  • Not only Barry Bonds but first Mark McQuire took steriods. I think their records should be erased.

  • @JettRink50 Well you know what? Ruth drank shitloads of beer. Should his records be erased, too????

  • Happy Babe Ruth Day everybody. Keep swingin', Babe.

  • I hate to break the news to you but back in his day every man was a drunk and womanizing clown............and he did that better than everyone else too.

  • @jmw1980hys that statement is far too generalized..there is no merit in what you say.

  • He was a drunk and a womanizing clown...but this is interesting footage.

  • @beornheard still the best ever

  • @beornheard Wait..... a professional athlete who drank alcohol & chased women? Say it ain't so. I always thought they were a teetotaling, churchgoing sort of folk (as a rule).

  • He was a drunk and a womanizing clown...but this is interesting footage.

  • What a wonderful voice! (I have to say that... I'm a Yankees fan. It's sacrilege to bad mouth the Babe)☺

  • babe ruth,yogi berra,robert hornsby,lou gehrig,cap anson,joe dimaggio,coll papa bell,george brett,lou brock,roberto clemente,mickey mantle,nolan ryan,goose goslin,ozzie smith all my davorite baseball players in history

  • @spenser828 duh duh what?

  • @TheSpoiler001 Davorite means damn favorite!

  • I say he makes a great umpire :D

  • he looks like a little pig, like ralph wiggum

  • What did he say at 0:13?

And what did he say for the song? How did it go?

  • @tatomuck18 FOul Ball

  • that was beautiful

  • he shouldve joined a chior

  • Thats some serious talent if I've ever seen it. Makes you wonder why he even played baseball.

  • What the f--- was that all about?

  • Could have sworn I heard this in a cartoon. I think he was doing voice-over.

  • Eighty years ago you would've loved it, and probably run up onto the soundstage and given the Babe a big kiss on the cheek. "Golly, Mr. Ruth," you would have surely cried, "you're the greatest!" And then the Babe would have struck up the band and reprised his wonderful song, over and over... just for you.

  • SINGS LIKE AN ANGEL..

  • i know what hes really saying ''play ball strike 1 strike 2 strike 3 foul ball ball 1 ball 2 ball 3 it's a home run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where, exactly, does Babe sing?

  • Loll..

  • Uhhhhh...

  • ...yeah...my thoughts exactly...

  • wtf?

  • I think he sings better than P Diddy.

  • LOL everyone does!!!

  • Babe did NOT quit his day job.

  • Haha, he dances funny!

  • I was thinking the same thing haha! He just kind of gracefully bounces and sways his arms back and forth, that's poetry in motion right there :P haha!

  • Ruth and 'roids? Whatever! It figures a Mets fan would say something like that. Name one Met player who's lifetime stats can be likened to Ruths? I'll wait... Sorry, but the correct answer is no none. I love how some of these stupid Mets fans like to say ignorant things like, "We own New York." Really? Since when? Two titles in 46 years (and counting), only one true Hall of Famer (Seaver), and a World Series loss to the Yankees. Ummm... How does that constitute the notion that they own New York?

  • i agree and i live in australia the yankees r more well known throught the world then the mets i can name half a dozen yankees and wouldnt know the baseball leauge!

  • im a mets fan a i dont even like that comment he didnt use roids

  • was babe ruth husky or what no steroids think and see...

  • way to throw accusations without any proof. speaking of drug users in baseball how about those 86 mets...

  • Oh that's bull crap right there. You dont have any proof of anything. They didnt have any technology to create performance enhancers in those days. This si the same era that thought you'd lose weight if you rubbed a belt constantly on your stomach. O Excactly. Youre ignorant and are just a whining Mets fan. When youre team have a winning season with out collapsing and crying on the bench then come back and talk. But even then I dont think you'll have anything decent to say.

  • The radio announcer in the tux with the big

    smile..is..?

    "Officer Joe"Bolton.

  • Don't quit your daytime job, Babe.

  • This reminds me of Mel Brooks' movie "Young Frankenstein". The scene where Gene Wilder taught the beast to perform on stage Putin' on the Ritz.

  • He must have been the 1st real American Sports ICON. What Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan are today for thier sports Ruth was the 1st for his sport and all sports back in his day.

  • Paige? Sandy Koufax, Christy Mathewson, Cy Young and Walter Johnson are all better than Paige no doubt in my mind.

  • There all good...but Paige had the best stuff. look it up...Paige got to old before he had his shot in the MLB.

  • There was NOONE better than Paige.

  • its because baseball is so RACIST, they wouldnt allow any black players. Paige couldnt even get hired and when he did he pitched at 59 years old. Can you imagine how many wins he wouldve got if he started younger?

  • Actually he first came in when he was 42.

  • This is an excerpt from a 1937 Warner Bros.-Vitaphone short he starred in, "Home Run On the Keys". The song was supposedly co-written by him, with Zez Confrey and Byron Gay. You MUST see the entire short to understand why he's "singing" this!

