read isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth-
The original word is chug. The cognate verb means "to draw a circle." The noun means horizon -- circle which defines the edge of your vision. It is extremely interpretive to understand the term as orb or sphere. In Hebrew aslo have similar word Dur but it's to show object from FOV (as if you see it from outside). The word chug show that you are inside the Dur.
You misspoke, at 8:30 you say job 13:18 when you meant 37:18. That might be the cause of the low ratings.
Also
Proverbs 8:28 "when he made firm the skies above" (NRSV)
"When he established the clouds above" (KJV and NIV)
Perhaps you might have explained why the NRSV is a superior translation. The NRSV is used more by the moderate christian denominations, which probably don't take the bible as literally as the fundies you are addressing.
glennjridge, it is because the bible doesen't know itself. it is confusing. When St Paul said, "to the ends of the earth, " he really did think the world had ends. the bible could have used a different word which would have been the equivilant to ball or globe, but it didn't, because the writters simply didn't know the earth was like a round ball. Why ? Science told us this. Why does the bible cone out with all this "poetic talk" crap and not give us clear unambigious answers.
Is is obvious the bible writers thought the world was flat. See Revelation 7:1 it says" I say four angels standing at the four corners of the world" biblethumpingatheist.co.uk
@tomecrawford make up your minds. when atheists attack christians with this angle they say christians thought the earth was flat 4 corners then when you show them the verse that says "he sits enthroned above the CIRCLE of the earth" isaiah 40:22 they then say the christians thought is was like a pizza pie. you cant have it both ways., if you've said anything like I will love you forever....or I would go thru hell...or I would search the 4 corners of the earth..you did what they did.poetic talk.
To use the modern english language with a million plus words & try to compare it to ancient Hebrew which only had a few thousand & where words were used interchangeably such as circle, circuit or round is just silly. There is nowhere in the bible that says the earth is flat. People have to read more in to the text than whats actually written to draw this conclusion Only the most ignorant of European society believed this. Balls come in many shapes. Unfortunately Wilson wasn't around back then.
What an idiot. To arrogantly judge the Scripture was written "by ignorant men," proves the contention that we can only judge other's intelligence by the level of our own. You have proven your "level" is not very high. The "scientific" accuracy of the Scripture is absolutely astounding. The interpretation of the Scripture is most certainly interpreted by ignorant men... Like you. Babbling, arrogant, fools, struggling under the weight of your pitiful blindness.
I especially like how this guy is so ready to accept 'flat circle' though not specifically stated, yet he has a really hard time accepting 'spherical circle' though not specifically stated. Sounds kind of biased to me. Thanks for your input though.
When you read those Babylonian myths: Enumah Elish, Adapa and the South Wind, AtraHasis and the Epic of Gilgamesh, you will know that the Hebrew Scribes took from these stories to make up the Genesis myth in the Bible. So Judaism, Christianity and Islam all go down in flames because their Holy Books are not from God.
The ancient Hebrews, like the Babylonians and the Egyptians, all believed that the earth was a flat circular disk, with a metallic sky-dome. In Genesis on the first day they said that God created light, but there could not be any light if there was no sun, moon and stars until the fourth day of creation. The Old Testament is a man-made book , and the game is over.
I read the greek or aramaic word used in the verse khoog I believe about the circle of the earth is a word that is used that implies volume like if you use the word square that pretty much is flat 4 corners but if you use say "cube" it implies a square with volume. os imn this case circle translates sphere
@KingHeathen Ever check out Ivan Panin's Bible numerics? You haven't have you? Nope. Sure of that. But then, I'm sure you know everything in the world. You are smarter than The Creator. Gosh, I'm sure glad I found you. By the way, "ALL KNOWING ONE," the earth does not move. Never been proven, and if you were honest with yourself you would admit that. You're just a hard hearted cheese bag babbling foolishness. Talk about ASSumptions. Time will tell bucko... and it goes fast.
Land and sea do not exist as a globe because water does not take shape, water is always contained n it settles till its surface becomes level. Land has various forms from highlands to lowlands to hills, mountains and plains, all in a general horizontal plane with sea level. So yes the bible is ofcourse correct in describing the world as a tent. The dome of the sky gives the world its spherical shape from the outside. The mainstream view that land and sea exist as a globe is absurd n fictitious.
Thats not honest, you claim there is a dome in genesis. The firmement is the sky trust me. gen 1:20 fowl may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.)) the firmement is open sky where bird fly(fowl are birds). gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. Heaven means the skys.
Ha, thats so silly that when you read the bible you picture the earth as flat. That impossible. How would the water from the world wide flood not fall off the edges of a flat earth?
@rangoon03 Holy shit! Are you serious? Do you know what a compass is? No...not the thing you use to figure out which way is north...Why would an omniscient god need to put one of those on the Earth? A compass is a DRAWING tool with a needle on one side and a pencil on the other. You place the needle down and rotate the tool around that point. Now, can you guess what shape is made when you do this?
You like many people take these to be literal, When Kabbalists talk about people living in a flat world, it means they have no vertical path, nothing more. People tend to understand obscure things in reference to only what they currently know, and usually in a simple idea of it. If this reference I mentioned is true, how much more silly do 2 people fighting over a misinterpretation of it look?
Plus theres plenty of cases where extremely old cathedrals, Hermetic texts images show spheres.
@IMBUED This video isn't directed at Kabbalists but instead young earth creationists and others that think that the Bible is meant as literal. It's not ME that thinks it's literal...it's them.
If you complete the rest of the series, you may be surprised at what I'm actually getting at here...you may even decide that you agree.
@KingHeathen He (IMBUED) is not saying you take the bible litterally if you did you would believe it. He is saying your interpretation of language is too litteral and hence poor. For an example if the bible says earths inhabitants are as grasshoppers it doesnt mean they looked or even acted like grasshoppers, it just means they are small,(niether is it saying men are that small).
@IMBUED really now? is that what they meant? then why is that when Galileo went to the pope about his findings that the earth was in fact ROUND and NOT the center of the universe they put him in house arrest for his entire life? The church felt threatened by this so much so that they convicted him to death claiming he was a demon. They have since proven that the earth is not the center of anything not the universe, not the galaxy. So if it meant no vertical path then why did they do that to him?
@foofiter9097 Who said the church understood it either? They inherited the literal, not understanding the unlying understanding, They read it like you do. And can't even follow the simplest requierments of thier own religon. And you think they are good canidates for any sort of position to consider them as a fair representative? Anyone can consider themselves to be whatever they want without meeting requirements, Many think themselves as great, but do nothing "great", they don't go anywhere.
@foofiter9097 on a side note, theres older hermetic texts that knew the earth was round and moving in space. It's delusional for you to think the entire world thought the world was flat, off one ignorant mans actions. It's the same mental attitude a rascist has, making large conclusions on very little fact. and lack any perspective on the an entire picture.
If you attempted to explain the universe with your current knowledge...in a few thousand years...someone will be scoffing at the inaccuracies due to your ignorance of all of the facts/truths. How does a village person in a remote area without technology even begin to explain the world around him? He invents a story to make sense of reality. Like the dreamtime stories. Does not mean they are true.
@JubblyJack Here's the part you keep forgetting...No one in 1000 years will claim that my attempt of explaining the universe was "the word of God." You've already admitted that the Bible isn't "100% accurate." Therefore, what's the point of defending it? Maybe the "errors" I name are precisely that. As to it being "only men trying to explain what they [thought they] knew...watch the rest of this series...you may be surprised at how much we end up agreeing.
@KingHeathen Sorry did not realise I came across as defending the bible. I had not read it in about 7 years until now when I've been checking out what you've said. I always thought that the bible was made up by men (not women) to subjugate women and to get power over people. It would be great to know the real truth about everything.
