ESP guitars use the better Floyd Rose, so get the ESP.
For effects, I recommend Eventide TimeFactor or PItchFactor. The TimeFactor can do more than just delays and the PItchFactor can do way more than just pitch effects.
not sure which guitar, but with the effects for your sound im guessing is metal and the boss me 70 would be perfect for that. and in terms of is it hard to use or not, it is probably one of the easiest effect boards out there to operate
get the MII, its got a better trem (original instead of licensed floyd), and its just got a better neck, and more frets I believe. Just overall the MII kicks the hell out of an ex401dx. In my mind there is no reason at all why you should get the ex401 instead of an MII, that would just be a mistake. Bottom line, get the MII.
I own a KH2. It is a great guitar. ONLY BUY HIGH QUALITY ORIGINAL FLOYD ROSE. Do Not buy the cheaper guitars with trems. They do not stay in tune. All of them suck.
yea really people who say FUCK LTD GET AN ESP are pretty much just looking at price tags and making there decision based on the more money it costs the better it is. The ltd ex401dx is an amazing guitar, i play one as well as 2 other esp ltd guitars, and there is not 1 damn little tiny thing i would change about that guitar, so dont listen to those ignorant morons u cant go wrong with the 401dx, its a behomoth of metal shreddary
I have the ME70, and its honestly not hard to use at all! it takes you about 20 minutes to get used to it, but after that you can get pretty much whatever sound you want out of it.
you should try out the boss gt-10 ep it has really a wide range of effects and its build like a tank. On the other hand you have the line 6 pod x3 live witch is not bad but i would not recommend it for the esp. Line 6 has more of an "digital" tone whereas boss gives you the real shit, true effects and heavy tone!! What amp are u using currently?
you should try out the boss gt-10 ep it has really a wide range of effects and its build like a tank. Line 6 has more of an "digital" tone whereas boss gives you the real shit, true effects and heavy tone!! What amp are u using currently?
so in my opinion you should go with the esp m-II with the duncans,
the reason i say so is that a Jb/59 duncan set up is WAY more versatile then a set of emgs. but at the same time id have to ask if you know how to use a tremolo bar, because they are rather tricky to use if you are an entry level player.
well fuck the first guitar man ltds are good guitars but i rather buy the real deal. the only diffrence between the emgs and the seymore duncans is that your gonna get more of that high trebel sound out of emgs with more power yet with the duncans your gonna get more balls to your sound soo me i prefer both passive and acticive pickups so thats where seymore duncan blackouts work best for me. but you just gotta look what suits you better and dont worry about the effects and stuff
:p the price tag for a pure ESP is FUCKING RIDICULOUS! LTD's are equal if not better in some cases, so don't get an actual ESP for the namesake unless you have $1k+ to spend and play guitar 5hours+ a day.
Having owned both a bolt-on and a NTB M-II, I can say I noticed very little difference in the guitars. The sustain was as good on the bolt-on and there is hardly any difference in reaching the higher frets. For as often as people use 22-24, its just not worth it.
Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra money on a NTB.
Plus, if anything ever happens to the neck on my bolt-on, I can replace it. Damage a neck on a NTB, and the guitar is useless.
I would get the M-II with the EMG's. IMO EMG's are better and the ESPs are always made better than the LTD's. But the LTD's are still amazing instruments. I have the LTD M100FM and i love it! But I would go for the M-II w/EMG's
Well, since you're looking into ESP guitars, you're in the right direction. Hahaha. As for what to choose, that's up to you. Everyone's going to go both ways. As for the pickups, you should play guitars with both pickups to see what you prefer. As for me. That ESP M-II w/ EMG's looks BADASSSSS!!!!! Hahaha. Anyways, good luck with your decision. Long live metal. Later.
The EX-401 DX is propably not the guitar you wanna buy if you're going to downtune it a lot, of course, it'll propably take something like C or D Standard pretty well, but if you're gonna be playing some serious Death Metal on it and tune it down to Bb or A or something, i wouldn't buy it, a seven-string would be better for that, i think.
