  • The best vercion GERMAN!!!

  • \../ WACKÖÖÖÖÖÖN !!! \../

  • Auch auf Englisch der Hammer! \../

  • OOMPH, DERO PLEASE JUST KEEP SINGING IN GERMAN!

OOMPH, DERO Bitte einfach singe auf Deutsch!

  • the guy looks like the kkk no offense

  • The rich dad is a prick >.>

  • It's not as good

  • I don't like the English version

  • Dero is awesome squared in both languages!

  • Deshalb habe ich Oomph Liebe

  • THIS IS WRONG, I speak German and the english translation of this song is wrong, hence the beginning for instance: Deutscheland= GERMANY

  • @kikarox12 Songs often differ significantly between different-language versions. Oftentimes artists just can't make the same lyrics work in different languages because different languages have different cadences in addition to the words simply being DIFFERENT. Keep in mind that this isn't a TRANSLATION, it's Oomph's English version of the song.

  • @kikarox12 Considering you spelled "Deutschland" incorrectly, I doubt you speak German.

  • @Mammothman333 Actually, I DO speak German, ever heard of a typo? And yes, I fully realize my minor spelling error, mistakes happen. I know Germany is Deutschland.

  • german and english i love them either way!

  • man if they made all their songs in english they would have so many more fans.

  • The reason why the translation is because if u directly translated it just doesn't fit......

  • I prefer german version.

  • @Diegocrue Dear,we always sing a song in his mother tongue, when u translate the song,u kill the rhymes and ritm of the song!

  • Im glad they changed it to an english version... I don't understand german

  • better in german practically a diffrent song

  • this song makes europe sound fucked up man

  • Both versions are great...so i got them both 8D

  • The difference between the german and english videos are interesting, the german version is actually mirrored, and the message about germany (and hunger?) appears before the song ends. Interesting to see the visual differences. I enjoy both versions but obviously if you listen to the german version its more about germany than europe. Ah well!

  • The English version is talking about Europe, because presumably people who don't know German listen to it. It's useless to talk about Germany's problems in that situation.

Btw, I think the translation isn't bad, but German sounds better.

  • Armes Deutschland= poor germany, not europe XD

  • isnt duestchland (spelling) germany??

  • @portoso89 yeah Deutschland is Germany, but they changed it in the english version. they changed more words. i think to make it sound better, not sure tho.

  • Has anyone noticed that they turn around the image on their english versions? Everything perviously done with the right hand, is now done by the left and so on...

Or is it just me? o.O

  • lol best song

  • На немецком лучше. :3

  • Классная песня. Но все-таки песни на немецком языке звучат круче!!!

  • Классная песня. Но все таки песни на немецком языке звучат круче!!!

  • That song just makes me like German more.... It's a much better structured language than English.... You just can say want you want without inaccuracies...

  • @TrickyNekro But doesnt that makes English more flexible then German? You can be more creative in English then in German.

  • @TheCalvincurtis

My mother tongue is Greek and I have the English Proficiency since I was 15 and now I'm 21 and I also only speak German for about 5 months... So comparing these languages, I have 3 things to tell...

The German language is very accurate and you need to know vocabulary to be flexible.

The English language is the most easy to make the other understand.

And I feel bad for the Greek language... It's being lobotomized the recent years, it can be very flexible and easy to speak

  • @TrickyNekro English is a rip off of alot of languages, like german, english in british, is the real english, american english takes what british english is germany spanish all that crap to form one language. just letting you know... woops wrong person >.<

  • haha i speak english too!

  • Comment removed

  • das ist gut music recht da!

  • Clearly a parody as it's not even close to the correct translation. Armes Deutchland translates to 'Poor (as in wealth) Germany' Not to mention all the other inaccuracies!

  • @harshbarj You want to look at the highest rated comments again? -_-

  • Itd be ncie if i can fully understand the lyrics so i can sing along(: anybody want to help a guy out?

  • ich glaube das ist der ungelebtetraume!!!!!!

  • German > English

  • Good god, how can both versions be so amazing?

  • i love their guitars and outfits in this

  • music is ABOVE languages i think....both versions rock the shit out of this world \m/ >< :D

  • The german version makes more sense for the video if you translate what is said at the ending

  • the music, the clothes and the german language, Ich leibe!

  • @DepecheMichelle but with make-up thats British

  • best

  • this ver is more powerful in english im love both vers of the song but this one is good.

  • I dont like it! German version is the best...!

  • This sounds awesome! english and german!