archaeology discovered that the earth was populated by different living things by looking at the layers of rocks. First plants, fish, birds, mammals. In the different layers. N'est ce pas?
@JubblyJack wow...you have a less than zero understanding of what archeology says. I would have to teach you something to get you back to knowing NOTHING about it.
Let me attempt to get you there...Has there EVER been a rabbit fossil found in the Jurassic layer? Hint: If there were, it would strike a near mortal blow to evolutionary studies.
@KingHeathen I was referring to the order of things found in the rock layers ie plants, fish, mammals....seems they came in different eras and the bible story order of creation which is congruent. They never found a poodle fossil either nor a cat or donkey. Just dinosaurs, plants, fish, mammoths. Because the creatures that exist today had to evolve from the dna. As DNA has become more complicated and evolved so has its creations/results.
@JubblyJack I know what you are attempting to do. But your ignorance of what IS found in the record as compared to the claims of the Bible is your downfall. Here's a TINY LITTLE DETAIL that you may have forgotten....
PLANTS ARE MADE BEFORE THE SUN!!!!!!! (according to the Bible.)
Beyond that, it names birds BEFORE insects (WRONG!) Whales before land mammals (WRONG!) It even says that God made "cattle" yet it was MAN that bred "cattle" from other wild species.
@KingHeathen Genesis 1:3 light was created and separated from the dark. So plants had light for photosynthesis. You can't have green plants without light. Grass, vegetation, fruit trees, plants with seeds next. Then the sun and moon. Fish and birds. Animals. Including those which humans domesticated. The timeline is not an actually 6x24hours day. It is only men trying to explain what they knew about how things began. Not necessarily 100% accurate.
@JubblyJack What you are doing is called "Confirmation Bias." You are ignoring everything that tells you that you are wrong and trying to force other parts to fit your preconceived notion. In short, counting the hits and ignoring the misses!
@KingHeathen Maybe because I was indocrinated growing up to believe that the Bible is the truth. To believe in angels, God and Jesus Christ and in demons and the devil. But I've wondered about the cruelty of old testament Jehovah and the softening of him in the new testament. and why prayers are answered for some of the people some of the time and for others none of the time. I'm always wondering about why things are the way they are.
Archaeology agrees with the timeline of creation mentioned in the bible. The Bible says that Jehovah decreed a circle on the watery deep. This could mean the land mass which was separate from the waters. Eventually the land broke up and drifted apart to make separate continents. These fit together like a puzzle in a circle.. The earth was flat because no mountains, hills had yet been formed.
In Job the bible talks of Jehovah who hung the earth in the heavens supported by nothing and refers to the earth as a sphere. I don't think bible says the earth is flat. People have to read the bible for themselves not listen to what others say it says.
Experientially, even the sun and the moon are discs, one has only to look into the sky without the defining lens of post-Galilean science. In such a view, the sun and moon rise and set, the stars are indeed tiny lights affixed to the night dome, some of those lights even wander about and some fall to the earth.
@EvenGodsSuffer Yes...and ignorant men who were trying to write about the place where they live would explain it that way. But an OMNISCIENT GOD would have a truly different "experience" to base its phrasing as do educated people today.
this is brilliant man! if you dont already U should have your own show. and if U havent already U should write a book. i would love 2 C U put bill oreily in his place. but i have a question. in the bible donkeys hold conversation, burning bushes give orders, men have extra or missing ribs, seven headed monsters rise from the sea and men live inside whales 4 three days so why is the the idea of the earth being flat so absurd? i mean its not like the bible said that rabbits lay chicken eggs right?
Isaiah 40:22 - simply put- "The earth is like a circle above which god is enthroned... and the heavens are a streched out canopy, spread out like a tent to dwell in, for the inhabitants". In this clear context, the earth is likened to a circle and the heaven likened to a tented canopy under which its inhabitants can dwell. But, if the earth is a sphere, the heaven must hermeneutically also be a sphere to cover the entire earth like a tent. Now imagine a spherical tent o.O, an utter non-sense!
@silver2screen I have a wild idea. I will refer to the universe in which we live as our dwelling place...like a tent?!!!? Maybe that is the point. Why do you people not allow for figures of speech. And the Hebrew word means circle, round, round about, ball...
Isaiah 40:22 is unequivocally referring to a circle in the hebrew text, not a sphere. The meaning thereof within the context is absolutely lucid. Only willful ignorance or an obstinate preconceived desire can account for the claim that it refers to a sphere.
So its a circle, at that time thats a pretty big statement to make. A circle a sphere, not a huge difference, not exactly square is it. Why do atheists feel that they have to prove their point against Christians or Jews or Muslims? What drives you to put videos up like this, if there is no God, why get so worked up about it.
@KingHeathen Yea why do you actually do it? if you really believe it has zero creditablity then why bother. Lets put it in simple terms, if you were a rottweiler and a Jack Russel was grawling at you, my rational is that you would walk on by because its only a Jack Russell, and there is no chance that the Jack russel has a chance. What you do by making videos like this is the opposite of what you are seeking to achieve
in the original hebrew text it says sphere (isaiah 40:22 at least i dont know about the others), and it was mistranslated into english. Regardless, i think all of you are idiots. Everyone knows the earth is a cube.
@Brysonmdulack Actually, no. We don't have the "original" text of any sort...but of the earliest versions we have, it says CIRCLE (chug)...feel free to look that up.
did you know that events of Daniel WAS A DREAM ??????? and in the dream nabucodozor WAS THE TREE !!! of course you know that , but you don't care , and the event in the gospel was an espiritual thing , and jesus was in a human body thats why satan is tempting him and showing thing that belong to jesus ANYWAY
All I can say is if this is your attempt, it is rather sad. Very surface level reading of the text, no context, no thought about hebrew poetry, hebrew language, figures of speech, visions, dreams, even though you mention that some were visions or dreams. This would be like me saying your entire argument is bad because you miss cited Deuteronomy. you said Deut. 13:17, when it is 33:17. Unicorns? so an animal with one horn never existed? we just say its a horse with a horn? is that it?
@Follower172 - "surface level reading, no context, no thought, no knowledge on hebrew language etc etc, yet keeps going" - so much of your grumbling. But, don't you think all of these are rather very typical of you?! Nice scapegoating! I loved the empty sarcasm though. As for visions, nope..he didn't himself mention that the seeing of the world flat from mountain-top was a vision, he simply said this is how christians respond to it which is as ridiculous as any other christian apologetics.
@silver2screen Okay, let me see. You are right, the words "this was a vision" are not in the text. But you and King heathen seem to think that this is saying that the earth is flat. I will use your method of exegesis then. The words, I will show you on this flat earth, are not present either, so saying that this is evidence for the Bible teaching a flat earth is invalid. my point still stands. What is the problem with how I respond to it. you didn't address the rest of it.
@Follower172 This guy (kingheathen) has told you on several occassions that he has read the bible cover to cover AS A BELIEVER. By this what he means is, his approach towards understanding the message thereof has always been intensely concordist. But, biblical texts are often so explicit and unequivocal in implication that the sanity within the reader finds no other alternative but to accept the only intended apparent meaning which is in clear conflict with established scientific realities.
@Follower172 "No! no! he made the world look like so and so, he gave visions of such and such; it actually didn't happen the way it says" - what kind of arguement is this? what non-sense is this? This type of arguement is simply babyish, outside the bounds of sanity, not just fallacious. Yours is a grotesque contortion of biblical data to make it fit into something it never can.
Any rational mind can see the apparent fallacy thereof.
@Follower172 There is absolutely NO indication (either in the context or in the passage itself) of any illusion/vision being given to anybody in any way whatsoever. In the very clear context, the only purpose of satan's taking to "a very high mountain" was to present to the bare eyes ALL THE KINGDOMS OF THE ENTIRE WORLD and their glory, just as the purpose of taking to the temple-pinnacle was to dare into jumping down therefrom in the earlier verse. What vision? It just happened THEN AND THERE!
@silver2screen I all ready agreed that the text doesn't say "this was a vision." It also doesn't say "the earth is flat" which is what you and King heathen think it says. So you are being just as boneheaded as you think I am. Apply your standards of the christian to yourself! There is another possibility here as well. i know you wont accept it, but you have to admit the possibility. World, in the greek can mean several things, inhabited earth, local population, all races of people...
