  • You Rock Shelley hun 'An Atheist Album" was well overdue and its by a wonderful singer. xxx Come on Fellow Atheists, lets get this great girl known all over the planet, I must have dropped this link in over 20 sites tonight, they loved it.

  • Mirror mirror on the unknown wall so far the athiest and christons both told me to get the hell out . Thank fore your weakness.

  • A group of Atheists once dismissed me basically just because I used the word BULLSHIT in a couple videos on YT ...

My favorite word just got sexy ...

  • Love it! One of my fave lines "You think it's any of your business what goes on between my thighs", good one.

  • Great Voice! Great tunes! CD purchased from Itunes... Thanks...

  • When I get my tax return back [literally broke looking for work] I intend to buy your album. I love this song. Haven't even heard the other songs but I am in and I rarely spend money on music because just like JoJerome I am usually broke. Love the music.

PS: Anyway you can get this put on spotify I would like to play it on there and share it with others and suggest purchasing it.

  • @MissKittyBombshell Then you are less stupid than a lot of other Christian but still have a bit of stupid left here and there. Don't worry, we all do.

  • Excellent!

  • why isnt this number 1 oh because most humans are sleepdancing to quasi-religious crap like katy simpson and jessica perry

  • poopsies, forgot to like the last 30 times I watched this. Well, live and learn.

  • Instant fan! Subbed, "liked" FB page, and ordered CD. I wish you were performing at Reason Rally in DC.

  • @wWSwiftyWw she is!

  • @leftocastpunx83: I didn't understand what you meant by this reply. I had forgot exactly what I had posted. I just now saw her listed on the Reason Rally website. I am so fracking pumped! I can't wait! "I am standing hear beside myself".

  • So beautifully done.

  • good work, but needs more cowbell

  • A FAN NOW! :)

  • Love it :D

  • Great Stuff, Shelly! I just purchased your album on iTunes. GREAT GREAT STUFF!

  • This is fantastic!!! Keep this up, Shelley!

  • Aurgh! you're/your

  • ... (oops, hit send too early) book about it if you're genuinely interested; c) yeah, why do you care? Anyway, back to the nice song.

  • @buzzmusicmedia: a) scientific theories are never proven, so asking for proof just shows you're own lack of understanding; b) there are mountains of evidence for evolution - read a good

  • @18hongo: you are no better than those you spread accusations against. Where is your proof of evolution? Carbon dating? Even atheist scientists are now apprehensive about using that flawed notion in attempting to discuss dating of fossilized matter using a method that cannot be accurately measured. And that is the best method in "proving" evolution? So far, historical evidence is backed up by such methods as carbon dating better than is evolution because the science used shows only a few thousa

  • @buzzmusicmedia Why do you care? Evolution doesn't prove that 'God' doesn't exist.

  • @buzzmusicmedia What you seem to be saying is: we know no better, so why not believe in god? This is an insular and ignorant view - the idea that a group of desert dwelling goat herders who lived in tents knew more about the universe than modern scientists is very backward. And carbon dating is flawed, but you are hyperbolising those flaws to a ludicrous extent. The fact that we don't know something does not prove that god exists - it only proves we still have to learn about it.

  • @buzzmusicmedia , besides Carbon Dating, there is : u-th/he measurements, Early Uranium Dating, Zircon Fission tracks, Tephra hydration dating.. and there's a number of other precision Dating methods. But you Religious Folks only know about Carbon dating (bet you don't even know there a couple of Carbon dating methods, not just C-14). and all these methods are used to cross reference the dates.. stop being ignorant, it's annoying..

  • @buzzmusicmedia "What will it take for you to start opening your eyes?"

I can tell you what it would take for me to accept your story: compelling evidence it could be true. Something of which there is a dearth (as in, nothing at all). Now what will it take for you to take the position that there probably is no god?

  • @Turgor Death is wonderfull it gives new beginings to the young,my children are all a part of me,and I am a part of the many hundreds of people that have lived in the past.(That) I am happy with..