  • soo usaully i prefer a german band to only do german songs but this band is great in both english and german :D

  • considering, he doesnt say "Europe", he says the German word, Deutschland, which means Germany >:l

  • this doesn't sound much like the other version...even translated :o

  • I like it in German better. Mostly because the lullaby he sings in the german version is a play off of a real German lullaby. Also i like the sound of the german one. This one is good don't get me wrong.

  • @chemical2romance Just curious, what is the name of the lullaby it plays on? I can't seem to find it.

  • @VFB1210 The german Lullaby is called La Le Lu by Heinz Ruhmann

  • I guess saying "Germany" instead of Europe would ruin it a bit.

Sounds pretty good in English, yes.

  • I love this band

  • Like like like ! But German version's so much better .....

  • They are so dark and creepy. I love it! <3

  • I love the romeo and juliet feel to the video.

  • poor and greatful or rich and still think you need more???

    hard choice

  • slight video deley

  • @MegaSkuxxx its not really a delay bro, they redo the video sequence and just overdub him in english so the mouthings are still in german lol

  • I think both versions are good. At least now I understand what they are talking about just by listening instead of reading the lyrics.

  • You can really tell that Dero has seen A Clockwork Orange a few times.

  • "Men Of Our Time Improve Yourself KegelMale'

  • I gotta agree, the German version is better. They changed the lyrics a little too much as well if you ask me, go translate the German lyrics and they won't match this version all that closely :(

  • @Hildibjorn that's probably because there's more syllabals in the german language. just be content with what you have. this song is amazing, too. you just have to find a way to enjoy it is all.

  • german version is much better i hate they feel they have to compromise who they are in order to make it

  • I like the German version better. I don't like how they translated it. I think they changed it from "Germany" to "Europe" in order to please American audiences.

  • @TechnoSkittles i dont think so. germany is too many syllabals to match the song. they could have done Deutschland but this is the english version of the song.

  • Why is it Europe? In the german version he says Deutschland which = Germany

  • @mike920217 probly cause it just sounds better

  • i like both vesions. english better thow because i understand it better but german version rocks

  • Calm the fuck down, people. If you had an English band and did German covers, they would be...better... BUT that's not the point. If you did this, it wouldn't sound perfect either... even thought German is the most metal language ever...

  • @t2ghost Yes it is

  • i know its not a straight trans. but even if it was it would still be crap. the origanal is alwas better

  • I'm impressed that the English version doesn't completely suck. besser auf Deutsch...aber nicht schlecht auf Englisch ;)

  • auf deutsch ist der song besser ;)

  • Is the video flipped?

  • the boy and girl look like the kids from the beginning of Ready or Not (here i come) / Augen Auf

  • people put too much thought into the "english version" thats what it is, the english version. NOT a perfect translation. They have the english words different for many reasons from verse structure, to rhymes, to how phrases work in english, and the message to an english speaking audience. Do i think the german version sounds better? yes, i enjoy listening to the german version of all of the songs, but comparing it word to word is pointless.

  • english version sucks, german version is way better

  • Wow as someone who understands German this translation of this song sucks and if you can understand at least a few words in german this song is WAYYYYY better in german

  • this translation sucks

  • why in english version he say europe? in the german version he says deutschland(Germany) :o

  • @BlackBoy1500

it rhymes in english when he says it

  • @BlackBoy1500 They change most of the words to make it work in English :)

  • wow. this can only be a German song. not in a bad way. but in a good one. the music in america kinda sukcs right now.kesha, lady gaa, justin "beaver" biebier (cant spell his last name, never nothered t care how), and other stuff. then their is tis and other Oomph songs.Oomph is better.much.better.

  • anyone notice thats its a reflection of the german version, well the video is.

  • In the German version he says Deutschland (Germany); and in the Version, he says Europe, does that mean that Europe can be referred to as Germany?

  • @lutdabs No, it means it didn't have the correct rythm.

  • @lutdabs germany doesnt rhyme with up, europe does. unforunately, oomph has to change many of their lyrics so that they still rhyme. if u cant understand german, i highly reccomend finding a translator :)

  • wow this is wierd listnin to it in english

  • @XxMaChMaKeRxX

    IKR?

  • English Version!!!!

  • its trippin me out ahaha

  • who does the dub? i've been trying to find their english stuff and cant.

  • I feel it looses something in the english. I don't understand German but I like it more in German. This still rocks! I think it had more meaning in German. My dad translated it for me but they have to keep it ryming in english.

  • Comment removed

  • NOW WHO THE FUCKED DISLIKED IT !

  • it is just me or is all of the english mirrored left to right from the german ones

  • @billdea666 it's because the reduced chance of copyright so everyone can still see it (so none blocks it)

  • Great the english version too...One of the best OOMPH! songs...One amongst a lot of them...

