In fact those who give money for candidates,promote them. Also,owners of media companies will support only those politicians who represent their interests. Average ppl are only voting machines,who chose(in USA even not directly)between candidates who are chosem before by media and donators. I would say it's a donator&media-cracy, not a democracy.