  • @Markart50 Your numbers are off by several orders of magnitude. There have been 10s of billions of people that lived in the past. And some of them are in some way part of you -either because you actually have some of the atoms that were in their bodies in yours now, or because they did/wrote something in the past that still has an influence on you now- but you can never have been part of them because you didn't exist back then. But if you're happy with sloppy thinking, I guess ignorance is bliss

  • @Turgor -----It is a fact that more people are alive today than have ever lived in the past,I was only giving and (example) OK.

  • @Markart50 That's another fact that you got wrong. Somewhere between 12 and 110 billion people have died since about 50,000 years ago, and most demographers agree it's probably closest to 60 billion.

  • @Turgor Love your sums there just good fun you do know it all, well done top of the class (point)!!!!! being.

  • So, where is this so called evidence that evolution is proven? Those that have consistently shown scientific evidence that evolutionary theory has flaws are always called names and never EVER shown to be incorrect. Evolution is fiction.

  • @buzzmusicmedia We have a theory - you don't. So far evolution wins - many of the "missing links" in evolution have been discovered, while those like you, who simply point out the flaws in our theory while never stating your own, claim that this is some sort of victory.

  • @buzzmusicmedia

    and so is your bible.

  • @buzzmusicmedia "Evolution is fiction." Congratulations, you are a complete moron, well done! Now go crawl under your rock and be gone....

  • I just got linked to this less then a hour ago and posted it to about 30 different places and listened to the song at least 4 times. Looooove it ;b.

  • Beautiful song, absolutely _loved_ it. It was the first thing I heard after I woke up today, after a night spent tossing and turning in bed thinking about friends and family who are no longer with me. Brought a tear to my eye. :')

This is the first Atheist-themed song I've heard, and it was awesome; and your 'Apocalyptic Love Song' was just as great; so I tried to purchase your whole album on iTunes but it seems like it's only available in Australia. Please make it available to everyone!

  • Love it.

  • I love this song so much, While I was listening to it I was like "Omgsh, When is she coming out with an album. Cause I'm buying it." Thank Mythical Creature there was a description.

  • i asked something to the FSM on facebook and guess what? he answered! in english! if your god can't do it, i'm not impressed. And if a religion happens to be true, the people in hell are far more interesting.

  • LOVE it!

  • Reminds me of the hit song "Christian Side Hug" :D

Go on Shelley.. waiting for more

  • I WOULD LIKE EVERY RELIGIOUS PERSON TO WATH THIS /watch?v=d0A4_bwCaX0 before commenting about their religion. Please thumbs up so people see.

  • 2+ years underemployed, victim of the US economy and workplace discrimination.

Quasi-disabled with no real benefits here in the US.

Horribly broke with almost no income.

    Off-and-on homeless.

Just bought your CD on Amazon.

I know when something is worth my oh-so-hard-to-come-by pennies.

    Rock on Shelley!

  • @MissKittyBombshell

That seems awfully strange to me. Other people who would consider themselves Christians tend to believe more of the stuff in the Bible than you do, and that's what they'd be judging you based on, so you're still calling yourself a bad believer in god based on Biblical morality.

What's odd about this is if you don't believe the Bible, there's no more reason to do this than to base your godliness on the Koran or any other monotheistic text....

  • @MissKittyBombshell Well i know it's hard for a christian to understand responsibility and that actions have consequences since jesus is forgiving all your sins but in the real world you get what you deserve.

  • She's not not just another pretty face with a great voice. Finally music that's actually about something!

  • awesome song !

  • This is wonderful. Shelley, you have an amazing voice, and an amazing mind to go with it. It is so refreshing to hear an outspoken atheist song! If I had any sort of singing voice, I would be right there alongside you, girl!! <3

  • Thank you /r/atheism!

  • Thumbs up for a nice song and a beautiful voice.

  • I thought Justice had this.

