Are you tuned a half-step sharp? I never tried to figure this out before but play it a half-step down and dropped to a low D. Actually sounds pretty good. Change attack of the plectrum and you can pull off an orchestra full of violins pretty well. Thanks for the work and the post!!!

Shanking you're hand doesn't make a wah noise and neither does pulling up or down (bending) on the strings. They are just tiny changes in pitch called vibrato. Make the music sound fuller in my opinion.
