  • Watching this with my Dad. Got to love it!!!!

  • I uploaded a SICK REMASTER of this concert, plus the headliner The Who.

  • way more insparational than given credit for i hear maiden and a lot of other metal in there

    clive's drumming is great too!

  • way more insparational than given credit for i hear maiden and a lot of other metal in there

  • @noodledwarf JT is an idol to maiden and many other rock groups

  • Great clip... Martin is great

  • Nice piece from a great player. From 0:04-0:20 sounds like he 'borrowed' the chords from Jan Ackerman of Focus!

  • if you hear some of the early tull, it actually sounds a little bit like sabbath~ love that sound of 60's and 70's metal~

    and tull...so friggin awesomely gypsy-folk-metal-rock~

  • @allamericandiner Did you know that Tony Iommi played in Jethro Tull?

  • @MrNachoplaza oh yeah~ isn't it awesome....i think of them as being one big happy family of music.

  • Great guitar player. Alway`s liked how Barre was more a hard rock player than Howe, Hacket or Fripp. Was nice to have such heavy rock playing in Tull`s progressive music.

  • He created many unforgettable riffs known to rock. A very, very underrated guitarist of our time.

  • One of the most under rated guitarist of his time

  • @wolffster1

    He truly is.....

  • so creative.no o9ne sounds like him.

  • i love that les paul he has, damn sweet guitar

  • I saw Martin and Co. at least 14 times beginning with Warchild at HersheyPark Arena in PA and he is the greatest guitarist I have ever heard, live or studio. I've seen Steve Howe bunches of times, too, along with the original Skynnard, and so many guitar bands I lost count. He is the best, period. This guy can't be touched for innovativeness (though this recording is old). I also thank the dudes who uploaded this. By the way, Martin's two or three original albums/CDs, are better than Tull.

  • PROTO-METAL!!! which Jethro Tull was because of Mr.Barre... wow.

  • Loved live 70's Guitar solo's at full volume back in the day. Buck Dharma, Joe Perry, Alex Lifeson, and Ritchie Blackmore, come to mind and i saw them all !!!!

  • Brilliant! Speechless! Barre really rocks!

  • I was reading various posts; I think Martin's Les Paul is a 59 given to him by Jimmy Page? Please correct if I'm wrong. The rumor is Martin auditioned for the Tull job w/ Ian listening with his ear up to Martin's guitar. Anyway, whoever said Martin Barre is one of the most underrated guitarists surely speaks for many guitarists, I'm certain. Even Steve Vai has credited Barre as an early influence . . . Causing Barre to reply in an interview: "I don't see it."

  • One of the greatest guitarists of the past quarter century.

  • my personal favorite Tull lineup .... Martin Barre, Clive Bunker, Glen Cornick, Ian Anderson. :D

  • @PeaceFrogMan Cornick was definitely the best bassist they ever had (although John Glascock was very good too). However, for me the drumming is a toss up between Bunker and Barlow. It was a mistake on Anderson's part to sack Cornick. Bunker left by his own accord because he got married.

  • He is SOOOOOO under rated as a guitarist.

  • OHHH yeaH

  • horrible tone

  • so I really dig martins guitar tone and I read he used hiwatt amps for aqualung, can anymore confirm?

  • Wow, thats some Rock and Roll indulgence there. I love JT and Martin Barrre, but it sounds more like he is tuning his guitar.

  • To think that ol' Martin (that is, a young Martin) was so nervous and insecure for the Tull assessment back in 1969. He's the longest standing player with JT after Ian, the patriarch. // My favorite drummers: Bunker & Barlow. // Favorite bassists: Cornick & Hammond. // Favorite at keyboards: Evan(s). ...Living in the past.

  • Ohhhh cut the bickering!! Both Barru and Clive and all drummers of Tull contributed their styles which allowed us to this day...enjoy the music of this fantastic band. I went to see Yes with their Quebec vocalist and thought he did awesome, as well as Oliver Wakeman on keys....c'mon guys ...slack it off

  • palmer(elp) v. barlow who wins?

  • Barlow but its close. Carl was very talented but the least talented of ELP next to such great musicians as Greg LAke and Emerson.

  • Barlow Barlow and Barlow

  • hát meghaltam nekik , gyerekek! Kibaszottul nagyok!!!!

  • Great drumming, almost steals the show

  • I dont know, I think Barriemore was better

  • thanks for the reponse :-)

  • .........?

  • so do i...john bonham said barriemore was the best drummer to come out of england

  • true tht

  • Unfair comparison between Bunker & Barlow. Barlow was perhaps more technically gifted - certainly more of a finesse type player. Bunker on the other hand had a more powerful sound (but no less gifted). Both were (or in the case of Bunker still are) brilliant! Sadly never got to see Barlow play live but I did see Bunker at the Tull Comvention in Worcester several years back and he was out of this world.

  • I think most of Barlow's stuff sounded better though. No matter how fast or clean you play, it has to fit in and complement the music. Some drummers lose sight of that, like Bunker. But Barlow played clean, fast, all of his stuff was very original (no one had heard a drummer like that before) and it fit the music perfectly. It doesn't take the spotlight over a guitar solo.

  • Clive also great on the drums.

  • Martin Barre ROCKS!!!!

  • Oh Martin, such lucky souls we are to have you. What a brilliant guitarist.

  • Martin rocks. He's one of the best guitarist ever. Completely under rated by main stream music.

  • I have seen Tull 31 times between 1972 and 2007, have met Martin a number of times and this early clip is so primative compared to what he became with the "Aqualung" album that it is hard for me to believe that this is Mighty Martin.

  • I tend to like his primitive playing better, but I see your point.....it doesn't really sound like the same player does it?

  • not fair. where's the rests of this birthing?

  • ahh the early heavy music.. so old-school and awesome. thanks for uplaoding
