  • were i come from BYOB, means: Bring Your Own Bud ;)

  • Hey there. The springer front end that I used was 2" under but it will completely depend on your fame's dimensions. Usually the fram manufacturer can give you an idea what size you will need depending on the rake.

  • hi

what length is that springer front? how many inches would it stand when i'm ordering?

good video by the way and i'm going to buy the 2 disc dvd! :)

  • With the newer O-ring chains you don't have to douse them with chain lube like the old style which means very little mess. That set up doesn't work too bad and most importantly it looks cool.

  • you got the brake caliper mounted on the sprocket?!? how is that going to slow you down with grease flying of from the chain?

  • cool vids . Thanks for posting .

  • can anybody give me the link to a video that tells me how to adjust my bike so it runs in peak performance

  • very cool the rear sprocket+disc brake combo....

  • I thought they meant like a REAL BIKE not a motorcycle

  • Sorry to say when we shot this in June of 2008 we didn't have the for thought to put one together.

    Build A Hog inc

  • parts list please ?

  • What is this?!?! You have plagiarized the title from BYOB of SOAD....

  • hey man, your video is like you have it all layed out and you are just assemblying the stuff, you are not actually "building" it. You just pick it up and put it in, its not that simple, like you show it, more than actual teaching it looks like propaganda.

  • You know it! It is called a sprotor and is made by Exile Cycles. I have always been a big fan of it because it allows you to get the sprocket and brake on one side leaving the right side of the wheel bare.

    Michael D.

  • am i seeing that correctly did he put a caliper on the sproket?

  • BRING YOUR OWN BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how do you decide on the rear tyre size? if I want to have a 125 cubic inch motor, can I use a 225mm rear?

  • Your tire size is 100% up to you. I have run a super skinny tire on a bike with a 130 inch motor and a 280mm on an 80 cubic inch. It does make sense to throw some extra rubber on the back if you are putting down some serious horse power though but ultimately it comes down to what you want to use your bike for and how you want it to look.

  • Bring Your Own Beer

  • they need to play the song B.Y.O.B from System of a Down xD

  • i thought this is a system of a down music vid./...

    crap shit...

  • Ithought this was a parody of SOAD's BYOB....

  • The springer front end we used in the video is from DNA. You can pick them up from most of the large aftermarket catalogs.

    Thanks,

    Mike Durham

  • where can u buy a springer front end like that?

  • o haha i thought at first this was B.Y.O.B by System of a Down

  • @Super0497 I was about to comment that lol haha.

  • hey, how do i shape a custom rear fender?

  • @aerohells07 If you already have a fender to start with you can use some metal cutting tools like a 4 inch angle grinder and a sander. If you are looking to actually make a fender that is an entirely different world.

  • my mountain bike fork is to short..Do you have a stem in head ? i have 3/4 inch to deal with...after berings and caps...

  • You are right about strange ego, back in 97 I bought a 77 FLH and it was a basket case. So I start to rebuild the engine in a friends shop because the bike was stored there when i bought it. So I go to the Harley shop for valve guides, and they ask who is rebuilding the engine, I say me, they say I should bring it to them, not anyone can take apart a Harley. But they wouldn't sell me the guides.

  • It's an infomercial for rubs.

  • he is just showing how to assemble a mock up....

  • the best bike someone can have is one restored by youreslf or like this. that way its really youres and you know the bike better.

  • amazing resource for beginning riders like me! keep up the awesome work.

  • I dont get this!! If you own a bike you should know all of this!! If you dont bleed or sweat on your bike to make it go it aint yours! This is for some rich ass that got made fun of by blue collar guys so now he can think that he built his bike cute.

  • Unfortunately there has always been a lot of strange ego in my business. Before I went to school for this stuff I apprenticed in a Harley dealership for over a year and continued to learn quite a bit over the next ten years. I like to encourage the understanding and enjoyment of motorcycles to anyone that is interested. I've dedicated a large portion of my life to motorcycles just like most everyone has in their own profession. Without teaching and learning there is just ignorance.

