I like these sets, not because they're gay as fuck, but because what these two players are trying to do. Armada has picked up a second character in order to deal with a problem (jiggs), and in turn Hbox must decide whether to make the same choice and pick a second character. Hbox is refusing to do that though, deciding that he will fix the weaknesses of his main by himself, which I kind of like. So stfu haters.

I agree man, the people who are obsessed with flashy play are what give the Melee community a bad reputation. I personally hate playing the chess match, but its great to watch two top level pros go at it. Besides, its still better than Brawl any way you swing it because it still fast paced.

When Armada's getting leads and then keeping them for 8 minutes and hbox is flailing at the air hopelessly for a few games like at genesis 2, this matchup's unwatchable (not that I think they should play it different, it's just not fun to watch). When it's super tight and they're trading 6% leads all match long, the back-and-forth is fascinating and it's incredibly fun to watch. Great sets.

Jiggs wins the spacing game vs Peach by a long shot. You'd basically see Armada get outcamped with no possible way of fighting back. Ylink works for him, and it's not his fault that Hbox refuses to play a secondary.

I wanted a char that had at least a decent MU against puff. But I also wanted a char that Hbox had no experince against. The last reason take away chars like Marth/Sheik.

I wanted to play a char people don't see much in tournament cause no one could saw it coming. So I started practice with Hack (mostly) with Y link I understood that this counterpick was a good choice. But it needed some thoughs and practice and in the end It was a happy ending =)

@ArmadaUGS Oh, that makes perfect sense! I used to love Young Link, I was never and probably never will be as good as you are with him, but he was my first character in Melee that I "mained." You played a good match, it isn't as flashy and it definitely isn't as fast, but the whole time I was (like the commentators said) imagining a game of chess. Brilliant counter play and amazing defense!

Hbox has taken a ton of flak for winning by "playing gay," so Armada answered him. Armada came up with the game plan and the preparation to give himself the best chance at winning, he did his homework. No shame in that at all.

I don't really like this. Armada's only playing the matchup so well because he has 3-sigma reflexes. It's not really something most smashers can emulate, so it's hard to get inspired. If this is what the metagame evolves into, all you can do with standard reflexes is shrug and say 'welp, I'm out'

These guys were MUCH better than Phil and Home Made Bitchface, but they still whined about the pace of the match. If you're gonna commentate on a set, you should NEVER complain about it, its very disrespectful to the players AND the people who are enjoying watching the set. Playing an hours worth of grudge matches takes just as much skill and devotion as developing sick tech skill.

Why not get a Young Link and/or Jiggs main to commentate on the set instead?

After that it just devolved into sitting under a platform so HBox won't get hit while armada throws bombs so HBox won't approach, no tactic just run down the clock since the other guy won't budge from his spot.