  • I like that I can understand the German version now. haha. Aber ich lieber die deutsche Version

  • @myendisnow well its not europe its germany. and its poor germany , rich germany. the rest sound in translation is fine.

  • @battosai234 haha. That annoyed me a bit that it's different. But meh, Both versions are good.

  • It's just a song, no need to criticize the band just because the lyrics aren't the exact same. I'd like to see you do better, quite frankly, if you think the song lacks meaning.

  • This is Bullshit compared to the German version. The whole song is senseless without the german plot. What is Sandman if you say it in English? A man who's made of sand? What is la le lu in english? Nonsense.

  • @JentHUN Uh well, less-than-proud Yank here, but "Sandman" means the same thing here in English. Perhaps it's a little deeper in German folklore or something, but here a sandman is generally a man or character who uses sand to lull you to sleep, and typically associated with bringing good dreams. The song makes just as much sense, and although I don't like the change from "Poor Germany, rich Germany" to "Europe, wake up" etc I suppose it has more meaning to English speakers of said continent.

  • Also, there are other differences that do change the meaning a bit, and generally Oomph's English versions stay closer to the original, but for the most part, the sentiment is the same. The only line I really have a problem with is "the truth is a big scam" which says to me "what you've been told is bullshit" (which followed by "so let me dream tonight" makes little sense) rather than what I took from the original German, which was essentially "reality is shit, let me escape it in my dreams."

  • @tehlinebeginstoblur I think it makes sense... Alot more sense than 99% of other translated music lol. Especially considering most fans of the band have already looked up the German lyrics and their English translations.

  • This version doesn't make any sense the lyrics don't match at all to the actual german plot behind the video.

  • ...what? Deutschland (I think I spelt that right) means Germany doesn't? D:

  • It loses quite a bit in translation, but it's not bad. Thank you for posting it <3

  • luv this song!! :D

  • I think it's great that this band work so hard to make sure that their awesome songs fit in with the music even if they change the odd word here or there.

They are still one of the best bands I have heard in a long time :D

  • When translating a song, some words and phrases have to be changed so that it can keep the same rhythm in the new language. While Deutschland works in the German one... Germany has too many syllables for it to work in English, so they changed it to Europe because it has that same feel. If it had just been straight translated into English you guys would be complaining that it didn't have the same rhythm and it sounded bad. This is just what happens when songs are translated to other languages.

  • @XxBlackxDovexX Lol. I was always thinking that he sings "Fuhrer, Fuhrer" not "Europe, Europe"

  • @AmraithNR why aways when you hear german singer you all think for nazis?!? IDIOTS

  • I think they changed it to europe because it would fit better in the english version. The word "Germany" would be harder to say in that part instead of "europe". I still think both versions are awesome though!

  • WTF? those arent the german words, its not europe- fucked up, its sick -germany

  • poor Germany, can you see your children, how they queue before the abyss. Ill Germany, can you understand their fear, when they go to sleep. La Le Lu, only the man in the moon watches, when the poor children sleep, then you'll sleep too. La Le Lu, and the little heart freezes over, when the other children ask How much do you have? Sandman, Sandman, put out the lights, the truth is cruel, so give me a dream. Sandman, Sandman, come to my house, sprinkle sand into my eyes and wake me never again
  • O.o wow they do know that the translation sucks lol. in the beginning its not suppose to be Europe, its suppose to be Germany, and its not suppose to say Europe fucked up, its supposed to say Sick Germany and wake up Germany. In :41-1:06 they did a horrible job translating because some of its still in German. LOL such a fail. This might be why everyone likes the German version better.

  • In the german video, when the first words comes, it says the one word, but then it says "Deutschland" Which is Germany, so im not sure how they got Europe Wake up out of that. ~Blaire Bear

  • @ElmoBlaieBear First word is Armes - The phrase being Armes Duetschland (Poor Germany). They've changed the lyrics to be in keeping with the rhythm of the original song, but it is more effective and more enjoyable in its original language in my opinion.

  • @Fuzzylightning Same here, it just seems.. so much more understandable.. ok.. i mean.. they could keep the beat with "Germany" couldn't they..?

  • the problem i usually have with german song going english is that when it gets translated the lyrics usually dont translate well and it makes no sense but Oomph! has done wonders on keeping the meaning of the original german lyric to the english bravo

  • oomph rocks either way. english or german.

but im more fond of the original german verisons.

  • @mullent169 I like the german version better, however think that the english versions lyrics are better.

  • fucking good!

  • The little rich girl is from Rammstein-Rosenrot :DD Rammstein and oomph rocks!

  • oomph is amazing

  • I think the both versions rock

  • Love this song, but I think it's more awesome in German.
