I personally have nothing against snipers just camping on a hill (coz this is what snipers in RL do), but there should be limit 2-3 snipers per team. I hate when half of team is just camping snipers... And most of them suck.

@benblitzkrieg the dots are used to judging bullet drop. in real life they have a definite meaning(first down being 500m, 2nd 1000m, ect).In bf, there there just to help the sniper keep on target by placing the enemy on target by referencing the dots and knowledge of previous shots and ranges. The sniper rifles have different shot speeds(and thus drop) so you have to figure out what the dots ranges reference for each rifle.

@JSoroke the drop of the 9 m/s without silencer makes it hard enough. with 15-20m/s the silencer delevers. enemys wont even be at the bottom of your scope at the rate of the bullet drop.

i personally hate playing as sniper and im bad at it but i dont whine about snipers being useless. its true that they logically have the lowest spm and theyre generally lone-wolfing but theyre very important for maintaining stable spawn positions for their squad, marking targets, designating vehicles for javelins (snipers need to do this more) and most importantly making sure that the other team is on their back foot and that they have to keep moving and keep their curious heads down.

@MOZZWIGAN CORRECTION: Those guys are somewhat wrong about that.THERE IS ONE SHOT ONE KILL possible, IF AND ONLY IF, the enemy is relatively close. There is BF3 website (wiki type) that shows the damage that decreases over distance for each sniper rifle's bullets. As long as the target is relatively close, one shot on the body will guarantee a 1 hit kill. I do it all the time. No head shot req.However at long range headshot must be done to get 1 hit kill.

This is bf, every kind of class is needed, so is sniper.

@wowsucksgg It is effective at concealing your position from enemy snipers. As long as you have a good hiding spot, in a lot of brush/bushes, it is very hard to spot you unless they can see your muzzle flash. However, with any high-powered scope, your going to be spotted from your scope shine anyway, if you point at people long enough for them to notice. So it can be seen as pointless if not used properly. Also, as long as you hit the person in the head, the decrease in damage doesn't matter lol

@wowsucksgg in real life suppressors are terrific, but not on a bolt action sniper rifle. you see bolt actions create long range capabilities. semi auto sniper rifles are used in closer quarter situations such as being in an urban combat area when concealing yourself is key. use a supressor in close combat situations in the game not 500 meter long shots

@Whaticx No, the bullet drop is worse. Meaning, it drops more because you have to use lower velocity rounds with a silencer. So, the drop is worse and the damage is decreased at longer ranges so you have to try to get head shots if you don't want to have to pump a few rounds into the person lol.

Great video, that is what sniper should be doing, taking guys from distance, spot and route his squad to flank enemies. I hate when whiners who wants to run like mad get picked off and then dice puts flashlight on recon head.
