  • 'There's a shiver in the dark it's been raining in the park but meantime.'

  • funny- before u even starin playing sultans of swing...i was like pfft- sounds more like knopfler than b.may,,,haha

  • These are ALL Brian May tones. Listen to the early Queen albums and you'll find them all there somewhere. In later years he stuck to his favourite tone most of the time.

  • beautiful sound i love the fact it is so much more than brian may tone . . just goes to prove how versatile a guitar the red specials are i love the clean country sound . . .i like em all well done nice playing

  • jesus guys read the name on the video . . . so much more than brian may tone

  • no no no no no...

  • hahah his names fred

  • i love sultans of swing!

  • yeah just buy a treble booster and plug into that vox behind you

  • do you recomend any treble booster?

    thx

  • at 0:34 you have queen sound

  • Nay, no Queen sound here...

  • Noup, no Queen sound.

  • I think the purpose of this was to show that a BM guitar is more than just a 'queen tone machine'. If you want the BM sound, it'll get you part way there (just add 1 or more AC30s, and a treble booster), but if you want to use the guitar for more than that it'll do pretty much everything else too.

  • brian creates multilayered harmonies with crystal clarity precision and makes it look easy two things wrong with this video 1) if your gonna post a may video than at least use a greg fryer trebel booster and 2)let your playing come from the heart and than you got queen sound

  • u should buy a treble booster :)

  • your tone sucks... =S

the guitar doesn't make the whole sound, it's the one who plays it

  • which version of the guitar is this?

  • This shows how versatile these guitars realy are...

  • Play ROCK.

    !!!!!!!!!!!

  • no queen sound, sorry

  • No Queen sound !

  • not

  • Nope. Try making a whole orchestra from one guitar then I might be impressed by you :P

  • nope

  • This is not the Brian May's sound.. but the clear one is a very nice clear sound, and you play nice ;-)

  • wth???? man fu all yeah rock it

  • Ok, People.. please READ the info.. it says he SHOWS you that you can get tones OTHER than the classic Queen sounds from the Brian May guitar, come on, quit complaining how it doesnt sound like Brians sound.. because that was the POINT..

and if I am wrong BHM153, then please correct me.. thanks

  • Nope

  • No, doesn't sound like Brian at all.

  • you must work very hard to play as queen sound

  • Sorry, it isn't a Queen sound. I know the guitar has a variety of sounds I own one.

Queen sound isn't complex: 3 Vox AC30s (minimum), chorus pedal, treble booster, six pence, and of course the red special.

  • or now a digitech brian may pedal with any electric guitar style

  • ok the RedSpecial.. but you can have a very close sound saving money ;-) only one AC30, a treble booster and a good stereo delay (DL4 for example). The stereo delay can give you two different time delays (on the same amp of course) so you can use it for brighton rock (the "direct" sound plus two single channel delays exactly timed, one half than the other) or for have a natural chorus effect (two very very close delays) Brian himself prefers to use delays to have a natural chrous effect.

  • If anyone is interested on how Brian gets his sound, check out his Starlicks video where he explains his set up.

I forgot to mention that the amps are always on full, with the volume controled at the guitar.

  • Also worth checking the CD ROM from guitarist magazine from november 2008, Brians tech, Pete Malandrone, is interviewed and walks you through the guitar rig for the 'cosmos' tour, which i believe has been uploaded to youtube. check it out....

  • I just don't hear that Queen sound...sorry...

  • I can hear it sounds right to me. Just because he is actually playing good guitar dosent mean he is not getting a queen sound. All he has to do is open it up and he will sound just like all the others RS guys. I like the fact that he shows what other tones the guitar is capable of. Plus I am a fan of compressors and this guy must be as well....Good Tones Fred!

  • nice run thru different styles. i especially like mr.sandman, makes me wanna watch back to the future where the song is played. great showing of the red special's capabilities. the possibilities are endless...

  • same here ha im watching back to the fiture right now ha my fave film lol plus this guy should play a damn Queen song so we can see if it has the tone or not

  • Sounds muddy. What's up with that? Is it the guitar? what kind is it?

  • The title is wrong, anyway, bri's tone isnt that hard to emulate, you need a decent red special copy, a mid boost pedal, an ac30 thats cranked with your mids up on that as well, and a thick pick and youre pretty close. Then steal brian may's hands, and youll have it.

  • nice guitar shame about the sound, not very queen, sound is all in the playing

  • nothing like the queen sound!!!!

  • totally different

  • no, nothing like the queen sound, sorry.

Nice playing, but not Brian's tone at all!

    Just sounds like a strat....:O(

  • I agree.....without the distortion it sounds very much like Mark Knophler's sound.

  • knopfler !!!!!

  • not

  • not
