The only justification would be that the spins used in the program are of basic positions and a relatively small number of revolutions, but as there are no rules in amateur competition, any deduction seems unjustified. Many of today's skaters could learn a lot from watching performances like this one.
So many current eligible skaters could take a few notes from Brian. Simple, secure edges. No flailing of arms in his skating. Simple yet majestic. Probably the greatest Jumper in the history of the sport.

Boitano was simply the best!!! No one does a death drop as high and as beautiful as him.
