  • GENIO!

  • Absolutely fantastic!!!!

    =))

  • wow

  • His sound amazes me every time--one of the most gorgeous sounds I've ever heard.

  • Music looks difficult but idiomatic. Stylish performance.

  • Excellent, I was used to Ana Vidovic's version which is really fast but David Russell surprised me in a positive way :)

  • lovely music - nice interpretation :-)

  • I think at 3:05 you can hear him make a slight mistake, as he hits another string, sounds like a small "dint".

  • nobody is perfect at all

  • C´mon, what's the purpose of searching mistakes like a detective? What the importance of this grain of sand when it´s close to a sea of good music?

  • @Theonedue SO WHAT ?!

  • Russell plays this well enough but this is Julian Bream music and nobody plays the bagatelles like Bream. When one is familiar with Breams recording it is hard to listen to other interpretations ,usually lesser ones.

  • I tried so hard to get the bagatelles from bream... cant find it anywhere..! There is just " Lento " from him on youtube !

  • Have you ever heard Sharon Ibsen play the Walton Bagatelles? Her recording of these pieces is brilliant. Is she is better than Julian Bream in his prime? I honestly don't know or care - they are both valuable. And of course, Sir Julian gets major props for persuading William Walton to compose for guitar.

David Russell is very good too.

  • David russel is in a different league than Sharon Isben. Bream on the other hand is hands down one of the greatest and most expressive musicians of the 20th century.

  • agreed in full!

  • dude, bream is getting more and more "prime" every day

  • Precisely. Competence is beautiful, but Bream goes beyond that.

  • Russell is the best

  • Excellent.

  • European sense of music .....great interpretation ......not like Kaori Muraj that suonds like a Midi!!!!

  • de las pocas veces que he visto a russell tocar musica mas contemporanea

  • Can someone PLEASE upload the version from Julian Bream ? Ive never had the pleasure to listen to it..... There is only one "bagatelle" from bream here on youtube " Lento " its unbelieveable... Still: This is just awesome... truly virtuoso !

  • David es impresionante y me encanto su version.

Pero hasta el momento, en mi opinion, la mejor version es la de Alvaro Pierri.

  • unlike vidovic and su meng, russel plays it with a control and appreciation for everything thats going on that very few people on the earth have.

  • agreed, he doesn't just rush through the song like vidovic, however, she's still pretty young i'm hoping she'll come around

  • the better i get at playing the guitar the more i can apprecciate this

  • He's the best.

  • Amasingly very vivid performance of David. Each tone is living and dancing! He is really great musicin. Thank you for posting.

  • muy bueno

  • Buen material. David Russell nunca grabó oficialmente las Bagatelles de William Walton. Estas cinco piezas fueron escritas y dedicadas a Julian Bream, y estrenadas por él.
