what i got from the video was that feist was the stepmother, cause her role is referred to as "the mother", of cillian murphy, and the wife of the older man. cillian and feist may have had a relationship. i think the older man either decided to commit suicide by drowning (maybe with feist) or leave his home for parts unknown across the water

that is only my interpretation but i just thought that sharing it might help those who are "don't get" the story

She isn't the stepmother. She's the woman in the photograph of the old man when he was young. Both he and she are young in the photo. If you've seen the entire video, then it makes more sense. She was frozen in the lake for reason's unknown (I think she was going to die after child birth or sometime after as her child didn't know her, it seemed). The father froze her so she could see her son grown up and spend one more day with her husband. At the end, I believe they both went to the lake.

I will be honest she has a nice voice but some of her music lacks depth.

I got the impression that the young couple received bad news about the girl's health, the elder person might be time, her ancestors or even death and he came to take her away, like the water takes everything on its way when in a storm or a river.

Death can be compare to the water, it is part of nature, it is very close to our existence and no one can control it, it flows without no ones permission.

The storyline is that they can't let go of the fact that their mother and wife had died. She left a bigger impact on their lives than the realized. They're trying to thaw the memory of her. I don't know if that helps, but its my best guess.
