Hell Yeah!!!!! I first heard this on Soul Train when they were going down the line!!! Was really cool to see people get down and dance to this when dancing was dancing and Music was music!!!! Sad that RB died the way it did. What is considered R&B now really is watered down. I loved this !!!! Bring em back !!!!!
I fail to understand why folks ALWAYS ignore this R&B hit by Skyy. They think of "Call Me" and then fast forward to "Start of a Romance" and "It's Real Love", but overlook "Givin' it to You" (which, honestly, sounds FARRRRRRRR better than the two former songs due to that electro-synth-funk sound!). In my opinion, this is by far their best sounding hit. Not really the video version, but the longer version, which still sounds FULL of bass and energy today!
WOW! As much as I love Skyy and this groove never knew they actually had a video for this jam! Thanks for the post! Love the 80's baby!! real music lives on.........
The Octave Voyetra-8 is a very good polyphonic synthesizer, for its time, I've been surprised to read how much it's critisized,on some forums, by people who used to own one ... I gotta get one of these vintage synth one day...whatever the cost !!
Octave Voyetra-8 synth ... (@owner of the video : man, the line-up you quoted is uncomplete...you forget that Skyy changed a bit by late 1981/early 1982; when Larry Greenberg left and was replaced by the other keyboardist, Wayne Wilentz (who plays on that one...)
Top 10 R&B hit in 1986! I don't understand why more old school r&b stations don't play this song more!! It was a very memorable old school hit that year!
Not sure about the Steve Arrington thing...I thought the guy that had his hands on the Brass Construction project had a lot to do with Skyy. Just what I thought I remembered. Great song...This woman had a very classic 80's voice...very distinguishable.
This song has a sort of a Slave vibe to it. I can hear Steve Arrington in this when Solomon Roberts is singing "Straight from the left side" Nice song from back in the day
Actually, I was the keyboardist at the time of this video, not Larry. I know it doesn't look it, but we shot this at Kaufman Astoria studio, and it was about 120 degrees in the studio!
One of the most underrated vocalist of the 80's....check Real Love if u don't believe me.