  • what the hell all he did was wave his arms around and be an umpire

  • He must have been a fun guy to be around.

  • Probably the greatest pitcher of alltime was SATCHELL PAIGE .... but he came a few years after Ruth. Paige's best years were in the mid to late 30s ..... Ruth's best years were in the 20's

  • Paige? Seriously? I can think of over 50 pitchers better than him.

  • Satchell Paige Allstars would barnstorm with Dizzy Dean Allstars and beat the hell out of Dizzy's team. Satchell dominated the series ..... and players like Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Dizzy Dean, Joe Dimaggio, all acknowledged that Satch was the greatest pitcher who ever lived.

  • Babe all the way. The true homerun king.

  • Babe Ruth was the greatest mania, sensation, phoenonen etc... of a sport. The japanese called him the god of baseball. The house that Ruth built, the called shot, the curse, etc... His charisma drinking, hot dog eating, running with young 16 year olds, loved by so many. Alot of great baseball players have come and gone but something about mentioning the name Babe Ruth in baseball is like scared.

  • Today, if hitters are in a slump, they check out pitchehrs patterns through tape, and sometimes it STILL makes no difference. Hitters back then didn't have that luxury.

  • how fast do you think the pitchers actually threw back in babe's day? do you think it was the same 80-90s mph fastball as in today's game? I always wondered this.

  • The speeds were about the same.

No radar gun back then. But it's not like they threw under-hand change-ups or anything. Even if there was a 2 or 3 mile difference between the average fastball, I still say modern hitters have it better.

And that's because they didn't have tape to analyize pitchers back then. It was all in their head, they had to memorize it.

  • Ok lets say the pitchers didn't have the same 80-90mph fastball as today. Even so that is not my point. Its that Babe Ruth was the greatest mania, sensation, phoenonen etc... of a sport or baseball. The japanese called him the god of baseball. As said above.

  • They say that Walter Johnson had a cannon of an arm .... so did Dizzy Dean .... and a few years after Babe, Bob Feller was amazing. Ive often heard that the top 10 pitchers of that era was as good as the top 10 of the modern era .... but after that, the talent level dropped off badly back then ...

  • Ruth may not have played against blacks, but guys like Gibson and Paige never had to play against Ruth, so it can go either way.

You can't discredit one guy, and praise another.

In 1910, the Detriot Tigers played exhebition games against a black, a team the great Josh Gibson was on.

The Tigers, with Ty Cobb, won the series 7-4-1 against the blacks.

  • So while Ruth never played with all the talent possible, neither did Gibson, Paige, Charelson, and Ruth's friend Pop Lloyd, who Ruth mentioned would have been a star.

    But it's all what-ifs.

  • You are right. nakedjanet.

  • A BIG FAT * FOR THE BABE!

  • Yea actually he would have had 1 more homerun, look it up

  • this is just funny. yeah, ruth was the greatest hitter of them all. his slugging % still stands. take THAT juicers!

  • Thank god he took up baseball and not singing.

  • Was he? Under modern rules, the Babe would have had around 50 more home runs then he ended up with. (HR's used to be counted by where they were last seen by the Umps, under modern rules its where they cleared the fence)That, coupled with how much deeper ballparks were back then give me the impression that the Babe was a better hitter.

  • babe aint the best no more people need to relize that..aaron obliterated his record

  • 12inches, did Hank Aaron have a career ERA of 2.28? Did Hank Aaron win 20 games twice? Hank Aaron was a great player, no doubt. But just because he hit a few more homeruns does NOT mean he was better than THE BABE!

  • yea he was hank was younger when he hit his 715th home run he was just a better homeruun hitter

  • sorry man you're way off. Statistically the best home run hitter was McGwire and Ruth was second. Aaron's not even in the top 10. Do some research before you talk.

  • he started later in his career and oblitrated is record by more than 20 homeruns and retired at a younger age

  • Babe wasn't even a full time outfielder until he was 25 (he pitched before then), and MLB used much deader balls before the 1920's. Despite all that, Babe Ruth still hit 714 home runs. HE was the best.

  • Ruth didn't juice. Mark McPhony did.

  • True but since steroids were around in sports since the late 30s and there was no testing everybody since then might have done them. It's obvious McGwire did steroids but as he didnt fail a steroid test we cant disregard his stats and legacy. but given the obvious, ruth by far was the baddest hr hitter, and the baddest player

  • And Aaron took almost 4000 more at bats to break the record.

  • Steroids my boy.

  • @tatomuck18, Barry Bonds in a cheater.

  • @tatomuck18 hello no babe ruth would laugh at bonds cause bonds used steroids for all those seasons he even admitted to it such a shame only modern plsyers that are good take steroids and dugs well most do i like classic players better

  • ball two

  • Why is he just saying umpire calls? Anyway, The Babe was the best!
