tux shirt is win!

  • Bad quality but it's still not hard to do because you explain it really well, get a better camera and you could make tons of money off of these tutorials

  • hey man, awesome lesson! Ive ben playing for 5 years, but my parents pulled me out of lessons about a year and a half ago. Ever since then, ive gone off track. My guitar teacher was teaching me about things like this before i stopped taking lessons. Any advice on how i can start learning again? I really ned to learn how to solo.

  • Hey man, this is a very cool lesson! ive just created some beginner courses that you might want to check out on my channel. Its the Hub of a new website >> RexPearson. com << would love for you to check it out and let me know what you think

    Rex

  • I think i invented that XD

Been doing those trickies for months, the hard part of it is just the alt. picking if you ask me:P

  • yes exactly it has helped me out gitbad u are a great teacher ive learned more licks from u then any other teacher because u litterally break every part downin sections bless u beyond words for ur lessons

  • It actually amazed me how quickly i picked this up :')

  • es un amp fender frontman 25r? O_o

  • omfg i live this!

  • i love your guitar

  • awful!

  • I practiced this for 2 days.. I just can't do it... I can only do it slow and barely even that...

  • I'm one of those people that just CANT play... which pisses me off so bad... i love guitar, i can think of how to play but my hands are coordinated behind the lines of terrible. I have been practicing for 2 years and I can't play worth shit, my family has a shaking limb bloodline issue where even if you are extremely calm your hand will shake if you try to hold it in the air. This shaking makes it impossible for me to strum correctly... I'm musically handicapped in the guitar department.

  • @ScreamMode1337 I still have faith in you - keep trying!

  • @ScreamMode1337 go for the drums maybe =3

  • @ScreamMode1337 I don't know if your problem is due to some physiological problem of yours, or if it's just tension that's causing your hand to shake. Either way, try checking out the Principles of Correct Practice for the Guitar by Jamie Andreas; it's a method designed to help people address problems in their posture and in the amount of tension in their hands when they play (among other things), two very common culprits which prevent people from making progress on the guitar.

  • @ScreamMode1337 u could start wit bass or acoustic so u get the hang of things then move onto harder things ;)

  • @ScreamMode1337 NEVER give up.

  • @ScreamMode1337 yea I play for 3 years now and i cant play guitar, but you will learn it. im sure

  • @ScreamMode1337 try playing Nirvana songs, chords may be easier to grab is you have issues with your hands

  • @ScreamMode1337 take lessons

  • Right on this was exactly what i was looking for! My friend back home just got his first guitar and i wanted to find him something that was easy to learn and sounded cool! and this was perfect! rock on!

  • it looks so easy but its probably fuckin impossible

  • @griffin456456456 Nope it's not. I have been training alternate picking for a couple of days and I learned this in 1 minute ( no joke.) Really nice and good exercise thanks alot gitbad!

  • ....it cant be just as easy as it looked..

  • hahaha...it has 69 dislikes xD

  • sounds like "wasted years" by Iron Maiden, doesnt it??

  • @MX3401 Defiently all string bouncing licks do really.

  • how can you focus on how many times you've picked the string, when you speed it up? i find it difficult to focus picking at this point

  • That almost sounds like wasted years!!

  • @MrCobra285 No wonder, i didn't see the maiden sticker on his guitar lol!

  • great easy lesson my man, thanks a bundle

  • hey can u tell the amp setting that u r using and which guitar u use

  • sounds like maiden

  • is that black out puck ups

  • awesuuum! tyvm! Good practice method

  • gracias for the vid bro

  • Great. UP THE IRONS \m/ i Love this riff to it's " easy " to play and it's sounds F****** GREAT! but. Could you tell me your AMP settings of your Marshall AMP please? I've got the same than yours I Love This amp \m/

  • D String..:=)

  • hay what realy works wel is using the low "D" string with tyhe guitar in drop d tunung and instead of just using the 1 string bar 6,5+4 to make a powerchord (sounds realy heavy and demonic great for death metal)

  • Continued... Hopefully one day I'll be in a metal band & I'll owe it all to you... :0)

Oh, & thanks for being so slow for beginners,lol... You're the best!

    Thanks again, Davina... :0)

  • Hey(sorry I don't kno ur name), I can't thank you enough for being such a big help.

  • hey. i got a problem, im love the riff? is it? dunno. but hey. my question is, how is your bottom e tuned? is it regular coz mine is acoustic, (im getting an ibanez GSA60 soon) and it doesnt sound right.

ps: youve earnt youself a subber

  • @TheTomcheese Yeah its regular standard tuning E A D G B e - your guitar might be out of tune or it might be that I'm using an amp for my clean and distorted tones! Thanks for subbing, many more vids coming soon with a new website too!

  • @gitbad thanks. I re-tuned the guitar and now it sounds similar, apart from the sound.. lol. acoustics suck

  • Sounds like the song wasted years from Iron Maiden!

  • Fantastic!