@silver2screen and it can mean a few other things. Some think that it is simply talking about everything within sight. Also notice, it doesn't say what mountain. it simply says a very high mountain. we don't know where that is. The temptation ranges from the wilderness, to the pinnacle of the temple to a very high mountain. Think when you read it. If you are capable of actually being objective here, which I doubt. KH has the same problem.
@Follower172 - Now,in english, can you apply that meaning in this sentence:"All the countries of the world" and say "well! all countries of the world may also mean all cities of the locality, coz the word also means particular division of earth"?NO! because in its context the expression "All the countries of the world" unequivocally refers to the planet. Similar is the case for greek word kosmos in deriving meanings. Rather, in greek it does NOT even mean "particular division of earth" unlike eng.
@Follower172 -(dictionary(.)com). Thats the nature of language. It doesn't mean you can cherry pick any meaning out of there and apply it wherever you want. The meaning of a word in a language is derived from the CONTEXT in accordance with the strict rules of that language(i.e. grammar). For example, one of the meanings of the eng. word "world" you would find is: "a particular division of the earth".Example: "the Western world." (dictionary(.)com)
@Follower172 - As clearly described in any lexicon, Greek "kosmos" is ALWAYS used to denote the ENTIRITY of the physical universe/world. By metonymy, as vines describes, it may refer to the inhabitants thereof; i.e. Mankind as a whole. To restrain its meaning to a certain locality is an outright falsification or a work of pure ignorant. On the intellectual level, it is laughable. Consult any greek lexicologist, lolz. Besides, even the english word "world" has as many as 24 different meanings. -
3. The inhabitants of the world, mankind, all the human family/race (metonymy use)
Ref: Vine's expository dictionary of NT words,
Thayer's lexicon of Greek
kosmos may mean "local population, inhabited earth" in your dreams, NOT in the real world. There is not a single lexicon on the face of the earth with those fanciful meanings.
Guys, try to keep your responses to 1-2 text boxes at a time. Doing long responses like these crams down any other conversations and make it difficult for others to keep up. If you can't get your point across in that limit, switch to PM or video responses.
@KingHeathen Once there was a maniac serial killer. He had been committing murder brutally until one day when he got caught. Finally somebody had witnessed him murder and he got to the court. But, the witness was mute so he had to testify in writing. He wrote: "I saw all the acts of murder and their atrocities". But yet, the judge acquitted him. Coz the CHRISTIAN judge used his favorite biblical method of interpretation and concluded:"The witness meant to have a vision,he didn't see a murder".
@silver2screen so inhabited earth isn't the same as "inhabitants of the world"? And it is not always used to denote the entirity of the physical universe! You are a classic example of someone with no education or background in greek who finds a dictionary and doesn't know how to use it. I didn't say that the text was meaning "local area" i said some people view it that way, and it is possible. You are attacking something I didn't say because you are losing the argument.
If you can't look up greek lexicons(which you surely can't), just go to dictioary(.)com and look up the english word "cosmos". Under "word origin and history" you will see a detailed description of the greek root "kosmos". YES! the same word in bible! This greek word is where the english "cosmos" came from. You will see the definition of greek "kosmos" goes word by word -"the whole physical world, including the earth.."(online etymolgy dictionary(c) 2010 Douglas Harper). Yes,WHOLE physical world
I have quoted most notable lexical works on greek which deny OUTRIGHT the possibility that you are so dreaming about! And in that established context, not even in dreams. Anyway, again it ALWAYS refers to the "universality/entirity" of the world that we live in. "Universality" is the idea that the word is rooted upon. "Local" is antonym to "universal", a word can not have meanings tht oppose each other. The english "cosmos" is a direct derivative of tht greek meaning "universe/world as a whole"
@Follower172 I know 1000 times better greek than any of your goofy christian sources. Try me ;)...until then, quit producing empty sarcasm. That does not get your stupid claims to any better level. Classical example? - No dear! The title goes to you, until you decide to backup your claims with some evidence, not just spout out baseless fantasies .Just show me ONE translation, forget about it, just ONE dictionary with your claims, until then the title is all yours! They simply don't exist!
@Follower172 This vision/illusion apology is not just ridiculously fallacious, its sheer lunacy. Using only this vision apologetics, anyone can dodge any logical arguement so easily. When told: "The reality as to the actual age of earth has been established as billions of years scientifically, biblical account of 6000 yrs old earth is completely erroneous", we get as answer: "Oh well! god made it look like its billion yrs, while actually its just 6000 yrs! god just gives us this wrong vision!
@silver2screen You can't say it is fallacious and just walk away like you are right. HOW is it fallacious? It is perfectly reasonable to think it was a vision. In your mind, if there is any difficulty understanding something, it is automatically wrong in the Bible. And as far as the age of the earth, it isn't established. It is believed based on the fossil record, geologic column, radiometric dating and assumption. In that order, and each of which can be shown to have its problems.
@Follower172 There is an animal with one horn and its called the rhinoceros and though the bible lexicon says the unicorn is of unk. origen. The rhino does fall in with the hooved horse family and are considered wild and fierce and strong. But I don't know for sure, just thinking out loud.
@JimmyCarol100 I have no problem with it being a rhino, but the Bible doesn't say. My entire point is that it uses a word that meant something back then. We see it today and assume that it means what we want it to mean, or that it is the same thing as a fantasy book. All the word unicorn means is one horn! It could have been a rhino. It could have been a horse with a horn. I just think it is unfair and absurd to just say that because the word is there the Bible must be false
@Follower172 Look I did'nt say the Bible is false. And all I did was give a thought. And depending on who's dictionary you r using unicorn like all words translate too many different things. As for bible meaning in Hebrew=Re em and read the 9 verses and how its used, I would think it meant some type of wild ox or bull from a side view giving it a 1 horn appearance. BTW, I BELIEVE IN GOD =PEACE and have a nice day.
@Follower172 Or maybe when Jesus said he will soon return he meant that he will only return as a dream. Again why can't people in the bible use figures of speech?
@KingHeathen I still think everyone is stretching the meaning of the text beyond what the readers would have understood it to mean. Why can't a figure of speech from 3000 years ago still be a figure of speech today? I understand that the words "this is a figure of speech" are not in the texts, but do we really need that? Same thing as the "four winds/four corners of the earth." That can't mean the 4 main directions of north south east west can it. Nope, has to mean the earth has corners.
I used to witness door-to-door and to classmates at my university. But when i researched the Bible, and found all it's errors, I immediately suspended my belief in this piece of man-made mythology. I naively figured that if I showed these same errors to my family and friends, they too would suspend their belief.
I still can't understand how people can be so stupid and stubborn!!
Thank you for the video KingHeathen. We need people like you. Otherwise these Christians will kill anyone who doesn't believe in their faith (As mentioned in so many parts of the bible).
@derek0325 lol 3 times. That's not enough to gain any kind of understanding. it takes study, not cover to cover reading. The bible was written over the course of 1600 years with 2000+ fulfilled prophecies and you think you can disprove the bible by only reading it 3 times gl with that
@derek0325 Wow...are you really that block-headed? I didn't say that I ONLY read it straight through 3 times and then NEVER TOUCHED IT AGAIN!!!!
I HAVE studied it intensely. I did so AS A BELIEVER. But it brought up questions, questions that I had to search for answers to try to justify 1000's of contradictions and errors, answers that led to one and ONLY one conclusion...
But look at you...you can't even make it to part 2 of a video, so what do you know about "studying" anything in depth?
@KingHeathen 1000s of contradictions and errors? out of that many I would like you to give me one. Good luck because there aren't any. it will be like Ponce deLeon searching for the fountain of youth
@derek0325 I will give you one off the top of my head. In Matthew Jesus says, "I will be with you till the end of the world." In the original Hebrew version of the bible, it actually says, "I will be be with you till the end of the aeon." That completely changes the meaning of that sentence. An aeon or age is roughly 2100 years according to the phenomenon know as the Precession of the Equinoxes. And according to that , the time of Jesus is almost over.
