@EligeogTV No they are NOT easy to look after unless you have about four hours a week for grooming. They are very sweet dogs though so if you are dedicated to the grooming go for it. Otherwise, no. Mine ate about four cups of quality dog food a day as an adult. Twice a day feeding plus vitamins and extra treats. Her favorite food in the whole world was oranges and she turned up her nose at meat. lol..a natural veggie girl she was.
@ElvisLivesUpstairs They can see plenty! LOL! Enough to find whatever they want to find. Sometimes people who own them do pin up their fur on top with a little elastic band. Mine always came back from the groomer with a tiny bow in her hair and a pony tail sticking up on top which I promptly removed as she looked so humilated at me with that in there.
@itssailyduh1 They don't shed hair in the same way Labradors & Retrievers do - those fine straight hairs that get everywhere? My dog sheds very little, small balls of fluff when she is very long-coated. I clip my dog right down about 2 times a year (spring & summer) otherwise she's too hot and can't sleep. To groom, you just need to run your fingers through their fur (which they LOVE) and make sure there are no knots. Combing and brushing makes the fur frizzy and more prone to knotting.
Hi! I live in Brazil and have an OES. It's a very sweet dog - just like a small, cute, gentle dog in the body of a big bud! But you have to be very patient when they are small. They care about not stepping on their dirty only when they get older!!!! (at least, it was with mine). and they tend to cry a lot when they are puppies. At home we have a boxer (sheds much more hair than the OES. incomparable!) and a golden retriever (lots of hair).
This film really made me laugh and brought back so many god memories. They are amazing dogs. It´s now 18 years ago since my old english dog died nearly thirteens years old. I´ve had two old english, they are so very specell.
@ndrssz - In England they would cost around £700. It's not the buying though, it's the ongoing running costs. Their food, grooming, vets bills and so on. Not cheap.
Since 1981 I have had three of these, and have never had an aggressive one. On the contrary, they have been devoted and loving and no trouble. I wouldn't have any other breed - they are fabulous!
@Fenellaribena Mine was a fabulous dog too! Fantastic with my son when he was little. I still miss her. Cardiomyopathy took her. If you are thinking of getting one just the SURE you are dedicated to the grooming, they don't deserve to be given up due to people issues with their requirements. They are wonderful!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your dog so precious absolutely precious. I want a dog similiar to a dog I had groeing up, he looked like a small version of your dog, he was poodle and terrerier but his marking were very close accept he had black circles around his eyes. I have been doing allot of research on your dogs breed and it would be so perfect for me. Thanks for sharing your video!
I have had OES dogs for many years. I have one now and he is adorable. He was 2 years old in July,Buy from a reliable breeder and NOT a pet store!Go the AKC website and click on breeds and that will lead you too the parent club of the OES
Are they easy to look after and how much food per day do they require?
