  • Redlines are there for a reason. You can't just keep cruising at those revs. You should hit them, but not sustain. (i like the meatball comment someone made) Admittedly, the d and b engines can take a thrashing...to a point.

  • You try shifting when your in 2nd and 3rd at 4k rpm and all of the sudden you lose traction and rpms fly to redline. Trust me its not easy. Not a honda fan but I like any car with a GT35, haha the turbo I'll be putting in my 05 STi

  • Its wheel spinning almost every gear. I have the same turbo in my RB25/30 Skyline and it puts out 437 rwkw and with a 1.06 rear housing, it hits full boost at 4100rpm. My question is, how much lag has this Honda got ? Is the Nos there to help with eliminating turbo lag or is it for the top end ?

  • honda engines can hit rev limiter forever. it was basically what they are made for. its pointless to actually act like you know more than one of the best motor companies in the world. obviously they know what there doing. not saying i dont like american muscle. i just hate the dumbasses that drive them and act like anything less than a v8 is dumb.... esp since some of these little 4's are making the same power as v8s

  • yes i know what jdm is. my mom is japanese and i lived in tokyo for 13 years. i also owned 98 itr #217 and no it has a mph odometer. now if you go to japan, yes all itr's have a kilo odometers. so this is the real question... who the F cares enough about kilo to judge how fast he's really going. yes a nice pair of slicks would come handy. what do you recommend for tires on a 550 hp honda?

  • again watching it, waste gate is broken its having trouble holding any boost, its either a poor tune or cheap Chinese bits, maybe he bought a spoon ECU and thought yeah I have a spoon ECU, when its not even a turbo ECU/TUNE, im just throwing ideas out, im guessing this engine has since been blown& rebuilt

    a gt35/40 is huge these are only just getting into efficiency range for a heavily tuned rotary at around 600 HP that would be at 7-10PSI

    with a Rear compressor wheel AR of 1.00

    and your turbo is too big by the time it spools, you got no revs left, supercharge high reving engines, and leave the turbos to bigger engines or ones tuned for it

  • it doesnt matter wat size, but this engine Type R engines are high revving very narrow power band, turbos need time to spool, and then need to rev longer, this engine is designed for quick revving, a supercharger would have boost from idle and only enhance the cars power, pluss add more low down power which this engine doesnt have

I mean Shit i throw gears like it is my job rag my civic out and it has been running 430whp for the past 3 years now on stock bottom end stock head 61 trim turbo and s200 ecu so i think he should be fine and trust me i drive the shit out that car.

I am knee deep in these cars and if you tried to rev any b series honda motor past say 8.5k (excluding b18c), you would throw a rod, spin a bearing, in essence fuck your shit up

  • @garretts91 yea man, a couple years ago I had a 93 5 speed civic lx sedan, d15 motor. I did the 1.6 vtec head conversion and had the ecu chipped and tuned on crome...would run to 9500 rpm, vtec from 4800. I ended up getting a good deal on a b20b with fairly low km's with lsd ys1 tranny, and am currently in the process of putting it in my 92 integra. I know the b20 won't rev as high, but with the gt28 turbo and 18 psi, I'm gunna be quite happy beating up on it lol

  • @ridesoul69 Its the best going from stock d-series to a nice honda DOHC motor. Some like the b18 like revs more than its little brother the d series. Your right the b20's dont love revs as much, but their as solid as a rock, and super reliable. Funny you said that because I almost bought a 94 del sol with a b20b swap 2 weeks ago. They pull HARD. As long as you keep it non vtec like its suppose to be, you should have yourself a sick turbo car. Thx for story man.

  • @l091805772 i had a d16y7 that took y8's all day. Just an intake, exhaust, y8 intake mani any tranny. The vtec motor is designed for vtec and its just an simple pressure solenoid oil system that runs it. I don't think it does any harm that non vtec wouldn't.

  • Vtec needs to engage earlier 4500 the highest. Didn't sound like nitrous but if that was nitrous coming in at the end it needs to be progressive. Or at least 50 shot then another 50. Regardless the car is moving nicely. Sounds like 400whp+

  • Roll races to me are fucking stupid. Race from a dig that is where the real skill is in the launch. Because the point of the race is to test the drivers too not just smash the gas and see who wins. I don't car if they have FWD and I have AWD a race is a race if I beat them from a dig I will win from a roll too. And I always do a roll race makes virtually no difference.

You clearly don't know much about racing.

  • VTEC itself has nothing to do with spooling this turbo jhockett88, its simply his displacement. Under 3.0 litires, and it will take up to 4600rpms to reach the maximum pressure he needs efficiently. VTEC only appears like it it will help due to the efficiency of the VTEC head design.

I was spinning my street tires till 125 (didnt even go to 5th gear) pounding off the rev limiter because with 450whp or so in a 2k lb car you have really no choice. haha quick civic man
