@lilking150 He has, but you notice he didn't need it? That's what the smoker is for. When you smoke the bees, they think there's a fire and they rush to gobble up as much honey as they can hold. They think they're going to have to evacuate, so they tank up. This makes them very happy, but also so they can't arch their abdomen enough to sting. A properly smoked hive can be handled without a suit or veil. HOWEVER! Do NOT try that with Africanized bees. Nothing calms them down enough.

i had a bee hive pop up overnight at my house (it had probably been there for weeks but there was only 1 sign before that there may be bee hives nearby, and that was a few bees that foudn their way into my room, it was a huge mystery.)

I also remember from when I was very interested in bee keeping, that when a bee colony grows too large, it sometimes produces more than one queen, and then splits. Before this happens the bees gorge themselves with honey which almost intoxicates them. In this condition they are very docile. Perhaps for the energy needed to swarm and move to a new location, during which their prime concern is protecting the queen

Hmm, I must be getting my information from a different place. I heard honey bee populations are declining worldwide, including areas of north america where a-bees as you call them, have yet to reach... I've also heard that a-bees are cross breeding to the point where they are getting less aggresive as they move north in north america. I'm not sure how true this is, but I have read that.

In this area it was the africanized bees that caused the issues and the general decline in the bee population as ABees are not included in populated numbers because they produce such a small ammount of consumable goods and more damage. When a bee farm gets ABees they have to shut down, destroy the population and wait 1 year before starting up again to ensure the erradication of the ABees. Since the ABees situation has come under control the HoneyBee populations have started to increase again.

the smoke lowers the O2 content in the air making them lethargic and docile, they are more concerned at this point to just find another place than attack something. When smoked you can almost litteraly push your hands threw them like a beanbag seat, pick up handfuls and as long as you are smoothe and not agressive when handling them, they will be ok, stinging is a defensive mechanism, and is RARELY used for offense. Africanized bees exempt from this rule of course.

I think that the bees were taken to a bee farm, I own a farm and took care of bees, when I had 3 hives removed due to poor pollen levels in the field, they smoked them, essentially caged them all up, and reloaced them to another farm. You can buy bees also by the thousands in this area. And the honey is VERY good.

I doubt they moved the bees far--probably to local bee keepers. So the hives are still in the same area, most likely.
