@Roofer750 Bullshit. I read the instructions carefully and followed them to the letter. I quit roofing about fifteen years ago after having installed countless roofs. Number of callbacks: Zero. Number of shingles blown off: Zero. Number of unhappy customers: Zero. Number of times I asked for your opinion on my roofing methods: Zero.
Roofer750? Seriously? You should change it to "PissyLittleGirlyboyWhinerLetMeSuckYourDick750" if you're going to be leaving dumbass comments aimed at non-retards.
100% correct.I was called in to figure out why shingles were stress fracturing. Two other firms had said lack of vapor barrier and shingle manufactures defect .I asked if install was in winter(YES) and which idiot was dropping bundles to loosen in pack,or opening bundle and dropping ends and shattering glass fiber mat.CASE CLOSED.40 year roofer.
All you idiots should pay attention to what he has to say because if you did you would be way ahead. The only true correct way is to pyramid your shingles. You won't see the vertical lines when the shingles age. There is also no strength in racking. And you don't have to lift each shingle to install last nail !And you will have less waste from cutting every other 6" piece off rake.40 year roofer.
im no profecionalz so i racked and overnailed and overlayed and didnt mix the pack of shingles ....ohhh but i did use a waterproffing on my finishing nails so i'm not as dumb as you think i am but its ok i'll let you win this round
but you know what it still worked and looks great and will hold alot longer than the 3/4nail process
your a wanker and have no idea what your talking about only time not to use racking is Landmark or presidential or some other goofy interlocking shingle/shangle.
go pull your cock some more fucktard, it's not as if we're dumb enough to lift the next coarse of shingle at extreme to damage it... second rate roofer
wow, i haven't even heard of that, let alone see that type of installation. its the contractors fault that they let their workers install it like that. im a contractor i should know. that is just poor workmanship.
With newer homes having complex roof shapes the best way to keep your lines straight without minimizing installation time is to rack.
If you are a do-it-yourself person with tons of time to burn and installing a single slope a day, then use the pyramid method.
Open the shingle packages and shuffle the shingles to ensure no patterns form after install. I have installed both ways, the end result is the same.. no pattern effect. Racking is faster.
I've racked a bunch of roofs. They still look great after sixteen years. Case closed. By the way -- they were GAF shingles.

Clearly this person has never installed a roof.

Cambridge shingle no but with three tab shingles, how else do you keep your keylines straight. That six inch step method just screws them up.
