Data stick will get you on the phone with arrogant customer service reps on a daily basis. Connection gets dropped every few min for hours at a time on some days. DO NOT BUY WIND PRODUCTS....they suck really bad
He makes it look like so much fun to use. I got this with T-Mobile's $30/month prepay plan so I can't complain it's not advanced enough. It's a shitty old phone, but I don't really do much with my phone so who cares
I don't recommend this phone!! I have it and it's touch screen is really unresponsive. I haven't had it that long and the back lights don't light up anymore, the lock and camera side buttons don't respond, and the green call/answer button doesn't work so I have to use the touch screen which sucks to do everything. DOONNT BUYY ITT :)
Found one of these on the sidewalk one day, no battery, T-mobile SIM card, and when I turned it on via charger, the screen was broken, any help on that? :(
@KeithWasHere1 deleting texts which is such a pain, and you we asking me about texting, that's not so fun either. you can't turn the phone landscape way and make it a full keyboard, the fastest way to type is using T9, i seriosuly need to press 4 different buttons just to press the letter "z" and don't even think about typing in capital because that takes twice as long, seriously sometimes i don't text my friends back because i don't want to deal with the annoying phone. oh and yeah, it does
@FriendsTilZeEnd i was just going to get it to replace my MP3 player cause it has a touch screen, and lots of functionality (hear you can watch tv on it?) and i can get it from a friend on eBay for 20 bucks.also some of the widgits are useful to me as well..wish it had a Osilliscope widgit or app that would be awesome..and even when my other phone i never text.. except perhaps 1 word answers...yes ,no, go away lol...im not exactly an telephonophile.but thanks for your input i appreciate it.
@KeithWasHere1 yeah i got it in the mail the other day...man..its been a learning curve i swear...only thing is it only gets like 2 or 3 bars and most of the time goes into emergency call function....dont know whats doing that...but aside from texting its been fun...learning to put stuff back onto the widget bar took me for ever to figure out..but all in all its not been a bad expereince...but like you said texting with it is a pita
@KeithWasHere1 autocorrect words like "dont" to "foot" ugh i hate this phone so much. I have an ipod touch 4 so i dont use this phone for pictures, or music so i cant say much about that, other than the picture quality sucks butt. the reason i got this phone was because it was cheap, and that was around a year ago, its probably cheaper now, i got it for around $30. Trust me DO NOT get this phone, it's just going to leave you with a big headache. I'm like begging my dad to get me a new one,
Respond to this video... honestly i rate this phone a 0/10 actually no more like a -999/10, please use your money and invest in a better phone you will be really happy you did! <3
i just need this phone to call, text, and use it as my music player and moment capture. i don't need any internet or anything. buta, is it a good phone? i dont have internet, so im just using it for the basics
got this as a christmas gift in 09, kind of an unwanted gift but when my internet connection goes down it's nice to be able to use skype, though that's not even really exclusive to this phone. i don't use it very often, but when i do it's usually to send an instant message or text. the touchscreen becomes extremely unresponsive in a very short amount of time, rendering it pretty much useless. when using the max resolution for the camera, it seems to morph people's faces, too.
@FriendsTilZeEnd why so?..does it autocorrect or just difficult with a touch screen? im thinking about getting one cause they are cheap, but just on the fence about it...how would you rate this phone?
@KeithWasHere1 wow i was just thinking about this today, and i will happily tell you everything about this phone. Your right it is cheap, and there are maybe 2 good things about it. first of you CAN go on facebook on this phone using the Opera Mini app, which is not blocked in many schools so thats a good thing. and secondly it makes this cute "Hi" sound everytime you take a picture, but that is it. i cannot receive picture messeges, your inbox limit is like 500 texts then you have to start ...
@tysontomaszewicz u need to buy a memory card than use the usb cable to go to import files i think then u drag the music into the memory hope i helped
Compared to my previous phone, this phone is great. It is true that the touch screen freezes occasionally and it took me a while to figure out inserting the sim card. If you're finding a touch screen phone for $90 without a contract, though, you can kind of expect what you're paying for.. most others cost twice that much.