  • man youre awsome!! how long do you play metal guitar??

im starting in a few days to learn this wonderful thing!! and this lesson is the first ill do!!^^

sry for my bad english im from austria

  • wasted years! :D

  • This is awesome man - I dunno if i can get that kind of sound with my Cube 20x though, I'm using a schecter Damien-6, its an awesome guitar, but I'll def have to play around with the amp..

    Thanks again!

  • @ChrisTeamProdigy i use a cube 30 and to get a decent metal sound just put the bass about 9 treble bout 7 and mid about 7. put it on r fier. gain up to about 1/2 to 3/4 and the volume wherever you like it :L maybe a tiny bit of delay dependin on what your playing. hope that helped.

  • great lesson dude ,,, I was wondering if you can post a video about amps and how to make your guitar sound like metal ? keep up the good work :)

  • Cool, Thanks :D HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE PLAY GUITARS AS FAST AS HE DID the Bigenning

  • what is pentatonic ?

  • hey wasted years is one of my favorite songs ever!

  • very similar to wasted years; with slight difference in frets and rythm

  • nice man

  • isnt that wasted years by iron maiden??

  • @evil666maiden If it is, he's playing it wrong...

  • After this it just looks so easy! O_o

Anyway thanks for this great guide!

Now i can show my girlfriend i actually learned something on my guitar xD

  • that should be the micheal myers theme

  • nice riff

  • thanks dude

  • Is it ok if I use this in a guitar song I came up with? I really like this riff. I added other stuff too and made my own patterns of this riff as well.

  • Interesting style. I'm going to have to give this a try. Does it matter if its played in standard tuning or whatever? Cause thats what I play in most of the time. So far I got a Dean EVO Special in flame red, a Jackson with custom flames, and a Cruzer Crafter ST80 electric guitar with a 30 watt Traynor amp and a DigiTech Metal Masters distortion pedal.

  • @jedimastergarcia87 Yeah its playen in standard tuning! And those flames will make your guitars sound even better!

  • @gitbad

    Hahahaha

  • @jedimastergarcia87 i got the same EVO lol its awesome. dual humbuckers with a set neck!

  • gibson explorer with EMG's nice

  • haha ^_^ anybody else notice this sounds like the intro to "wasted years"?

  • i just tried this and im not as fast as him. im an absolute new beginner

  • I just saw this exact lesson in Spanish, both are well worth watching. Many thanks

  • _I_

  • wasted years much lol?

  • E string l,,l

  • this is awesome, great work !

  • that's iron maiden's wasted years for sure

  • @TheEviJellyMan666 It's just a fucking natural minor scale, goddamnit. It's gonna sound similar. Retard.

  • this is great thanks =D

  • cool shirt

  • If you play it on the low E string, and playing power chords instead of single notes ( but still only play on one string when you play the open notes) it sounds really awsome! At least that is my opinion...

  • Ha he's using the same amp I use when I practice xD Great video. Helped alot!

  • the tux shirt is formal, yet casual lol

  • it says im formal, but im also here to party.

  • All he needs is a top hat with a picture of a top hat on it :D

  • @branin38 it says i wanna be formal, but im here to party.

  • like wasted years, thus the iron maiden on his guitar ;p

  • tahts what i though rfl

  • Thank You so fucking much =D i wish they were more videos like that here on youtube !

  • thats totally great !!! xDDD thanks man !

    5*

  • 1, 2, 3, 4.. :D

    ))

    ..good vid thanks ;)

  • its part of an iron maiden song

  • Wow.. If youre so early in the stage of learning that you dont know what the fret placement is you might want to learn that first.. then the notes.. then some basic chords and what notes they use and why.. and then some scales along with knowing their notes and why.. I wouldnt even bother with this. go watch some yngwie.

  • really kool!!

  • telling ya people, black nylon dunlop picks...etch some deep xs into them and learn with them. if thats too thick then just use those orange ones they give out at guitar center. theyre a little slick but theyre the perfect thickness.

  • Sounds like Death Angel's 'The Ultra-Violence'

  • a helpful tip to bigginers thin picks work best for really fast alternate picking, leave message if this helps :) note this is not a bigginer cheat method

  • disagree. heavy picks are best. atleast for me but its personal taste.

but beginners! thin picks arent good for fast picking. its too floppy.

  • yeah i like the black nylon dunlop picks. dimebag used to talk about them a lot too and i learned from him to take a serraded knife and etch some exes into them for way more grip and theyre perfect. my friend still uses those flemsy mikljug picks i started him on and theyre worthless for advanced metal guitarists.

  • @kaze3x it seems that it is mostly preference. I myself prefer a heavier pick.

  • reminds me of Maiden's Wasted years^^ Stay Heavy ! \m/

  • dood i totally agree haha xD i thought it was at first

  • why does every time you strung down and up its shoet mines like hela long y plz reply

  • thats great i liked this lesson!

  • thnks

  • search drop d metal madness

  • thnx soo much. i only been playin 1 day bt i'm lovin this more than walk!!!

  • Nice Sound!

  • EMG pickups they are great!

  • Reminds me of Vivaldi's Summer from The Four Seasons.

  • Smells like Wasted Years by Iron Maiden :P

  • lol 2:27 G-String. Cool idea for an easy riff though.
