I will post a video here soon. My book has just been made available at Books a Million. The title is "Chili Pimping in Atlantic City". This is my story. A story about the third dirtiest Cop in the history of N.Y.C. and how I'm trying to right my wrongs. Please give it a try. Thank you.
It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. They made a movie out of it like two years ago but DONT be thrown off by it. It is actually a very good book and very realistic about teens and depression. Also If I Stay is a good quick read, although it's more of a girl book.. maybe Brittany will like it?
Good Omens! Everyone likes books by formulaic writers, like Nora Roberts, and I fucking hate formulaic writing. I like Good Omens because there is no love interest. I also hate books with a love interest. I want murder, suicide, genocide, ANYTHING, just not love interests!
(sorry, hand slipped. stupid touch) anyway, You NEED to read His Dark Materials (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amver Spyglass) by Phillip Pullman. Storyplot is AMAZING. The ideas are so original and complicated.
Stay away from commercial modern fiction !! And by "commercial" I mean nonliterary books such as New York Times Bester fiction.AKA- John Grisham, Tom Clancey, Danielle Steele, Clive Cussler, Nora Roberts, Robert Jordan Dean Kootnz etc If you are going to read modern books, then stick with nonfiction. In fact as far as great books go ( those that have the highest aim which is to educate you , but are also entertaining) start with Juvenal's "Satires" , then John Wilmot, Schopenhauer etc.
"Everything Matters" or "God is Dead" by Ron Currie Jr, or "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers, or "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett :)
Kyle please read this because i read some of it and couldn't get it :( well if you like (or know) My chemical romance, The lead singer, Gerard Way, Wrote/drew for a comic and i love it (the most i have read anyway) Its called "The Umbrella Academy" Right now there are only 2 books in the series (i read like 1 half of the first 1) I know its at books a million, Thats were i read it, Its a book you half to look for, They will probably only have one copy of each book, maybe.. Its awesome though
@MissMaddy881 You're wrong... Also, Jonbenet was killed by a blast of wind from Howard Stern's asshole, just not before her dad fucked her in the ass.
@scottspeaksfuckinsux no, you're wrong about both things, especially the part about jonbenet's dad. anyway, people aren't talking about her here so leave her out of this. also, ruined sounds great. i looked it up on the books a million site yesterday and as soon as i see it in the store, i'm buying it!
@MissMaddy881 Oh yeah? If I'm wrong about John Ramsey, how do you think he knew to put the exact amount of his $118K bonus as the amount on the ransom note?
@scottspeaksfuckinsux john's office building had this security guard and he was really obsessed with jonbenet. he would go to her pageants, pretend he was her dad, and videotape her. he knew how much john made so that's why he put that much money in the note. the note was written to throw off the investigation. i'm not sure how jonbenet is thought to be sexually abused unless that guy did something to her. i seriously hope not, though!
@MissMaddy881 Yeah, well, the evidence points to frequent sexual abuse over a prolonged period of time. Who do you think would have had the access and the ability to do that if it wasn't John?
@MissMaddy881 Also, from the Jonbenet case encyclopedia at pbworks (dot) com: "Forensic pathologist Robert Kirschner also said that the injuries to JonBenet were consistent with long-term sexual abuse."
I really like the Percy Jackson series. I don't know if it'd be your cup of tea, but I'm reading it right now, and if you haven't heard of it from the movie, it's about this boy, who finds out he is the son of a Greek god, and he has to go to this camp, and go on these missions where they fight demons and monsters and such. I'm on the fourth book right now, and I really love it. I don't know, but maybe give it a chance? The first book is Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
"I Know This Much Is True" by Willy Lamb and "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey they're well written and interesting. Even though Frey is kinda douchey.
Try the Pact by Judy Picoult. It's a good book, um, were reading it in class and my teacher wont keep a book if the class doesn't like it. Mostly everyone in my class likes it, there's like one boy who doesn't haha. and this book Slam..it's by David something I think. It's pretty good (:
It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. there are so many fantastic quotes in that book. i've even talked to the author on his personal forum website just to tell him what an impact his book had on my life. please read it (: it's really great
you should try The Vampire Tapestry by Suzy Mckee Charnas, its not like any other vampire story its very sophisticated and theres no real fluff, no sparkles either
also being a Steinbeck fan(reading grapes of wrath right now) the winter of our discontent is excellent, alot of detail and hidden meaning. another classic, Carrie by Steven King, did u know that was his first novel?
and finally, idk if you really want to, i am a writer, and ill let u read a short story or two if u like
Are you there vodka, it's me chelsea? by chelsea handler. it's amazing the only book to ever make me laugh out loud. it's just outrageous what has happened to her.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy seriously greatest book ever written!! You are guaranteed to love it everyone i know that read it loved it. It is kinda dark but it is amazing
Unwind! I just read it and I don't know if your into that kind of stuff,? But it's about... Well it's kinda hard to explain. I liked it alot though . Soooo If your interested in a good book aproved by me:D lol. This is the one
Kyle...you have to read "A Clockwork Orange"...it is like an orgasm for your mind. There is nothing more I can do to express how amazing this book is other than give you a quote from it: "Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!"
i love this book. (by john green) idk if u have read it before but it is amazing. (not only cuz its by john green) but it is a well im not really sure wat it would be considered but its amazing
Red Dwarf. Theres was a tv show based of the book. The tv show only lasted 8 seasons. It was British sitcom. It was so funny. Just like the book I forgot who created the book but I'm pretty it's the same guy who created the tv show. So, go out and read it! :)
you should read the immortal series there really good! the first one is called evermore i only said that because it took me forever to figure out which one was first lol n_n
I'm not sure of you'll like it, but you should read the house of night books by pc cast and kristin cast. The first book is called marked. Its a vampire book, but I promise its cooler than twilight lol.
and if you're not into that, then anything by H.P. Lovecraft. Also the king in yellow, also anything by Nietzsche, if you haven't already, probably Thus Spake Zarathustra. Oh and house of leaves.
After you're done with all that, it should probably be sometime next year xD
not that you'll get this, cause it's in a mass of around a thousand of coments but i'd highly reccommend 'the virgin suicides' by Jeffrey Eugenides...
i honestly cannot explain why i loved it so much, it was just ingeniously written, witty but amazing :]
THE HUNGER GAMES!!! AND CATCHING FIRE AND MOCKINGJAY!!! BY SUZANNE COLLINS!!! THEY ARE GREAT!! ;)

Godel Escher Bach
and if you're not into that, then anything by H.P.
