you could spend a life time arguing what is punk and what isn't. The truth of the matter is that punk is so much more than clothes and music, it's a lifestyle and attitude. MxPx has been in the scence for over a decade and they are up front about who they are. They are christians who don't abide by the typical rules and don't care what people think. They make good music and they work hard. Call it punk, call it whatever it doens't matter and I don't think they care.
