I denied that he a cross-dresser, but just playing as a role as girl idol while holding his manliness to the world 1 day for sure. You can also say that his appearance can be mistake as a girl than a boy body.

Because the agency told him to. He started out wanting to be a male idol and went to 876 Productions but they had an incident where a female idol was unable to perform so in the last minute Ryo went on stage as a female idol and the fans loved so the agency decided to have Ryo perform as a female idol for the time being. Bottom line read about his background story before jumping to conclusions and so you know, Crossdressing =/= gay. Read about it.

They just describe him as an effeminate boy and wanting to be an idol so he can be more masculine. He almost have the same predicament as Makoto and we know she isn't gay. The only time his orientation was questioned was with Hibiki. As far as I know, he probably is but, I wouldn't draw that conclusion based on him wearing a dress and his personality.

gay: attracted to same gender.

Very different terms there. Ryo may be a crossdresser, but he's definitely straight.

Yes, but there are plenty of male characters voiced by girls that still sound like boys. In fact, two of them (Kagamine Len and Alphonse Elric [Japanese version]) were voiced by the same voice actors for two idols from The Idolm@ster, namely Ami/Mami for Len and Iori for Alphonse.

Other examples of boy characters voiced by girls are Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh, Ash/Satoshi from Pokemon (both Japanese and English) and even Bart Simpson, yet they still sound like boys.
