Just for the record, it's not completely waterproof. My husband was driving in the car behind me, spun on the highway and spilled a cooler of water all over. Thankfully, he was ok, but he couldn't call me to tell me until several agonizing seconds later by using voice command (couldn't access screen). The phone has recovered, so the damage was only temporary. Still, though....not totally waterproof.

Same reasons apply for phones & earphones to be waterproof.

Phone costs $600, case costs $70, water covers 2/3 of the earth and falls from the sky, there is a math equation in there somewhere that says the odds are against you & your phone.

OtterBox case has better drop protection than any other.