  • @mtngeorge

see, that statement suggests that the existence of god is equally probably as the nonexistence of god when this is not true. There is scientific evidence for evolution, abiogenesis, etc etc, when religious individuals cite an ancient book as their evidence. There's no faith involved here, just reasoning.

  • @mtngeorge Nope. Faith isn't even a part of the equation. Just cold, hard, evidence.

  • @mtngeorge "they have faith that there is no god" I wish you could see what a moron you are, but that is not how nature works, ignorance is bliss! Enjoy your ignorance, there are far better humans than you to carry the burden of truth.

  • @mtngeorge you are suche a retard lol and dumb!

  • @mtngeorge wait what? you cant state you understand what atheists "believe" when you aren't us& have no idea! we dont have "faith" that there's no god, and since we follow no book, creeds, rituals, etc, there is no "religion" to follow. The amount of information that has led us to non belief in a god can't be explained to people like you in brief comments. It would take hours& days, and you even being open to listening, which I assume you wouldn't care to do. If you'd like to become a pen pal...

  • @mtngeorge Shut up and get the hell out of here. You clearly have nothing constructive to say so why don't you take your crap else where?!

you don't see me on Christian music videos trolling!

  • the pyrmids were built 4000 years ago. to build something like that with our technology it will challange our equipment. an aircraft carrier would be easier to build than those pyrmids. my point is if the pyrmids got destroyed let say 2000 years ago. people would not believe it . It woyld be too far fetched fore something like that to be built with stone age technology.

  • Comment removed

  • @mtngeorge except today we have unions etc, back then they had a lot of workers about 30,000 labourers, also watch /watch?v=pCvx5gSnfW4

  • @mtngeorge "too far fetched fore something like that to be built with stone age technology." They had tens of thousands of workers, and put stones on top of other stones in the most efficient shape devisable for their level of technology. Impressive but hardly too far fetched. However if someone claimed such a building existed without a shred of proof then being sceptical is logical. As far as challenging our equipment, PLEASE. far more impressive structures are build nowadays.

  • Beautiful voice D:

  • @MissKittyBombshell

That's exactly my point. You said "I'm probably the worst believer in God ever.". On what basis were you making that assertion, if not the moral framework of the Bible? If you don't believe it, why judge yourself against it? If you aren't making that assertion based on the morality of the Bible, what are you basing it on?

  • Love IT! XXXOOO LOVE YOU! I will be buying this CD, And Plastering this video all over FaceBook.

  • @MissKittyBombshell You may want to consider that it isn't actually god that she is calling bullshit: the removal of women's rights, the persecution of minorities, the abuse of power, and the frankly backwards ideas of many religious (she doesn't specifically mention christians, but believe me, you're in there) powers - Rick Perry and Rick Santorum spring instantly to mind - that IS bullshit. And people swallow it like a spoonful of sugar.

  • For real this song rocks. Cheeky attitude that drives the message home nice and heavy.

  • Love it!

  • She never says "God is bullshit". Rather, she says "What will it take for you...[t]o start questioning the bullshit everyone around you buys?"

That question can, and even by the tone of the song does, have a much broader application than just belief in a god-being.

  • @MissKittyBombshell

So, basically what you're saying is that you don't believe a lot of the stuff the Bible says, and yet still judge yourself based on its moral framework?

    ...why?

  • Thank you much. It's a great time to be alive.

  • @MissKittyBombshell - "why can't people just learn to live and let live?"

Because the religious won't let us. If you wish to believe as you do and leave the rest of us in peace, that's one thing. However, the larger portion of the religious population isn't interested in that. The message that is being sent loud and clear by these people is: "It's not enough that we live according to our god's rules, but *you* must live by them too, whether you believe in our god or not."

  • @MissKittyBombshell Because Christians don't shut their mouths. Singers sing about their faith in god - this is an atheist singing against all the persecution, hatred and ignorance that streams from christianity.

  • @MissKittyBombshell some hundred years ago she would have been killed for this song. thats why

  • Have an upvote.

  • Hi reddit!