The guitar part is a bit to obvious to be honest... First of all, don't get the LTD, it's nowhere near the class of the M-II's. I would buy the M-II with bolt on neck and duncans because it suits my playing better than the one with the neck thru and EMG's, basically because it's way more versatile.
EMG's = Metal.
Seymour Duncan's = Anything.
Effects... Get the Boss, very easy to use. Decent effect Quality. I would recommend the boss GT-10 though or the Pod X3 Live.
@NuclearWawe Don't mean to seem like a troll here but.. ESP LTD EX-401DX, LTD (LIMITED), they are both ESP. I say go for the EX-401DX, I have it and it's beautiful, sounds great and is a bitch when tuning the strings, but totally worth it.
i personally would buy the EX-401DX in a heartbeat. it just fits everything for me perfectly... the body, i'm fine with a set neck, pickups, EVERYTHING on that guitar is good for me. if not the EX, get the second guitar you mentioned, with EMG's. i really like EMG pickups a lot better than any Seymour Duncan pickup... EMG just does good with em. no flaws. EMG pickups will take care of you... they're just the perfect pickups. they play amazingly good clean, too.
Get ESP M-II w/ Duncans, YOU WILL NEVER EVER REGRET IT, because one day you will get tired of playing metal, really, when you play for a great period of time... And the guitar looks great: because when you grow up and you for example play on a friend's wedding or something, just an example, you wont look like a damn monster lol. With it, you can play metal but you can also play other stuff.
Well i already gave u my opinion on the guitars but the effects well boss in general is gonna be alot better of a tone for metal hard rock stuff but boss's also have really awesome nice clean effects i'd recommend any boss pedal but ya the on on here seems complicated but sure could give u any tone u were looking for
I also have a friend that has both the pedals, but he i s currently using Boss ME-70, and he is more or less a gitar expert, so you should go for that one.
hey dude emg and seymour duncans are both good im planning to get the same seymourduncan combo onto my rg370dx since fucking emgs only support 3 way switches
is it because you want a floyd? and if you want the actual ESP brand there is the ex sereis for them but your looking at at least 2 grand. and if you dont like the m 401, take a look at the m 1000 it has a real floyd and it looks so amazing.
You can't compare those two because they're in different classes. There is no EX shape in the M-II's class. Plus there is a huge price jump. The M-401 is in the class as the EX-401 and should have the about the same price. But if you are going to go for the M-II , because it is an ESP, why not compare it to the ESP Horizon FR- II?
If you want to active pick ups, take this EX or M-II with EMG, if you want to passive pick ups, take M-II with S. Duncans. Difference between these guitars is than M-II has got a bit thiner neck, but neck of EX is really fast too. Oh, and this EX is more expensive...
Go for an ESP M-II with duncans, sounds alot better then with EMGs, especially with clean sound. But I recommend that you try all the guitars you are intrested in, this is just my opinion
definally hard i see where ur coming from i have an esp ltd explorer it's the ex-50 not the 400 but i mean they both have floyde rose and stuff but alot of people have a body style like the esp m ll but how many people have explorer's? i know it's an esp and they r better than ltd's but this ltd is very well crafted i've played one on a line 6 spider 15 watt ok and i almost shit my pants same stuff but this ltd is amazing and for effects i'd just recommend trying them both out
ok so i am like the ESP expert cuz i love ESP so here is my opinion. I own an LTD MH-401QM which is pretty much the best LTD they make and likewise the Horizon series is ESP's best standard series model, but if you are deciding between those three then go for the ESP MII. the 401DX is cool, but those guitars are uncomfortable to play unless you are standing up. the MII is much more comfortable and i dont know why you would be willing to get an LTD over an ESP in the first place.
I got a LTD M-53 and a LTD EX-401DX. The EX-401DX is a masterpiece and I love explorers, so yeah. I highly recommend the 401!
