Nice copyright rant, I agree whole completely. One of the videos that I put up that was blocked in some countries for copyright was "Hokum Blues" by Coley Jones. The guy doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry. I feel like I am trying to do them a favor by helping to promote an obscure artist and they refuse. They are content to try and hide this old material so they can focus on new releases. Meanwhile they fight like hell to make sure nothing ever enters the public domain ever again.
Tommy! This is SUCH a good song, and until I stumbled upon your video, I couldn't find it anywhere. I used to do this song in a band long ago (I'm a keyboardist / vocalist). I agree w/you—I don't want to 'rip it off' or sell it to others or claim that it's mine. Airwaves used to be free. Now don't get me wrong, people in my family were, or are presently, professional composers, and they should get royalties. (I still can't understand how folks get away w/sampling, unless they're paying for it.)
Tell the Copyright holders to kiss a tree or something. I don't download this music for personal use. It's just nice to be able to hear things that you cannot always find in the record store, nor just about anywhere else! Have they never heard of fair use in the Copyright laws? Thank you for posting.
Thank you for the great music. Every time I hear this song, I want to dance. This may be Chicago Blues, but it is a standard at every club in Myrtle Beach and a West Coast Swing staple. Thank you so much.
I actually heard her perform this, having been involved with the Chicago blues scene for a time. She had the most amazing blues voice I have ever heard, before or since!
I remember sneakin' in to the Silver Moon on the South side when this played. I didn't get far inside but everyone was just sitting there. They needed to get up and put they black draws on.
Thanks so much for this posting. Big Eddie was a very close friend and Lil'Eddie is very special in my life. The Professor inspired me and continues to this day.Although he did not write it, this tune by fabulous Miss Gloria Hardiman, gives us warm memories and rememberences of how the Blues is supposed to sound like! RIP Eddie, thank you for all you taught me about music, the Holy Spirit, and life!
Thanks for putting this up! I used to go listen to Professor's Blues Review with Gloria Hardiman (and later Karen Carroll) every weekend for years in Chicago. That was one rockin' live band. This song sound good here but when they played it live, they blew the roof off! Gloria's voice was so powerful and clear. Professor played a mean keyboard and had so much charisma. Kudos to Gloria and the late, great Professor Eddie Lusk!
Thanks so much for posting this! I hope it can stay up! I used to listen to Professor's Blues Review with Gloria Hardiman every weekend in Chicago for years and this song is great but it blew the roof off live. That was a great live group and kudos to Gloria and the late Professor!!!
This is good but it pales compared to Jimmy and jeannie Cheatham's version. Wish it were on you tube. Thanks for posting it and I hope it stays. This is history baby
I am so glad you put this song on Youtube. I used to sing this song with my band a while ago. I had the karaoke version, but someone stole it. Thanks for keeping the music going.
I used to play a little honkytonk in Texas. A Jackson made sure that this was the first song the DJ played at the end of our last set. Great windin' down jam.
Thank you so much for postingthis song, my husband and I used to sit by the pool every Sunday afternoon and listen to this song, brings back so manu memories, thanks again..............

This is good but it pales in contrast to the version by Jimmy and Jeannie Cheatham. I wish it were on You Tube too.

For some reason, I think of the old Tally-Ho club in Columbia, SC when I hear this song.

I heard that Ron Hardy used to play this at the Music Box in Chicago because his dad used to play it to him when he was a kid.