  • @harrywhoslaughters Greetings!

  • She could be Rebecca Black's sister... Obviously she wasn't dropped on her head like Rebecca

  • I'm buying your album

  • I love this song. All that bullshit that people believe these days, and they think the have the right to take rights away from other people (like gays) in the name of 'god'.

  • Cool song, not hot enuf for 5 min of mega exteme mouth close-ups

  • She's no Tim Minchin, but it's ok.

  • new favorite song :D

  • I love it! Keep up the good work! I'll get you too 200.000 views soon.

  • Just amazing !

  • Beautiful!

  • The voice, the lyrics...

    It's all good!

  • I was a little skeptical at first when I saw this, but this is really good. Favorited.

About time we get songs like this in other genres as well, because like someone pointed out, the thought behind those lyrics is found in a huge amount of metal songs as well. ;)

  • dunno where to start!?

I thought I knew poetry; in sound and motion

    then this vid! wow

and the soundtrack surely makes so many liars go

"hey who's that sounds nice and groovy.."

then they hear the lyrics and get all bigoted...

indeed best song of 2012; something edgy! hats off

    great artist!

  • This is awesome and you have beautiful eyes ;) . I am gonna cover this for sure :) And you have also inspired me to write my own atheist song . :D!

  • This is really good!! I was also expecting some amateur crap, but this is really cool and professional. Does she have an album, Are there more artist like her?

  • @etiennec She has an album, on itunes I believe.

  • Wow! I was honestly expecting a crap song that everyone's fawning over just because it's atheist-themed. How wrong I was!

Not just saying this: I'm a classic rock fan who loathes 95% of music today as unoriginal, uninspired, and all sounding the same. This however is pretty damn good. Great tune, great meter, nicely woven lyrics. Theme of the lyrics being just a nice bonus.

Looking forward to seeing you go far! If a web designer/photographer/graphic designer can be of any help, let me know!

  • When your album is for sale, I will DEFINITELY buy it!!! Excellent song and message! :)

  • You made me cry happy tears. :'D I just wonder how I can buy this album, because I live in Finland and I don't trust non-Finnish online stores to deliver my stuff intact... :-/

  • I love this. It's a song that gets an atheist feel without a lot of anger or roughness that you usually get from atheism songs from the rock genre and similar things. Plus, she's gorgeous. Seriously gorgeous.

  • Good for you! Props!!

  • love it! XD

  • Wow an Australian :D Great work, wonderful voice and great lyrics. I will be keeping an eye on your music for now on. :)

  • Excellent !!

  • I just wanted all commenters of this video to know that it was my pleasure to have Shelley Segal on the OpenAirAtheistPodCast. She is truly a beautiful and talented human being, with great passion and potential. A very easy person to talk to, and I can't help but to wish her all the best in life. Her and her father gave a truly remarkable permance on the show.

  • Amazing song! You have a great voice.

  • Great song, love it

  • Brilliant. Free Thinkers For Peace and Justice!

  • 16,999 views. Woo hoo!

  • I love this! Amazing voice, great message., Where/when can I buy your albums?

  • Yay!!!!

  • All I can say is... THANK YOU! Beautiful voice, beautiful message...It brings tears to my eyes!

  • This video needs a love button. Not only do I like the content of the song but it fits right in with my audio aesthetic. Thanks for making this gem.

  • Awesome song! Awesome video! When is your album coming out!! Please include full lyrics to every song in the album print material or otherwise make it available for easy download. God b.Less!

  • This is fantastic! Instant fan here.

  • Such a very, very long time coming. Thank you. So much.

  • This is a beautiful song! And it has a valuable message :)

  • Preach it girl! xD awesome voice!

  • Awesome song, great voice! Great job, girly.

  • Nice, she nails it! Great lyrics.

  • Gods Below!

Great voice, great music, great lyrics!

  • Too dull and preachy for me, like reverse Christian rock.

