  • What is called americana? isn´t a kimura armlock?

  • detailed looks are awesome

  • thank you very much

  • Hey guys, just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of the great comments. Hopefully you picked up a few little details that you can add to your game. Take care!

  • Very nice and informative. I like the way you teach. I'll try that one tonigth.

  • Awesome detail in video.. Iv just been training with a 6'5 muscle bound beast, where i had virtually given up using arm locks against him as previously he would simply power out. Finally i was able to pin his arm to the mat & get the tap!! Thanks guys keep up the good work

  • i really like the shoulder shrug.

  • Wow that was EXTREMELY informative, especially the bit about "revving the motorcycle". We work on this joint lock in Judo as well but we were never taught that motion. Which might explain why it was very difficult to make some guys tap.

One question: I don't know if it makes sense for the person on the bottom to gable grip, but say if he does gable grip, is there an effective way for breaking his grip and then getting in position for this lock?

  • Saw a guy pull this off beautifully in a MMA match about a week ago. Shocked the hell out of me.

  • more detailed looks!

  • Very Well explained!

  • i am flexible virtually everywhere, except one area, my shoulders. i was already tapping when you got the lock, before you even got the hand down to the mat.

  • do u guys think you could do this in a fight simulation where the guy your trying to submit is wresling back of trying to defend as oppose to just taking it

  • @ShroomJam yea its a sub cause it works in competition. The americana is a lower-level sub for white belts and usually this means you're not going to get somebody good with it, but it's a practical move that is few steps thats easy to attempt. Compared to a lot of more complicated moves like triangles, this is one where you immediately get to notice it in your rolling. He's taking it because it's a demonstration. i frequently screw this up, maintain side control, and then eventually get it

  • you can also do this from the mount exttremely easy to do

  • @FALLENFORFISH trying this from mount will leave you vulnerable to the sweep

  • Great detail

  • Really good details and exacly what teach but also do it a few other ways. Then about framing on the bottem, for me I would have my arm not in that position since I would be Ghosting out the bottem. Then Looking for a Darce or something from the North South Headlock position :)

  • it's such an easy submission to get in BJJ it's surprising it isn't more common in MMA.

  • good stuff

  • This is too indepth which i like awesome vid all i do is watch jiu jitsu videos and ive been training mma for 2 months. just watching these videos and going to the gym makes me better by trying new things thanks guys please keep uploading vids you all are the greatest

  • Americana? It's Ude - Garami done on Ne Waza

  • @chavamma That would be the name if it were Judo. The majority of this channel is Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

  • @KeKuHauPiOx That's all BJJ is or "GJJ" Esai Maeda tought Carlos & Helio Gracie Judo Jiu Jitsu they just "modified" aka Brazil needed a martial art other than capoeira all BJJ is is the ground technique of Judo (Ne Waza) Hence Helio Gracie was defeated by a Judoka who was Kimura from then on the family made up tons of excuses as to why he lost.

  • @chavamma I understand what you are saying. I am a Black Belt in GJJ and a san-kyu in Judo. However, it's different terminology. Like Hello in english and Hola in spanish, same thing just said differently. If you were to speak Japanese terms to a GJJ/BJJ class, you would get a lot of puzzled looks lol.

  • @KeKuHauPiOx Definitely agree with you. Funny thing is when the UFC first started Gracies only faced Olympic Judokas that disregarded their Ne-Waza which is the reason why Royce was victorious over many of them. I'm Sandan Kyokushin & Judo. Good Conversing with you Osu!

  • @KeKuHauPiOx At 22 you're already a black belt with the Gracies? congrats bro...

  • @ESCAPEDCONVICT01 Yeah. I know hard to believe but i've been taking it for almost 10 years

  • Great stuff. Thank you.

  • Curling the wrist takes a page out of the Catch Wrestling way of doing this (they call it the "top wristlock") and makes it a hell of a lot more painful for the guy on the bottom. Good addition.

  • Very nice way of setting it up. Another big key is to suck the elbow all the way into the body. It creates the right angle to put max pressure on the shoulder.

  • sweet details, thx a lot! i like the part where you use the head to help.

  • as an americana pro, i can say that all of this tech is spot on. well done. the only thing i would say is that using a full grip on his wrist is a perfectly legitimate way of going about this hold.

  • Ive been to this school. The guy on top is Foster and he is very skilled. Good school. Located on Renton wa, just south of Seattle.

  • @5:28 "He's already tapping but we're gonna go a little bit further" You know the guy on the bottom gotta be thinkin to himself "Oh Joy" lol.