The birth story of Jesus vs that of Luke. Watch my video "The Best Contradiction against Christians" where I explain how the two accounts can not possibly line up as the events described in one are 10 years apart from the other.
@KingHeathen But plenty of people try to learn to ride a horse-but they never will be able--others like myself new how to ride instantly-------you just can't except your reading it wrong-----try getting help to study-----WE ALL LOVE JESUS --WHAT WRONG WITH THAT--some people like the Rolling Stones some don't CHEER UP AND STOP CRYING!
@derek0325 The bible was not written over the course of 1600 years. EVERYTHING in the bible was taken from older cultures, mainly ancient Egypt. Nothing in the christian bible is original. It is all mythology. Not truth. And 2000+ prophecies fulfilled huh? If you make any statement vague enough, someone someplace will see it at a prophecy. If you would bother to understand history, you can easily see where the bible came from. And it was not from you god.
@derek0325 I love when christians say that the bible contains thousands of prophecies. I don't care about ones the the OT made and the NT fullfilled. That is circular reasoning. And I don't care about vague ones either such as one day Israel will be fighting or one day people will talk smack about this book. I need something really specific here.
@HonestTechnoAtheist I love when so called "Atheists" try to prove the bible wrong and fail miserably every time, it just helps to strengthen my faith so thank you
@derek0325 I love when theists say that we fail without providing and further evidence or comments for t. It just makes all you christians look like complete imbeciles.
@HonestTechnoAtheist I have seen Muslims try to disprove the Bible, and they want to more than anyone to feel that their own religion is right but there are no contradictions or errors. Give one example if you can and please not elementary interpretations like you see in this video. I love when Atheists say they prove the Bible wrong when they never do. I'll keep waiting, but I'm sure it'll be a while.
@derek0325 OK how about the most obvious one I can think of and the thing that helped me deconvert from christianity.
God is omnibenevolent and loves you more than anything yet he has made a special place for you to go where you will regret very much to go if you don't believe that he exists. The bible says that everything came as it was in its present form. Evolution has disproved this.
@derek0325 You only want ONE example of an error or contradiction? I already GAVE you one...you didn't reply to it. Do you want another? OK...since the last one required to much effort out of you to research it (I guess) how about that the Bible claims rabbits eat their cud. (Duet 14:7) They don't. Would you like another one?
@HonestTechnoAtheist btw to me personally i dont care if theres 1 fulfilled prophecy or 5000 in the bible, the work of the Holy Spirit proves God exists thank you very much. Jesus Christ is Lord!
@derek0325 "the work of the holy spirit proves god exists" Ok now give me some evidence for the holy spirit. I think I will say something like the invisible pink unicorn proves the holy spirit exists.
@HonestTechnoAtheist The Holy Spirit is a part of God ! Show me that oxygen exists. please, I don't believe this phenomena is true until I see it. Hurry if I can't breath without it I have to find it quick! I'm serious show me where it is I don't want to die. Rofl
@derek0325 Oxygen itself is an invisible gas but you know it exists because you are breating it right now. Oxygen is part of nature and the natural realm and thus does not need extrodinary evidence to proove it. Where as extrordinary things such as dieties and ghosts do.
@HonestTechnoAtheist Actually...oxygen (as a gas) may be invisible to the naked eye, but it can be tested for and proven to exist. But more importantly, like all gasses, it can also be cooled to form LIQUID oxygen and be seen easily.
to believe that Jesus and Satan literally went on top of a mountain and looked at the world would mean you have to take their trip to the top of the mountain together literally. So Jesus and satan put on their backpacks and hiked up mt everest together, did some camping and also talked about the good old days. It was a vision.
@derek0325 Can you quote me the verse that says it's a vision? Of course not. You are trying to justify what was simply meant as a story...even as a "vision"...the story still doesn't work. Come on now...you can do it...go watch part 2.
Yes, it does say that....continue on to part 2. I explain how wrong you are about that verse. If you want the short answer....how can you be "above" a sphere? In space, there is no "above." Now imagine a coin...standing ABOVE the coin...draw the CIRCLE around its edge. Watch the video if you want to see how the context continues to disagree with you.
Circle is a "metaphor?" I thought it was a shape?!
OH!!! They DIDN'T KNOW BACK THEN....well that explains why THEY GOT IT WRONG! Thank you for admitting that they thought the world was flat and therefore wrote passages like I point out in part 2 which indicate exactly that and went on to resist the new information about the spherical Earth as I point out in part 3 leading to my conclusion about other things in part 4.
@5eurocups2005 The Bible doesn't say "globe" so it's irrelevant, but no. Can a coin be spherical? Can a sphere have "edges"? Can it be shaken by its edges?
AGAIN....continue on to part 2...I address ALL of your counters.
@KingHeathen The Bible actually teaches a spherical shape for the earth. In Isaiah 40:22 God is said to sit above the circle of the earth (the Hebrew word for circle can also mean a sphere). Also, in Luke 17:3436 Christ's Second Coming is portrayed as occurring while some are asleep at night and others are working at daytime activities — which means a rotating earth with day and night at the same time.
@5eurocups2005 You've already mentioned Isaiah...I've already countered it...I've already told you to move on to part 3.
As to Luke...keep in mind that this idea that the Rapture was to come didn't even exist until the 1700'S!!!!! But to satisfy your suggestion that this proves a spherical Earth...the verse never says both events happen at the same time. The idea wasn't that it would all happen instantly...but instead, throughout the day.
@derek0325 I agree...that's why I did the research and verified everything that I said giving a very thorough presentation...Part 2 is next, continue from there.
Empedocles taught the earth rested in a giant whirlwind, Aristotle theorized that the earth is a sphere but denied that it could ever hang in empty space, he thought the sun moon and stars were attached to the surface of solid, transparent spheres, any way my point is back then u it was an insane idea that the earth sat alone in space, but the bible always sed it did "hanging upon nothing" Job 26:7
@gregrutz maybe the men who penned the Bilble didnt know but 2 timothy 3:16 states that all scripture is inspired of God, Isaiah 40:22 states "there is one who is dwelling above the cirlce of the earth" The hebrew word chugh translated "circle" may also be rendered "sphere" other Bible translations read "the globe of the earth" ( Douay version) and the round earth - moffatt
6. genesis 14,15 talks about "let luminaries come to be in the expanse of the heavens" 7. Mark 13:24,25 is talking about celestreal phenomenom and of coarse when the sun is darkened the moon will with hold its light like u sed it reflects the sun but back then people didnt kno that, and when it sez the stars falling from heaven its symbolic talkin about the angels just like Job 38:7 does and rev 12 3:4. 8. Job 13:18 doesnt say anything like that??
1. the ancient hebrew word for circle and sphere in that sentence structure was the same word. 2. Nebuchenezers dream was just a symbolic prophecy about Gods kingdom. 3. Jesus isnt God he was Gods first creation, the devil showed him the kingdoms of the earth obviously in a vision or sum sort of super natrual way no one can see that far. 4. Deut 13:'17 says nothing bout unicorns??? 5. sumtimes the bible uses the word "earth" and "world" 2 symbolize the human race
1. Nice excuse. It was a common belief that the Earth was flat during Ancient Israel and other ancient kingdoms. A sphere and circle are not the same, look at a basketball and a disc. Don't forget the four corners mentioned in Ezkiel, compass directions aren't corners in case you want to make that excuse. The KJV mentions unicorns numerous times
KJV is a bad translation with heaps of mistakes, the bible sez the circle of the earth translated back in2 ancient hebrew it also means shere, the bible also talks about the earth hanging upon nothing and befor gravity was discovered scientists thought the earth was resting on the back of a giant turtle! but because of gravity the earth does hang upon nothing,
puddin....which one do you think ISN'T a bad translation with heaps of mistakes?
Also, SCIENTISTS have NEVER thought there was a giant turtle. SCIENCE didn't exist until the 16th century. OTHER PEOPLE had that belief as part of their religion, but even they made up a minority of the planet and were NOT a part of the Jewish or surrounding cultures.
Also, the Bible says that the Earth "rests on pillars"...but I suppose that 's a bad translation too, right?
i read a book called truth in translation by Jason D. BeDuhn, he puts all the translations aganst eachother and matches them against the original hebrew and greek texts, the NW translation did the best i have a bunch of bibles, i think science has always existed? gaining knowledge through research? i'll get back 2 u on that pillars one but it will prob be for my opinion of scripture just figurative, pillars r fitting symbols of support, and the earth is well supported but i'll do sum research
Why does the word of God contradict itself?

