While I watched this show as a kid WAY back in the 80's (and loved every second of it), I just realized something. Isn't it just a tad creepy how Teresa is fondling Shima's CORPSE? Just sayin'.
Incompatible? Yamato is a hybrid of Earth and Iscandar tech. Earth also captured some Gamilon tech before Astra came to Mars. The WMG and the Desslok Gun are basically the same weapon.
I think the most important thing is that the Yamato is in a hurry to stop the signning of the surrender documents, so they don't have time to do it even if they are able to do it.
