Being against interracial marriage is bad because you're keeping a white and black person from being together. However, if you are for interracial marriage, blacks and whites can get together, as well as blacks and blacks, as well as white and whites.

Being against gay marriage is keeping men from each other and women from each other. However, if you are for gay marriage, men can get together, women can get together, and men and women get together.

So isn't it the exact same thing then?

Bans on interracial marriage were about separating and keeping the races apart and based on the Brown v. Board decision, segregation of classes of people is another form of discrimination. When we lifted up the bans, it not only integrated the races but the sexes which is what marriage has always been about: Integration for procreation and rearing of kids. So unless you think integration is another form of discrimination like segregation as well, then its not the same thing.

I don't think this ad had its desired effect, any reasonably educated person can see the difference between the two arguments. One is based on reasonable comparisons and logic, while the other is built on fallacies. 33% of Americans support gay marriage? who was polled, how many? how old is the info? Pastors, clergy, and religious leaders have every right to convey and express their moral vision onto their community and into the voting process. Nelson, The case will show you that the same court in Loving v Virginia not only distinguished same sex marriage from interracial marriage, but established it as a right that does not exist under the constitution and never did. so the 14th amendment does not confer a RIGHT to gay marriage anymore than it does for polygamy