i'm atheist but the bible got it right.
the four corners mean E,W,S,N
read isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth-
The original word is chug. The cognate verb means "to draw a circle." The noun means horizon -- circle which defines the edge of your vision. It is extremely interpretive to understand the term as orb or sphere. In Hebrew aslo have similar word Dur but it's to show object from FOV (as if you see it from outside). The word chug show that you are inside the Dur.
midliong 1 month ago

Why does the bible cone out with all this "poetic talk" crap and not give us clear unambigious answers.
tomecrawford 5 months ago
Is is obvious the bible writers thought the world was flat. See Revelation 7:1 it says" I say four angels standing at the four corners of the world" biblethumpingatheist.co.uk
tomecrawford 5 months ago

When you read those Babylonian myths: Enumah Elish, Adapa and the South Wind, AtraHasis and the Epic of Gilgamesh, you will know that the Hebrew Scribes took from these stories to make up the Genesis myth in the Bible. So Judaism, Christianity and Islam all go down in flames because their Holy Books are not from God.
freedomfighterone 11 months ago

The mainstream view that land and sea exist as a globe is absurd n fictitious.
maikelmakinde11 5 months ago
Thats not honest, you claim there is a dome in genesis. The firmement is the sky trust me. gen 1:20 fowl may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.)) the firmement is open sky where bird fly(fowl are birds). gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. Heaven means the skys.

