I try not to pay too much attention. The private lives of actors and actresses are often, for me, a distraction from the characters they play.
Example: Reese Witherspoon kissing Rupert Everett in "The Importance of Being Ernest". It's distracting to know his own preferences lean the other way. I'd rather not know.
Funny how all the rumors about Cruise and the coming out of Kelly McGillis add up to "Top Gun" being even more gay than previously speculated!
Your comments are astute, but it bothers me not whether I'm aware of the actor's 'real' persona, or not. As Olivier is reputed to have told an angsty Dustin Hoffman during shooting of MARATHON MAN - "It's called acting, dear boy."
I believe Sean Penn is straight (thank God, just for aesthetics' sake) but I 'BELIEVED' he was Harvey Milk in MILK. And old Rock Hudson movies are still great fun. In SECONDS, I still believe his character is the character.
I forgot Cruise was married to Mimi. Very informative video. I enjoyed it. Now, can you tell me which Hollywood stars are into B+D/S+M? LOL, just kidding.
I totally understand the "not talking about it", because not everybody feels the need to talk about it. I'm out and open, but that doesn't mean I'm all that interested in talking about it all that much. Sometimes it feels just weird. It's like heteros talking about being hetero, if you understand what I mean. Talking about natural subjects like including exes into a chat or something is one thing, but "I'm Elin, I'm pansexual, and now listen..." would be just... weird.
@hiddeninabook That's what l feel when gay people (who l prefer to call just people) talk about (gay) sexuallity, l'm not talking or make vids about my sexuallity, and how hetro l am....l never heard of a hetro pride too LOL. Ofcourse l understand awareness, and the world still needs it, but not if T.Cruise is gay or not, l don't care. Some people just wanna show off how gay they are, and l don't understand that....and NO l don't mean Michael (l thought l make that clear because it's his vid)
@ForAfewMoviesMore Being gay/pan etc. is far more than just sexuality. That's why I prefer the Norwegian words "homofil", "panfil", "bifil" etc. It is more about who you love. I find Pride (I refuse to call it gay Pride, as it's not just for gays, you are welcome to join as a hetero, pan, bi, BDSM, whatever. It's about showing diversity. I find it very important to show that there is.
The whole suject is a bit complicated, sadly, as we do live in a heteronormative world.
@hiddeninabook Isn't sexuallity not about sex AND love? Both of those make a persons sexuallity imo.....the name of pride as you like to call it is gaypride, and according to what l saw myself in Amsterdam, it's just one big show-off, almost a watch and be watched party....
@ForAfewMoviesMore Sometimes sexuallity can be just that: Sex. It is quite quite possible to have sex and not be in love with the person you're having sex with. Yes, you call it gay pride, I think it's more to it than show off. And much more than just gay. I have myself walked in the pride parade, and I'm pan (if I'm forced to put a label on myself). Once with my choir, you would probably find us a bit boring... Only, we did sing. And once, last summer, as just me. Also, it IS political Equality
@hiddeninabook l ment sexuallity in general, that's love and sex for most people. My point is what you basically said yourself: "..Sometimes it feels just weird. It's like heteros talking about being hetero, if you understand what I mean. Talking about natural subjects like including exes into a chat or something is one thing, but "I'm Elin, I'm pansexual.." By the way l really do love a choir, depends on the music and my mood :-)
@ForAfewMoviesMore Yes, SOMEtimes, not ALWAYS. It's not all black and white and uncomplicated. I could have said a while lot more, but there's only so many characters for a comment. Though heteros seldom talk about being hetero as a subject, they DO talk about it, in other ways. Often, they have comments etc that pretty much states that being hetero is the norm. A lot of times I think "that's such a hetero way to say it", but I think most heteros will not even notice. It IS a complicated subject
@hiddeninabook Hetero = the norm because the biggest % of mankind is straight, logical l think......The difference is in this "discussion" that hetero's are not complaining/need any awareness because a few small minded people bash them...l mean no need for me to make a vid "l'm hetero" LOL And do you know why? Because l don't give a flying F, and imo gay people should think the same. No need to get mad Elin, l just quoted you....l leave it at this :-)
Minorities are compelled to speak out so as not to remain invisible. But that's not the subject of my video and I've done enough political vids on this subject. I also want to leave these important issues, but ancillary to my topic, for other times.
Well, don't get me started, AGAIN, on the pomp and circumcision (I mean circumstance), of pride parades. I'm not a fan, except for the political aspect. The 'jokey' part is fingernails on the blackboard, to me, anyway. I see them as Shriners Parades with drag queens and/or dykes on bikes; a minstrel show for the hetero-normative community to make them feel good that they're hetero.
Ricky Gervais’ comments on the Golden Globes was confirmation enough otherwise they would have really sued.
