  • (continued) she had no physical therapy whatsoever, she was completely paralyzed from the waist down. To say that all of these examples were mere chance healings or the body kicking into "rapid healing response" due to the brain "thinking its being healed" is just ridiculous. I used to be an athiest like you, and a devout one at that, but i saw these examples and then started praying for others, and that was proof enough for me that God does exist and prayer actually does work.

  • ive seen physical miracles take place in my very own church through the power of prayer and have even prayed over others and seen a physical response. I've seen prayer heal bloody noses, broken arms, cancer, joint damage, inflammation, and nerve damage all instantly (within the couple minutes that we are praying for them. I have even seen someone who was in an accident with a drunk driver and who was paralyzed for twelve years get up out of her wheelchair and walk through just one prayer session

  • "If Jesus is answering your prayers, he should be doing a better job". LOL Well said.

  • You really think that? Well obviously prayer is not heard by god unless you first humble yourself and ask for forgiveness. He is not going to perform miracles for those who do no trust or have faith in Him. Believe what you want but when it all comes down to it, I have nothing to lose, even if I was wrong (which I have NO doubt in my mind that Jesus is Lord.)

  • I'm not one to argue and I'm not going to say that I've had miraculous things happen to me yet. But, I will say I have seen people healed of cancer and tumors in our very own church. Also, even non Christians cry out to God through prayer in there time of need because it is built in us that we need a savior from the sin and junk in the world. The only problem is that those who have not asked for forgiveness of their sins and acknowledged that their really is a God will not begin to see those pr

  • @CrossXillusions You just made an empirical claim. Do scientific trials and prove in a controlled setting that 'prayer cures cancer' because you would revolutionize the entire history of medicine by doing so.

You say people 'cry out to God in time of need because it is built in us...' What about the fact that God is just a construct of our culture and is placed in our minds by those who teach it to us? Babies do not cry out to god. Men cry out to god.

  • Well said! If there was any real effect from prayer at all it would have shown up in the world by now. With faith or without. And for those few who do succeed and get what they want in life, it's probably either good luck or determination and hard work.

  • Indeed

  • Quite right. Theists will tell tall tales about prayer and its effects, but those tales never survive scrutiny.