rangoon03 1 year ago
@rangoon03 Holy shit! Are you serious? Do you know what a compass is? No...not the thing you use to figure out which way is north...Why would an omniscient god need to put one of those on the Earth? Now, can you guess what shape is made when you do this?
A FREAKING CIRCLE!

IMBUED 1 year ago
@IMBUED This video isn't directed at Kabbalists but instead young earth creationists and others that think that the Bible is meant as literal. It's not ME that thinks it's literal...it's them.
If you complete the rest of the series, you may be surprised at what I'm actually getting at here...you may even decide that you agree.

RustyShackleford1776 1 year ago
@KingHeathen He (IMBUED) is not saying you take the bible litterally if you did you would believe it. He is saying your interpretation of language is too litteral and hence poor. For an example if the bible says earths inhabitants are as grasshoppers it doesnt mean they looked or even acted like grasshoppers, it just means they are small,(niether is it saying men are that small).
modernrocks 1 year ago
@modernrocks do you not see the difference in that verse and the others in question? It's pretty easy to spot, though granted, it is a tiny word.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen Great vid! Keep fighting with the truth! More and more people are waking up!
freedomfighterone 11 months ago
@IMBUED really now? is that what they meant? then why is that when Galileo went to the pope about his findings that the earth was in fact ROUND and NOT the center of the universe they put him in house arrest for his entire life? The church felt threatened by this so much so that they convicted him to death claiming he was a demon. They have since proven that the earth is not the center of anything not the universe, not the galaxy. So if it meant no vertical path then why did they do that to him?
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Who said the church understood it either? They inherited the literal, not understanding the unlying understanding, They read it like you do. And can't even follow the simplest requierments of thier own religon. And you think they are good canidates for any sort of position to consider them as a fair representative? Anyone can consider themselves to be whatever they want without meeting requirements, Many think themselves as great, but do nothing "great", they don't go anywhere.
IMBUED 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 on a side note, theres older hermetic texts that knew the earth was round and moving in space. It's delusional for you to think the entire world thought the world was flat, off one ignorant mans actions. It's the same mental attitude a rascist has, making large conclusions on very little fact. and lack any perspective on the an entire picture.
IMBUED 1 year ago
If you attempted to explain the universe with your current knowledge...in a few thousand years...someone will be scoffing at the inaccuracies due to your ignorance of all of the facts/truths. How does a village person in a remote area without technology even begin to explain the world around him? He invents a story to make sense of reality. Like the dreamtime stories. Does not mean they are true.
JubblyJack 1 year ago

KingHeathen 1 year ago
JubblyJack 1 year ago
@JubblyJack I know what you are attempting to do. But your ignorance of what IS found in the record as compared to the claims of the Bible is your downfall. Here's a TINY LITTLE DETAIL that you may have forgotten....
PLANTS ARE MADE BEFORE THE SUN!!!!!!! (according to the Bible.)
Beyond that, it names birds BEFORE insects (WRONG!) Whales before land mammals (WRONG!) It even says that God made "cattle" yet it was MAN that bred "cattle" from other wild species.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen Genesis 1:3 light was created and separated from the dark. So plants had light for photosynthesis. You can't have green plants without light. Grass, vegetation, fruit trees, plants with seeds next. Then the sun and moon. Fish and birds. Animals. Including those which humans domesticated. The timeline is not an actually 6x24hours day. It is only men trying to explain what they knew about how things began. Not necessarily 100% accurate.
JubblyJack 1 year ago
@JubblyJack What you are doing is called "Confirmation Bias." You are ignoring everything that tells you that you are wrong and trying to force other parts to fit your preconceived notion. In short, counting the hits and ignoring the misses!
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen Maybe because I was indocrinated growing up to believe that the Bible is the truth. To believe in angels, God and Jesus Christ and in demons and the devil. But I've wondered about the cruelty of old testament Jehovah and the softening of him in the new testament. and why prayers are answered for some of the people some of the time and for others none of the time. I'm always wondering about why things are the way they are.
JubblyJack 1 year ago
@JubblyJack Check out my "Word of God?" series...you may find some of those answers in there.
KingHeathen 1 year ago

JubblyJack 1 year ago
@JubblyJack I address that specific verse in part 2. It also calls the Earth a flat disk.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen
Experientially, even the sun and the moon are discs, one has only to look into the sky without the defining lens of post-Galilean science. In such a view, the sun and moon rise and set, the stars are indeed tiny lights affixed to the night dome, some of those lights even wander about and some fall to the earth.
EvenGodsSuffer 1 year ago

An omniscient god would have understood the impracticality of having the universe go around a stationary earth.

An omniscient god would have known he was going to make the mistakes he did make, and not blame his creation for them.

Isaiah 40:22 is unequivocally referring to a circle in the hebrew text, not a sphere. The meaning thereof within the context is absolutely lucid. Only willful ignorance or an obstinate preconceived desire can account for the claim that it refers to a sphere.
silver2screen 1 year ago
So its a circle, at that time thats a pretty big statement to make. A circle a sphere, not a huge difference, not exactly square is it. Why do atheists feel that they have to prove their point against Christians or Jews or Muslims? What drives you to put videos up like this, if there is no God, why get so worked up about it.

