You guys are forgetting, there are 3 people from the original movie...don't forget Charles Gray, he was 'The Criminologist-an Expert' in the movie. He was the one who did the narration.
Very strange movie, even in comparison to Rocky Horror. I think it never had a chance because a) the Rocky cult was too strong and b) it didn't have Tim Curry. But it clearly is cynical in a dark way that RHPS isn't. I think O'Brien was jaded by the RHPS and he wanted to move on, but the fans wouldn't let him.
I can understand why Susan didn't get the half a million she was asking for to reprise her role as Janet in this movie......................she wasn't THAT bankable in 1981...............actually, her movie career was still in its infancy. Maybe it was for the best, since she instead did the excellent Atlantic City (with Burt Lancaster) the same year.
Rocky Horror is my favorite musical and I watched Shock Treatment with no expectations and it was the right thing to do because I absolutely LOVED it! Apart from the names Brad ans Janet, it has nothing to do with 'Rocky' so get it out of your mind before watching it.

This is the 'equal' to RHPS because its just like the further adventures of Brad and Janet. It hasn't got any referance to Riff, Magenta, Rocky or any other people from RHPS except Brad and Janet. Although some people say that Cosmo and Nation are Riff and Genta in disguise.

@THERiffRandell I agree. I love shock treatment and think it's amazing but the script for ROTOQ looks much better, and your right about magenta, shes my second fave after Riffy lol :)

If they were to make Revenge of the Red Queen I would be so thrilled! But it wouldn't really fit in with these two; they're filmed differently because of the era they were filmed in. I think if they tried, they'd use too much animation rather than real characters and such today. But at least you can read the script online.

It's actually fantastic film. Songs are catchy as hell, the story is weird (in a good way), acting is solid and the visuals are so beautiful. That's just my opinion of course, but I honestly love this film.

Rocky Horror should never have a sequel. The original was brilliant enough. And even though this movie looks cute, it's not the same as Rocky Horror. You can not replace the original Janet and Brad.
@TheTeeShirtShow This isn't necessarily a "sequel" to Rocky Horror. At least, you don't have to look at it that way. The two storylines are completely unrelated, and if you wish, you can imagine that the new couple isn't Brad and Janet at all, but some other couple. This is a very good film, as long as you're not expecting it to be anywhere similar to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Richard O' Brien should have just taken out the names brad and janet, and placed them in a different town and this movie probably would have been fine on it's own. The whole idea of Brad and Janet having the whole movie to them selves and taking out the other main characters doesn't make it seem like a sequel. It's also upsetting that Brad and Janet aren't even the same actors from the original. ;l
I was so disappointed in this film! I'm a massive fan of the RHPS and coundn't wait to see this but it was a massive let down. The songs aren't as catchy and the actors playing Brad and Janet are really miscast. The best part of this film is the song Shock Treatment and thats shown in the trailer!
this movie was the result if several rewrites and a rushed effort.. I hated it when it came out in the theaters and expected more. Rocky started on a stage and developed. this was thrown together. The music was awful and for it's time inthe 80's it was boring and flat.
They couldn't get Susan Sarandon because she wanted too much money for the project. Barry Bostwick couldn't return because he was busy working on another project. Fun fact: Cliff DeYoung, who played Brad in ST, was the first choice for Brad in RHPS, but was busy on another project at the time.