  • @ral1334

My thoughts exactly, just as wretched as most Christian rock I have heard

  • @ral1334 seems like it but... its still musically good i think. and technically, its not that preachy as it doesn't say that her point of view is valid but instead just asks about the validity of another position. Its not saying to stop believing X and star Y but instead says to question why you believe X and then see where this inquiery leads.

  • This is good and you have a great voice. Proud that we share the same mind set:)

  • Wow, it's so beautifully done! Thank you young person! I'm a fan!!!

  • Utterly delightful, amazing and compelling voice!

  • Just found this today through a link from Darrell Ray on FB. You have an amazing talent and something to say that needs to be said. I live in ORU land where teens and young adults are congratulated not for their ability to reason, but their acceptance of religion, their level of emotional passion during a worship service, and of course, their ability to convince adults that they've repressed their sexuality in favor of "following God"... at least until they meet "the One". Great work, girl!

  • Simply wonderful. What a voice! What talent!

  • Love it! :D

  • This is the song we'll sing in Atheist church next Sunday.

  • Loved it! I want more!

  • so subscribing

  • Awesome!

  • I'm a Pakistani Atheist woman. And I absolutely love this! I was waiting for an artist to come up with something like this.

  • Love it :-)

  • This is so great. There are so many songs about faith and Jesus and love... Finally -- a song about what bullshit religion is. Very well written, sung, and the video too is great to watch. Thank you.

  • Fuck yeah London.

    Awesome song.

  • Really good. Thanks.

  • Right on sister! Thanks for the video, lyrics and taking the time to help spread some sense.

    Peace

    Spoony

  • Fantastic, and it doesn't hurt that you are beautiful and very talented. Subscribed!

  • I think it should become the theme song of the Atheist Experience.

  • @Campineiroamericano It has my vote. Just last night I was thinking how tired I am of the AE's current song.

  • @pythor2 To examine life means that everything is considered. It seems to me that all too often atheists ignore the blatant problems with their line of thinking. For instance, doesn't it seem more unbelievable that the Earth ended up just far enough from the sun to not be too hot yet close enough to have liquid water? Also, the Earth had all of the materials with it through this cosmic accident that it could create and sustain life. Apparently, symmetry, thinking, and love occur naturally too.

  • @SocialMisfit1979 That's the great things having billions of galaxies with billions of stars with billions on billions of planets. Odds are some will have the right conditions... but I'm sure to you it makes more sense that... some divine being created all this to sacrifice him self to himself to ride us of sin he bestowed on us... Ya your "theory" sounds much better

  • @SocialMisfit1979

have you ever question your faith? if not, that's dead faith.

  • @SocialMisfit1979 Nope. Not really. The only reason it seems that way is likely because that happenstance resulted in life. If life had occurred on some other planet, either further from, or closer to the Sun, we would likely view that planet as being within the "Goldie Locks" zone. Just hot enough that water is turned to vaporous gas, but not so hot that it dissipates from the atmosphere altogether. to be continued...

  • @SocialMisfit1979 Or just far enough from the Sun that water is frozen, but not so deep the suns rays can't penetrate and light the depths which remain liquid due to geo-thermal activity. Scientists are discovering life in some of the most unexpected places. Get your head out of the fairy-tale books long enough to read some scientific data, and you won't have these debates.

  • @SocialMisfit1979 That's one of the most common fails in christian logic. Earth doesn't rotate in a perfect axis around the sun: kidport.com/reflib/science/Space/images/Rotation.gif and the sun is not just some perfect circle staying completely still, its basically like a big ball of burning fire (thats the simple explanation), shooting out flames at random distances.

  • @bobby I'm not sure you writing your own moral code makes your disbelief in God or a god/gods credible. Also, where this song's lyrics are considered,it is quite hypocritcal that one who believes as you do should take offense at others writing their moral code and expressing what their moral code is. I think too often God is seen as some celestial rule-maker. The "rules" associated with Christianity are meant to save God's people from the hurt and emptiness of this world;it's out of love only.