But, don't you think all of these are rather very typical of you?! Nice scapegoating! I loved the empty sarcasm though. As for visions, nope..he didn't himself mention that the seeing of the world flat from mountain-top was a vision, he simply said this is how christians respond to it which is as ridiculous as any other christian apologetics.
silver2screen 1 year ago
@silver2screen Okay, let me see. You are right, the words "this was a vision" are not in the text. But you and King heathen seem to think that this is saying that the earth is flat. I will use your method of exegesis then. The words, I will show you on this flat earth, are not present either, so saying that this is evidence for the Bible teaching a flat earth is invalid. my point still stands. What is the problem with how I respond to it. you didn't address the rest of it.
Follower172 1 year ago
@Follower172 This guy (kingheathen) has told you on several occassions that he has read the bible cover to cover AS A BELIEVER. By this what he means is, his approach towards understanding the message thereof has always been intensely concordist. But, biblical texts are often so explicit and unequivocal in implication that the sanity within the reader finds no other alternative but to accept the only intended apparent meaning which is in clear conflict with established scientific realities.
silver2screen 1 year ago

It just happened THEN AND THERE!
silver2screen 1 year ago
@silver2screen I all ready agreed that the text doesn't say "this was a vision." It also doesn't say "the earth is flat" which is what you and King heathen think it says. So you are being just as boneheaded as you think I am. Apply your standards of the christian to yourself! There is another possibility here as well. i know you wont accept it, but you have to admit the possibility. World, in the greek can mean several things, inhabited earth, local population, all races of people...
Follower172 1 year ago

Rather, in greek it does NOT even mean "particular division of earth" unlike eng.
silver2screen 1 year ago
@Follower172 -(dictionary(.)com). Thats the nature of language. It doesn't mean you can cherry pick any meaning out of there and apply it wherever you want. The meaning of a word in a language is derived from the CONTEXT in accordance with the strict rules of that language(i.e. grammar). For example, one of the meanings of the eng. word "world" you would find is: "a particular division of the earth".Example: "the Western world." (dictionary(.)com)
silver2screen 1 year ago
@Follower172 - As clearly described in any lexicon, Greek "kosmos" is ALWAYS used to denote the ENTIRITY of the physical universe/world. By metonymy, as vines describes, it may refer to the inhabitants thereof; i.e. Mankind as a whole. To restrain its meaning to a certain locality is an outright falsification or a work of pure ignorant. On the intellectual level, it is laughable. Consult any greek lexicologist, lolz. Besides, even the english word "world" has as many as 24 different meanings. -
silver2screen 1 year ago
@Follower172 - Greek word: kosmos
Strong's no:G2889
Part of spch: masc. noun
1. A harmonious arrangement or oder, adornment
2. The entire world, the universe

Coz the CHRISTIAN judge used his favorite biblical method of interpretation and concluded:"The witness meant to have a vision,he didn't see a murder".
silver2screen 1 year ago
@silver2screen so inhabited earth isn't the same as "inhabitants of the world"? And it is not always used to denote the entirity of the physical universe! You are a classic example of someone with no education or background in greek who finds a dictionary and doesn't know how to use it. I didn't say that the text was meaning "local area" i said some people view it that way, and it is possible. You are attacking something I didn't say because you are losing the argument.
Follower172 1 year ago
If you can't look up greek lexicons(which you surely can't), just go to dictioary(.)com and look up the english word "cosmos". Under "word origin and history" you will see a detailed description of the greek root "kosmos". YES! the same word in bible! This greek word is where the english "cosmos" came from. You will see the definition of greek "kosmos" goes word by word -"the whole physical world, including the earth.."(online etymolgy dictionary(c) 2010 Douglas Harper). Yes,WHOLE physical world
silver2screen 1 year ago
I have quoted most notable lexical works on greek which deny OUTRIGHT the possibility that you are so dreaming about! And in that established context, not even in dreams. Anyway, again it ALWAYS refers to the "universality/entirity" of the world that we live in. "Universality" is the idea that the word is rooted upon. "Local" is antonym to "universal", a word can not have meanings tht oppose each other. The english "cosmos" is a direct derivative of tht greek meaning "universe/world as a whole"
silver2screen 1 year ago

When told: "The reality as to the actual age of earth has been established as billions of years scientifically, biblical account of 6000 yrs old earth is completely erroneous", we get as answer: "Oh well! god made it look like its billion yrs, while actually its just 6000 yrs! god just gives us this wrong vision!
silver2screen 1 year ago
@silver2screen You can't say it is fallacious and just walk away like you are right. HOW is it fallacious? It is perfectly reasonable to think it was a vision. In your mind, if there is any difficulty understanding something, it is automatically wrong in the Bible. And as far as the age of the earth, it isn't established. It is believed based on the fossil record, geologic column, radiometric dating and assumption. In that order, and each of which can be shown to have its problems.
Follower172 1 year ago
@Follower172 There is an animal with one horn and its called the rhinoceros and though the bible lexicon says the unicorn is of unk. origen. The rhino does fall in with the hooved horse family and are considered wild and fierce and strong. But I don't know for sure, just thinking out loud.
JimmyCarol100 1 year ago
@JimmyCarol100 I have no problem with it being a rhino, but the Bible doesn't say. My entire point is that it uses a word that meant something back then. We see it today and assume that it means what we want it to mean, or that it is the same thing as a fantasy book. All the word unicorn means is one horn! It could have been a rhino. It could have been a horse with a horn. I just think it is unfair and absurd to just say that because the word is there the Bible must be false
Follower172 1 year ago
@Follower172 Look I did'nt say the Bible is false. And all I did was give a thought. And depending on who's dictionary you r using unicorn like all words translate too many different things. As for bible meaning in Hebrew=Re em and read the 9 verses and how its used, I would think it meant some type of wild ox or bull from a side view giving it a 1 horn appearance. BTW, I BELIEVE IN GOD =PEACE and have a nice day.

There are other verses which mention the four corners of the earth. So is it a flat circle or a flat square?
HonestTechnoAtheist 1 year ago
@HonestTechnoAtheist Or maybe four corners of the eart means "from all over the earth." Again, why can't people in the Bible use figures of speech?

KingHeathen 1 year ago

@derek0325 You don't know that I didn't quote them because you haven't watched the video. Just keep watching, maybe YOU'LL get something out of it!
BTW, I've read the entire Bible 3 times, cover to cover.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@derek0325 lol 3 times. That's not enough to gain any kind of understanding. it takes study, not cover to cover reading. The bible was written over the course of 1600 years with 2000+ fulfilled prophecies and you think you can disprove the bible by only reading it 3 times gl with that
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 Wow...are you really that block-headed? I didn't say that I ONLY read it straight through 3 times and then NEVER TOUCHED IT AGAIN!!!!
I HAVE studied it intensely. I did so AS A BELIEVER. But it brought up questions, questions that I had to search for answers to try to justify 1000's of contradictions and errors, answers that led to one and ONLY one conclusion...
But look at you...you can't even make it to part 2 of a video, so what do you know about "studying" anything in depth?
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen 1000s of contradictions and errors? out of that many I would like you to give me one. Good luck because there aren't any. it will be like Ponce deLeon searching for the fountain of youth
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 I will give you one off the top of my head. In Matthew Jesus says, "I will be with you till the end of the world." In the original Hebrew version of the bible, it actually says, "I will be be with you till the end of the aeon." That completely changes the meaning of that sentence. An aeon or age is roughly 2100 years according to the phenomenon know as the Precession of the Equinoxes. And according to that , the time of Jesus is almost over.
baphxiii 1 year ago
@derek0325 I'll happily give you one...

