I bought this album when I was in high school and listened to this song over and over every night with headphones. I didn't realize I was singing along until two weeks later when my grandparents finally confessed to me I was keeping them awake at night. I was so embarrassed. I'm 56 now so that should give an idea how long ago that was. the song has never lost it's power for me. The late 60's will always be the best years of music for me.
Scotty from Canada...Have been listening to this tune for thirty years, and it always moves me to tears - and I'm a GUY for Chrissakes! What a shame things have to change and bands like this have to break up. The next generation of Rockers could learn much from Mountain. Glad I was alive to enjoy them & glad I found this tune once again. Viva You Tube!
@rkoalldae Flowers of Evil was, and still is the greatest album ever by Mountain. I bought the album when it first came out and played it to death. Leslie West was so underated.
i named my dog felix cause i believed that man to be the best!!!!! now dogs arn;t gods but felix turned out to be the best dog i ever knew. i miss them both very much
@Pardoe1976 the song flowers of evil is very politicaly charged. its about society sending 18 - 20 year olds off to fight for causes they barley understand and not accepting the changes living through such things causes to thier outlook on life. so thier only choices are to go back to war or struggle to fit in in a surreal reality where every things the same but thier different inside and wind up maladjusted -TMI- try tappin your toe to that tune now
John Mcdermott covers this song. It was written by Felix Pappalardi and the woman that shot and killed him, Gail Collins.

Critics always said they were a Cream clone but I think that is very unkind. A very good rock band..one of many hidden gems.
