this has the Windows CE standard hardware but u can buy a android 2.2 version with double the specs: 2 gb nand flash 256 mb ram and an wm8650 800mhz cpu for the 1/2 the price..this was probably meant for Windows CE 6.0 but looks like it is running linux

@Furetgarcon try to find Belco mips 400 it have a bit better spec. Also the Linux it good try china web site they have lot of goods. Augen go they have umpc with now 533 mhz processor.

You could probably install any minimal Distro on it. The best one I can think of is Damn Small Linux, but you could also install Slackware or Arch and install a minimal DE like openbox or stumpwm.

i just want a laptop for writing. I use my PC desktop to run my major applications for ADOBE. So pretty much i just want a literal "notebook" to jot my ideas down when on the road. Is it easy to adjust to the keyboard size for typing. My husband is IST so messing with linux isn't different for us, it's more resourceful using linux anyways. What do you say...will it work for writing only?

This version is pretty rare. Most cheap 7" netbooks are 300mhz, 128mb ram, with windows ce.

Does anyone know if the battery in this pc is removable?

I want to hack the battery from 1800mah to 5200 mah.

It's easily removable - just undo the two screws that hold the battery cover in place on the bottom. Then unplug the battery pack from the motherboard. Done and done.

Wrong. The xburst cpu isn't x86 compatible, which means unless you want to go buy a Windows CE license and development kit for a lot of money, you're gonna have to run some port of Linux.