Goldie450 1 year ago
@derek0325 The bible was not written over the course of 1600 years. EVERYTHING in the bible was taken from older cultures, mainly ancient Egypt. Nothing in the christian bible is original. It is all mythology. Not truth. And 2000+ prophecies fulfilled huh? If you make any statement vague enough, someone someplace will see it at a prophecy. If you would bother to understand history, you can easily see where the bible came from. And it was not from you god.
baphxiii 1 year ago
@derek0325 I love when christians say that the bible contains thousands of prophecies. I don't care about ones the the OT made and the NT fullfilled. That is circular reasoning. And I don't care about vague ones either such as one day Israel will be fighting or one day people will talk smack about this book. I need something really specific here.

I'll keep waiting, but I'm sure it'll be a while.
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 OK how about the most obvious one I can think of and the thing that helped me deconvert from christianity.
God is omnibenevolent and loves you more than anything yet he has made a special place for you to go where you will regret very much to go if you don't believe that he exists. The bible says that everything came as it was in its present form. Evolution has disproved this.
HonestTechnoAtheist 1 year ago
@derek0325 You only want ONE example of an error or contradiction? I already GAVE you one...you didn't reply to it. Do you want another? OK...since the last one required to much effort out of you to research it (I guess) how about that the Bible claims rabbits eat their cud. (Duet 14:7) They don't. Would you like another one?
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@HonestTechnoAtheist btw to me personally i dont care if theres 1 fulfilled prophecy or 5000 in the bible, the work of the Holy Spirit proves God exists thank you very much. Jesus Christ is Lord!
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 "the work of the holy spirit proves god exists" Ok now give me some evidence for the holy spirit. I think I will say something like the invisible pink unicorn proves the holy spirit exists.
HonestTechnoAtheist 1 year ago
@HonestTechnoAtheist The Holy Spirit is a part of God ! Show me that oxygen exists. please, I don't believe this phenomena is true until I see it. Hurry if I can't breath without it I have to find it quick! I'm serious show me where it is I don't want to die. Rofl
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 Oxygen itself is an invisible gas but you know it exists because you are breating it right now. Oxygen is part of nature and the natural realm and thus does not need extrodinary evidence to proove it. Where as extrordinary things such as dieties and ghosts do.
HonestTechnoAtheist 1 year ago
@HonestTechnoAtheist A supernatural work of the Holy Spirit needs no more proving than the Oxygen you breathe when it occurs to you XD
derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 Sorry but yes it does. If I told you that there was a green polar bear living in your freezer you would probably want some proof.
HonestTechnoAtheist 1 year ago
@HonestTechnoAtheist Actually...oxygen (as a gas) may be invisible to the naked eye, but it can be tested for and proven to exist. But more importantly, like all gasses, it can also be cooled to form LIQUID oxygen and be seen easily.

derek0325 1 year ago
@derek0325 Can you quote me the verse that says it's a vision? Of course not. You are trying to justify what was simply meant as a story...even as a "vision"...the story still doesn't work. Come on now...you can do it...go watch part 2.

So Does the Bible say the world is flat?
No it never said that, even though people, and "scientists" back in the day believed that like this moron
More than 2,000 years before those voyages, the Bible said at Isaiah 40:22:
There is One who is dwelling above the CIRCLE of the earth, or as other translations say, the GLOBE of the earth (Douay), the ROUND earth. (Moffatt)
I Don't think a globe can be flat do you?
5eurocups2005 1 year ago
@5eurocups2005
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen One Word....(Globe)
The circle is a metaphor. They didn't actually know back then. Remember they thought the Earth was flat until they found the "New World"?
5eurocups2005 1 year ago
@5eurocups2005
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen You still have not answered my question your kind of avoiding it, can a Globe be Flat?
5eurocups2005 1 year ago
@5eurocups2005 The Bible doesn't say "globe" so it's irrelevant, but no. Can a coin be spherical? Can a sphere have "edges"? Can it be shaken by its edges?
AGAIN....continue on to part 2...I address ALL of your counters.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen The Bible actually teaches a spherical shape for the earth. In Isaiah 40:22 God is said to sit above the circle of the earth (the Hebrew word for circle can also mean a sphere). Also, in Luke 17:3436 Christ's Second Coming is portrayed as occurring while some are asleep at night and others are working at daytime activities — which means a rotating earth with day and night at the same time.
5eurocups2005 1 year ago
@5eurocups2005 You've already mentioned Isaiah...I've already countered it...I've already told you to move on to part 3.
As to Luke...keep in mind that this idea that the Rapture was to come didn't even exist until the 1700'S!!!!! But to satisfy your suggestion that this proves a spherical Earth...the verse never says both events happen at the same time. The idea wasn't that it would all happen instantly...but instead, throughout the day.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@5eurocups2005 Actually "Duwr" means a sphere or ball in Hebrew, which isn't used in Isaiah 40:22. "Chuwg" means circle in Hebrew.

Everyone thought the world was flat, including the men who wrote the bible.

Mark 13:24,25 is talking about celestreal phenomenom and of coarse when the sun is darkened the moon will with hold its light like u sed it reflects the sun but back then people didnt kno that, and when it sez the stars falling from heaven its symbolic talkin about the angels just like Job 38:7 does and rev 12 3:4. 8.
HybridD91 1 year ago
KJV is a bad translation with heaps of mistakes, the bible sez the circle of the earth translated back in2 ancient hebrew it also means shere, the bible also talks about the earth hanging upon nothing and befor gravity was discovered scientists thought the earth was resting on the back of a giant turtle! but because of gravity the earth does hang upon nothing,
wantsumpuddin 1 year ago
puddin....which one do you think ISN'T a bad translation with heaps of mistakes?
Also, SCIENTISTS have NEVER thought there was a giant turtle. SCIENCE didn't exist until the 16th century. OTHER PEOPLE had that belief as part of their religion, but even they made up a minority of the planet and were NOT a part of the Jewish or surrounding cultures.
Also, the Bible says that the Earth "rests on pillars"...but I suppose that 's a bad translation too, right?
KingHeathen 1 year ago
i read a book called truth in translation by Jason D.