There is a location in Kitsilano and Yaletown in Vancouver, and at many Blockbuster video stores.. there is a 50% off promotion going on too for another week!
The Huawei is Chinese crap. It contains numerous faults in the phone. A SMALL example is downloading updated Google Maps. If you do, you can say good bye to your gps feature forever. You can´t undo the damage due to programming errors. This is what happens when you allow 2 demensional thinkers trying to engineer shit. buy japanese or canadian. forget chinese! there´s a good reason why their number one industry is slave labour and counterfitting. they suck!!
I had this phone for one week before it broke. Its packed with features but the screen and interface is horrible to use. Its decent for the price but I wouldnt recommend it.
Not helpful. I can't for the life of me figure out how to enter text when it's necessary. I get the field/ box, but no option to tap in letters. Why is that not demonstrated? I get the option to do everything but alpha (letters). I already hate this phone. Then again, I didn't really choose it. My finances chose it.
sorry for this Noobish question, but what is postpaid? is it like similar to what koodo does? : O cause i was gonna get a koodo phone, but the phones they have seem to have many problems.... i have a fido phone ( LG neon) its prepaid and im wasting so much damn money... And my stupid Lg neon has problems and i only had it for 5 months! i never dropped it, it never dropped in water either!:\
The google maps feature - is online access required? I'd like to be able to go online, and load a 'static' map to my phone (like printing, minus the paper)
it depends on the phone, i think they offer you some credit if you switch to them, like minutes or something, and you keep your number. It actually depends on what type of fone you have. Call them and ask.
Yes, it needs to have a sim card. Also, you can only use phones that are unlocked. Most (all) Canadian carriers lock their phones to their respective network.
@SuperAwsomefication I'm considering getting this phone, but my only problem with it is the setup of the texting keyboard. Is there another setting for the keyboard? What I mean is that I would rather the keyboard show the letter letter-for-letter, instead of three letters for one button. Do you know what I mean?
Glad this company entered Canada, We need competition. Remember when Fido was still a great wireless provider, Hope Winds doesn't end up like them. Now it's time for more phone selections and wider coverage, especially in Ontario.
@LeynaKieu there is a qwerty keyboard. While typing in T9 mode you tip the phone horizontally and the accelerometer will notice it. It will turn into a qwerty keyboard.
Hmm, no qwerty's on this one? The U.S. version of this phone for T Mobile has a qwerty for texting when you tilt it sideways, its picks up the tilt through an accelerometer
@HotRedMonkey one more quick q. have you tried tilting it sideways while texting? I know there is no menu to switch to qwerty, but maybe if you tilt it on its side it will switch to qwerty (at least this is what happens with the Tap). I wont bother you anymore though. :D

Hello WIND!
Some questions:
1)Can you type sms/web replies in QWERTY? It seems like this phone is touchscreen but it only allows traditional T9?
2)Can you multitask? As in, listen to music, browse the net, and reply to SMS at the same time while Google Maps is in the background?
3)What OS is this? GSM arena says WindowsMobile, but WIND page says BREW? So how do I install stuff?
4)Is there an app store? Not as good as iPhone's apps store of course...but at least something similar to that?
AirForceElite 2 years ago
@AirForceElite
1) Purchased the phone yesterday.
Theres No QWERTY Option
Just the traditional keypad in touch.
2) Yes you can minimize the apps etc....and open another one. Yes you can multitask
3) Brew. You can install java apps
4) you can get java apps almost anywhere for free
HotRedMonkey 2 years ago
1) I looked at the Wind Mobile U7519 Phone details on their website:
'Keyboard: QWERTY Keyboard, Keypad'
I haven't seen the phone in person, but are you sure there is no option for QWERTY? Thanks.
robmundo 2 years ago
@robmundo
yeah i have it, there's no option for qwerty keyboard. thats the only downside.
You can try out the actual phone at the Wind store before you purchase.
