I saw this production when it opened at Glynedbourne in, I believe 1969 or 70. I knew it had been recorded but this is the first time I have seen it. Many thanks. I second pproust's request for the beautiful "Ardo, sospiro" and that meltingly beautiful final duet. Please if you have it may we have it?????
Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics to this song? I've tried looking on the internet but I've been unable to. It's very beautiful! Love listening to it.
Gorgeous - thanks for posting - probably my favourite part in 'Calisto' - Where'd you get the clip? - like others have said - is there a DVD recording out there?...
Hello there Coloraturafan! A thousand thanks for posting this! I have been waiting for ever for this to become available commercially! Does anyone know why it has never been issued on dvd? If you have any more of this (either of Baker's arias would be especially welcome!) I would be forever in your debt! Your contributions to this site are invaluable. Thank you!
I am so glad you posted this clip. Do you have the whole opera? This is a side of Janet Baker rarely seen. I was shocked after I watched this for the first time. She is often so reserved!
What utter JOY to see this treasure from Peter Hall's 1973 Glyndebourne production with the heavenly Janet Baker and young and beautiful Ileana Cotrubas in Cavalli's masterpiece La Calisto
Another priceless gift from La Generosa aka Coloraturafan.

I found Ardo, sospiro on "dimitovajunkie" " site. It is great. You were so lucky to see Dame Janet in person. Sue

@willym , Sorry "dimitrovajunkie" has Ardo, Sospiro. Same production. It has been a favorite of mine for years.

If you have the sublime 'Ardo, sospiro', please post. If Puccini had written in the 17th century, this aria would be his!

I think this duet is from Act III Scene 7: and is called "Dolcissimi baci " (Endimione, Diana)

Actually, it's Giove (in disguise as Diana) seducing Calisto.