  • I do agree with you on some of this. My big thing is bikes are about passion not looking cool to the next guy. I see alot of guys that buy kit bikes just to say they built it not so that they had a close tight bond with the bike. I bought my 74 sporty in boxes for $800 I have had it for over 5 years and I hav 1500 in all told. I just hit my 75000 mile mark its part of me its not something I own. I put blood sweat and thought into it and its kind enough to let me ride.

  • @elwoodblues173

People have many reasons for building a bike. Grow up. your just enoying now.

  • So the moment I bought my Sportster back in 2003 I should know everything about it?

"If you dont bleed or sweat on your bike to make it go it aint yours!"

Well if that is the case, Since you didn't program the OS on the computer that you are using to connect to the internet and talk all this smack on youtube with is not yours neither. Hell that computer you are using is not yours neither because I doubt you built it. I doubt you even know about a 10th of how your OS works.

    Your logic sucks.

  • @DMalenfant1

well its not realy your own bike its just a kit same as you can buy a computer as a kit and just bolt it together

kit cars ....... kit bike what ever happen to build it yourself

  • @elwoodblues173

not all bike owners are like u.. the least u can do is appreciate or dont comment at all

  • @elwoodblues173

    you're a dork

  • @elwoodblues173

I think this is for those who like to learn as you and I did when we were three feet tall. Don't be a looser and walk a certain way so you can say you walk a certain way. There's guys who love bikes and there's guys who love being affiliated with bikes. true colors will always show.

  • forgot one thing for a "ground up" build.....INSURANCE....correction, AFFORDABLE insurance....virtually impossible to get insurance for a bike like this...believe me, ive tried it...

  • I would say that fabricating the whole thing is building and he is just assembling

  • I agree

  • what's the worst thing to build a chopper frame with stainless steel tube, anyone ?

  • @billymayday Its heavy, and welding it sucks.

  • He made that springer look light holding it with one hand when he slipped into the neck

  • Strap that thing down dude! Some noob will dump everything on the floor (or themself) if its the first time they do this...

  • No offense, this is a great tutorial, but you are not "BUILDING" anything, you are bolting together parts.

  • For someone without any mechanical ability just bolting things is hard. Still, good experience even if it is just "bolt on". Still there's alot of mistakes that can be made, and alot of customizing that needs to be done no matter what.

  • By customizing you mean ordering more parts right? lol

  • Hahahahaha, yeah! Oh man, I just screwed up this kneck cup with a hammer......

  • Yes he is "building". Do you expect a home builder to cut the wood they use? When going to Build-a-bear did you not build a bear because he did not make the stuffing? You talk to be heard and you built a shitty argument.

  • Uh... yeah, they have to cut the wood. The dont order a house framed up and nail the siding on it. Building something requires more than ordering parts and bolting them together. I didnt say he needed his own steel mill, but starting with straight chunks of steel tubing and fabricating them into a frame would be building something. What he's doing is buying parts and putting them together. There is a big differenct between building something on a lathe vs. tightening up bolts.

  • great instructional,, do one on electrical !!!!!!!!!!!check out one of my bikes on my profile

  • im 17 only 17 and gettin ma first welder soon i want to build my own bobber and want to know what to start off with wat frame and motor fits best for a beginer

  • One of the best and worst things for Harley aftermarket stuff is that there are thousands of things to choose from. If this is your first bike look into a "bike in a box" kit from a reputable company.

If you really want to build a bike from parts I would stick with a stock 80 inch evolution engine from Harley Davidson and look into a frame from a reputable company that has been around for a while. Most importantly you need our video.;)

    Have fun,

    Michael Durham

  • thanks for the help wea can i get ur dvd from in australia

  • if you buy parts and bolt them together, your not building anything. Go buy an old harley and cut it up, then your really building somethng.

  • You're making a battle of semantics. I would better describe what you keep describing vaguely yet selectively as "building" with words like Fabriactor, Designer, Constructor, etc. If he's putting something together of different parts made my different mfgs for different setups well then thats building in my book.

  • then you dont build much

  • No I don't but I've Designed alot and Fabricated some.

  • then you should know the differnce!
