  • My Daddy is a deceased USMC Marine from Norwood, OH, who enlisted in 42. (But he is stil a Marine!) He boarded a train at 17 and fought in the Pacific and Korean War. He lied about his age and his height. I remember Bougainville being Dad's worst nightmare, it kept him up at night. Now all if Dad's records are gone, from a fire. I just want to find some of his campaign ribbons. Everything seems to be gone but honorable discharge from San Diego, CA in '45 or 46. Any help?

Anyone who has not heard the Navy Hymn sung at the end of services in the magnificent Academy Chapel has missed one of the most thrilling experiences imaginable. And the glee clubs' annual Messiah highlights is a coveted ticket you should try to get. These young men and women are America's finest and deserve every respect.

  • A lot of people make fun of the Navy. Calling sailors gay and stuff like that. But people really don't realize how important having a strong Navy truly is. You can't win a war with out one.

  • this is great stuff in our family 4 members of our family served in the greatest navy in he world. so we have been serving in the navy since WWII. Also my son was part of the marines. ANCHORS AWEIGH AND OORAH!

  • A good friend of mine was a Seabee......

  • awsome

  • Absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for uploading. To all who serve, I am deeply honored and humbled to stand beside you as an American, and you have my support until the day I die.

  • I bet the Navy Glee Club could beat the shit out of "glee" from tv! lol. Great tribute! GO NAVY AND MARINE CORPS! HO-RAH!

  • I have been searching You Tube for a long time looking for a version of "Eternal Father aka Navy Hymn that includes the Marine verse written by Navy Chaplain Joseph Seim - thanx for including it here mate.

  • @NorminHilo not a problem, thanks for watching!

  • @NorminHilo I was a Marine Military Academy cadet from 1973-75 and I never learned the Navy "version" of the Navy Hymm. We sang the USMC version at the end of Wednesday night "Vespers" services. "Eternal Father, grant we pray, to all MA-RINES both night and day". Hearing that is still inspiring 35 years later. And we really pounded on that "Marines" part of the song. Thanks for including it. Semper Fi.

  • Having graduated from Annapolis and being a member of the Glee Club, I remember this well. Server 12 years in the Marines. Thanks for the post.

  • @necky1969: no such thing as an "ex-Marine" you just get too old to fight. You have to let the new guys be Marines too.

  • OORAH Lcpl. Shelby United States Marine Corps. Camp. Lejeune NC. SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OORAH!

  • can anyone help answer my question.

what realations do both marine and navy have?is there any history about it?

  • Marines are soldiers of the sea. Their main job was originally to fight on ships, protect the ship and it's command, and spearhead any amphibious operations that are deemed necessary for the advancement of a naval campaign. Things have changed alot since the beginning of the Corps and Navy. Now, Marines will basically keep small armies on ships when a Navy fleet will go on a deployment or "float" as a total force in readiness. Marines and Sailors work together on a daily basis.

  • @philipinoidiot

the marines arnt actually a branch of the military they are a corps in the navy that is so self contained people think it is its own branch

  • I like the way the Navy sang the Marine Corps Hymn and the Marine Corps sang the Navy Hymn

  • Well done comrade! I,am a U.S. Navy vet. ( U.S.S. Saratoga CV-60, 1977-1981) God bless, all our brothers and sisters in arms! you will never be forgotten by me!

  • @TravisBickle2 Go Navy beat Army!

  • thanks!

  • very wicked cool video thanks for posting.

  • no problem, thanks for watching! :)

  • Powerful video. USMC and USN are my two favorite services. USN would be my second choice if I couldn't join the Marines. Probably enlist as boarding party member.

  • I am going to join the Navy as an officer (after attending either the Naval Academy or a very well known ROTC program).

  • I'd like to do JROTC in my high school right now but they don't have one. Probably gonna have to do it in college (even though I don't plan on going officer). But USNA is pretty tough to get into without perfect grades and a lot of extra curricular stuff.

  • Yeah I wanna do JROTC in my high school but it turns out they didn't have one. Probably gonna do ROTC in college (even though I don't plan on going officer). But yeah USNA is pretty tough to get accepted into unless you have flawless grades and a lot of extra curricular activities in your life.

  • Yep. I love extra curricular and I have an average of a 3.9 GPA. Which I hope to bring up this year (It is my freshman year, and we are one of the top JROTC programs in the Nation.).

  • I'm at my freshman year too. My school is the best high school in the district but what'd make it better if it actually HAD an ROTC program. What the hell outta ALL the high schools who do, mine doesn't.

  • I am in the best school in Louisiana (We say we are the smartest of the dumbest.).

  • Somebody with a 3.9 GPA can't be dumb. Nor do dumb people consider being officers. You should join the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps if you have a local one. Good program.

  • I do have a local Cadet Corps, but I don't have any time in my schedule between school, band, and Boy Scouts (I am almost an Eagle). I am also running for the Student Gov't Association and a few other little things.

  • I think it's safe to say you'll make it into the USNA. I gotta get my goddamn ass into some extra curricular activities. (Believe me I don't believe in cussing but I'm just pissed because I'm in very little extra curricular activities).

  • Thank you, and I know the feeling. I hope you fulfill your dreams too. I don't believe in cussing, either.

  • My dreams aren't coming true until I'm in my early 30's or 40's (not sure what age most sergeants are) but I'll get my dreams when I get to E-6.

  • At least you'll reach them.

  • Yeah. Wanna be a machine gunner before a infantry unit leader but that's not up to me. Machine gunner is MOS 0331. But they assign me what kind of infantry I get to be. They can assign me 0311 which is rifleman, or 0331 which is machine gunner. Perhaps 0351 which is assaultman. I wouldn't mind being a rifleman, machine gunner, or an assaultman.

  • I wouldn't mind it either. I like big, fast shooting guns, though.

  • Same here. I'll be going NROTC next year, maybe Marine Option. I'm looking to go into the Seabees, that way I can satisfy my want of being out in the sandbox and not in an office. Besides the Academy, what schools are you looking at? I know Purdue's program has been #1 for a few years running now. A former USNSCC officer of mine is in Purdue's program studying aeronautical engineering. He's already got a private pilot's license and he's looking to become a strike fighter pilot.

  • I'm also looking at Texas A&M because I am also in the band.

  • ahh, cool cool. great school too :)

  • Yep. I live in LSU country, so I get harassed a lot by them.

  • hahaha, nice

  • I will never change. I get on my Scout troops nerves because of that.

  • lol hooyah :D

  • What's your favorite college team?

  • "Go NAVY - Beat ARMY ! ! ! ! !"

What else s there? Yoo Yah Yoo Yah Hey!

Send NAVY down the Field Yoo Yah!

  • "Anchors Aweigh My Boys, Anchors Aweigh!"

    Agreed.

  • and USMC kicks everyones ass (with the help of the navy) ;)