@ThomasMFilms I think if they try to remake it, they hould use the same storyline and use most of the original characters. But the originals will always be best.
It isn't very much like Rocky Horror, but it is another work of Richard O'Brien's. Most people go into it expecting a sequel to RHPS and end up disappointed that it is not that, so keep in mind it is not a sequel (despite Brad and Janet being recurring characters.)
That being said, you shouldn't be disappointed if you watch it. It's certainly a better movie than many things out there, IMO. I'd suggest rent or download first, not everyone loves it.
As a RH fan, I was quite disappointed in ST as I was expecting a sequel. When you watch it again and look at it as a film in its own right rather than a sequel, you realise it's pretty damn good.
Besides, I'm not sure I'd want a proper sequel. I dont see how it could happen anyway! Magenta and Riff went back to Transylvania and everyone else was dead!
I was just wondering the same thing. Wiki calls it a "follow up" which I guess means it's a creative follow up to a previous work and not a second part of a story. I guess...
Alot of the original cast return as different charecters. THe orignal premise for the movie is far different than what was actually shot. Initially it was supposed to be a sequel to Rocky horror, taking place immediately after the original, then for whatever reason the story sway in a new direction focusing on the marital problems of Brad and Janet and the community of Denton which has been absorbed into commericalism by Brads twin brother. Go figure.

Rocky Horror should never have a sequel. The original was brilliant enough. And even though this movie looks cute, it's not the same as Rocky Horror. You can not replace the original Janet and Brad.

@TheTeeShirtShow This isn't necessarily a "sequel" to Rocky Horror. At least, you don't have to look at it that way. The two storylines are completely unrelated, and if you wish, you can imagine that the new couple isn't Brad and Janet at all, but some other couple. This is a very good film, as long as you're not expecting it to be anywhere similar to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Richard O' Brien should have just taken out the names brad and janet, and placed them in a different town and this movie probably would have been fine on it's own. The whole idea of Brad and Janet having the whole movie to them selves and taking out the other main characters doesn't make it seem like a sequel. It's also upsetting that Brad and Janet aren't even the same actors from the original. ;l

I was so disappointed in this film! I'm a massive fan of the RHPS and coundn't wait to see this but it was a massive let down. The songs aren't as catchy and the actors playing Brad and Janet are really miscast. The best part of this film is the song Shock Treatment and thats shown in the trailer!

this movie was the result if several rewrites and a rushed effort.. I hated it when it came out in the theaters and expected more. Rocky started on a stage and developed. this was thrown together. The music was awful and for it's time inthe 80's it was boring and flat.

They couldn't get Susan Sarandon because she wanted too much money for the project. Barry Bostwick couldn't return because he was busy working on another project. Fun fact: Cliff DeYoung, who played Brad in ST, was the first choice for Brad in RHPS, but was busy on another project at the time.
Both RHPS and ST are awesome in their own ways.

It's not a sequel to Rocky Horror. The real sequel is Revenge of the Old Queen , but it's probaly not gonna be filmed.
Shock Treatment is another story in the saga of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss.
The only reason it's called a sequel to Rocky Horror is because whoever was responisble thought it could pull in a bigger audience.
It's actually not that bad , sure its in NO FUCKING WAY as fun and good as rocky horror , but it doesnt need to be.
(people will allways prefer Rocky Horror , duh)

It isn't very much like Rocky Horror, but it is another work of Richard O'Brien's. Most people go into it expecting a sequel to RHPS and end up disappointed that it is not that, so keep in mind it is not a sequel (despite Brad and Janet being recurring characters.)
That being said, you shouldn't be disappointed if you watch it. It's certainly a better movie than many things out there, IMO. I'd suggest rent or download first, not everyone loves it.

As a RH fan, I was quite disappointed in ST as I was expecting a sequel. When you watch it again and look at it as a film in its own right rather than a sequel, you realise it's pretty damn good.
Besides, I'm not sure I'd want a proper sequel. I dont see how it could happen anyway! Magenta and Riff went back to Transylvania and everyone else was dead!

Alot of the original cast return as different charecters. THe orignal premise for the movie is far different than what was actually shot. Initially it was supposed to be a sequel to Rocky horror, taking place immediately after the original, then for whatever reason the story sway in a new direction focusing on the marital problems of Brad and Janet and the community of Denton which has been absorbed into commericalism by Brads twin brother. Go figure.

A handful of the Rocky players are in shocktreatment. All portaying new characters.
It's a fun film with some great songs but the pacing is a bit slow towards the middle. Imo a song or two should have been cut to spead up the story.
