  • And you finished in about 7 minutes.

Isn't that a new world record or something?

  • Given many things I'd think would be faster, I take this isn't so much of an "speedrun" as just messing around with the bosses?

I mean, using Ball at the Paint Roller and Mr. Shine/Bright battles would've made them much faster, or keeping any power at Dedede. Though to be honest not as interesting. (Particularly the part with Kracko was awesome)

Unless I'm actually terribly wrong and that would be in fact slower.

  • @ViperKirby

"Messing around" is a pretty good description. :)

It would definitely be faster to use better powers or keep UFO. Even Metaknight could be sped up by just using the normal B attack instead of jumping and sliding all over the place. (Note how much damage he takes from each attack.)

  • I liked it up until Kracko and King Dedede I don't mind if you use save states so you can keep playing the bosses until your flawless but being immune to damage is a cheap cop out

  • @AngelicaValentine What do you mean? Kirby isn't immune to damage. He just doesn't take damage because none of the bosses hit him.

  • @YtterbiJum I don't know what version your playing but Kracko's whole body can inflict damage and hovering in his eye does not make you immune, hell at 2:37 you even fly through his top spikes and still take no damage. That's not skill, that's screwing with the games damage calculation

  • @AngelicaValentine Kracko (as well as all other bosses and subbosses) can neither receive nor inflict damage while during the "flashing" animation after being hit. That's why Kirby can be safely inside Kracko's eye. It's also why the last shot with UFO passes right through Kracko without hitting him.

Collision detection in NES games in general tends to be rather weird, and a lot of TASes take advantage of that for entertainment and speed. No cheat codes or ROM hacking needed. :)

  • I think that cheating. were you cheating dude?

  • This guy defeated every boss without ever getting hit. I can't even get to the bank before it closes.

  • @TheDirector999 You should try a TAB (Tool Assisted Bank-run). With savestates and re-recording, you can "guess" the password to any online bank account and withdraw as much money as you want. :)

  • hilarious how kirby goes right through enemies without getting hurt.

  • Kirby on a killing spree?

  • Kirby's cute.

  • This is on a PC emulator. I can tell because in the ending, where it shows a computer-controlled Kirby fighting the boses, he makes mistakes. In the actual NES ending, CPU Kirby plays perfectly and acts differently.

Usually a "TAS" is done on an emulator with slow-motion, save states, and frame modification, thus the end result is "perfect."

  • This was done on an emulator, as stated in the video description. However, the ending is emulated correctly; you get different endings if you beat the game normally and if you beat "vs Boss" mode.

  • i no understand..

  • I love how kirby mocks DeDeDe...

  • What 'tool' did you use?

  • Wierd...these are the same bosses as in "kirby: nightmare in dream land". Are the two games similar (ie. Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland is a remake)?

  • Basically, all Kirby games have similar bosses.

  • Yep. It is a remake.

  • @Flailthefox To my knowledge it is a remake but I think some things differ from the original.

  • @skysamfreeman You can play as Meta Knight for example.

  • The bit with the parasol in the second fight was funny. >_>
