Please fix your description. This is not correct. He was not tackled and it is widely believed (most historians have reached consensus) that those who led him away were not police. Could he have been arrested later? Maybe. But at this time he was NOT tackled, hit, assaulted, or arrested. He may very well still be alive at this time.

I take it you don't know the story behind this act. The night of June 3rd, the Chinese army massacred it's own people. Massacred. Do you have any idea how brave it is to witness a massacre and still stand up to the ones that did it? You don't, plain and simple. I don't and I'm sure most of the world wouldn't do what he did. And no. His actions would have been told by word of mouth even if no one got it on video. He has become a symbol.

the American Civil war was NOT originally intended on freeing blacks but rather to preserrve the union..only in the latter years when it was obvious that slavery needed to end did President Lincoln do anything about it.

he was run over by the tank, the video of him being run over had been on tv hundreds of times. That man is a legend. And over 10,000 people were attacked during that protest. 2500 dead 7500 injured. The officer in the tank was not arrested charged or disciplined, he may have been disciplined for hesitating. That is communism for you. Speak up and die.

There is a slightly longer video out there of this incident. I believe it shows the man getting on the tank? I do know that he was tackled by soldiers, and that he was never heard from again.

@ Wambamedia - He wasn't tackled by police. After he got off the tank, he blocked the tank two more times, then people on the sidelines of this event came forward and took him away (gently i may add) into the crowd and Tank Man's fate is to this day unknown and unconfirmed.

No he wasn't run over. The tank convoy turned around. The Officer in charge of that tank was imprisoned.
