I bought this dvd and it was well worth the $20 it cost. I saw the show once in Philadelphia with a different cast of course and have wanted to see it again, mabye once a week, lol, but that is not in the cards for me. I have the movie version as well but the show is different in that the actors have real show voices and think that is needed to do justice to ALW's incredible music. If you loved the show as much as I did, you must buy this DVD. It's excellent!

@JoJy54 different? Different from what, the movie? The movie should be ignored. These costumes are pretty much the same as they always are in the stage show (at least, they're the same as the ones I've seen when I've watched the stage show). You're not supposed to see the Phantom's face during the song, the characters (Christine, Raoul, managers, etc...) aren't supposed to know that it's him until Christine feels his mask beneath the cloak towards the end of the song.

If you're thinking of the film version, then you've got it all wrong because the Phantom isn't supposed to be known to be playing as Don Juan in this scene.In fact, he even tries and imitates Piangi's voice in hopes of fooling everyone around him.

@RandomChara Hm, fooling everyone around? OK! I am not that good in music as Christine is supposed to be but I DO recognize the voices of my beloved women at once. And they (Christine, Raoul ...) expect the Phantom to appear during the show. And she has been hearing his voice for quite some time now. Isn't it ridiculous to believe she will not recognize him the moment he starts to sing? The movie has some stupidity in it but this scene was put quite well and better than that show.

@totopopos I'd also prefer when she recognizes him during this scene, also becaase it makes the song more emotional. In the film, this is probably the true culmination, since during this song Christine for these moments succumbs to her love for the Phantom, but ultimately decides she would not be with him - so that's where she makes her choice! and the whole scene looks much more seductive when the phantom is not completely covered with the cloak! imagine Ramin in the film outfit)))
