U.S. Rescues More Iranians at Sea
A US ship has picked up Iranians in trouble at sea, in the second such rescue in less than a week. Coast Guard cutter Monomoy rescued six Iranian sailors after their vessel broke down in the Gulf, including one who had suffered burns. "that the engine room was flooding and [the ship was] not seaworthy", said Pentagon spokesman George Little.

@GishabrunLOB Iranian govt claims it's territory to 12 miles. An international agreement also exists between Oman and Tehran dividing the straits 50/50. UN designates the straits of hormuz as a free transit zone. It has no legal basis to block the straits.

Sure, they can't block the US Navy from entering through Oman (but only the navy can cross there, no shipping boats can), but they can close the shipping routes if the US Navy does. @misterdomination256 True, there are reserves, but the price of oil will still rise. Remember Libya? Libya is tiny compared to the oil going through the Strait of Hormuz, but oil prices still rose. Also, there was the Arab oil embargo in the 1970s that rose the price of oil from less than $20 to over $100. The best option for both sides is the lifting of sanctions and do the rest diplomatically.

first of all, US Carrier battle group often includes at least a dozen fully equiped Destroyers that are armed with vertical launch missiles, tomahawk missiles, anit-submarine warfare systems and multiple smaller cannons and 50 cal machine guns that are designed to take out incoming aircraft and missiles, so i can assure you that they can handle many little boats at once little dingy boats.

So long as it is JUST iran and JUST the USA, Iran would be crushed. Not easily crushed but crushed none the less. It's statistically impossible for Iran to win.

@GishabrunLOB Iranian govt claims it's territory to 12 miles. An international agreement also exists between Oman and Tehran dividing the straits 50/50. UN designates the straits of hormuz as a free transit zone. It has no legal basis to block the straits.

Sure, they can't block the US Navy from entering through Oman (but only the navy can cross there, no shipping boats can), but they can close the shipping routes if the US Navy does. @misterdomination256 True, there are reserves, but the price of oil will still rise. Remember Libya? Libya is tiny compared to the oil going through the Strait of Hormuz, but oil prices still rose. Also, there was the Arab oil embargo in the 1970s that rose the price of oil from less than $20 to over $100. The best option for both sides is the lifting of sanctions and do the rest diplomatically.
