The fairtax is not about how government spends that is left for politicians to debate in other bills. The fairtax addresses and fixes those problems created though how we collect taxes.
While people will debate the merits or problems with government spending we need not continue to punish domestic productivity by taxing it.
I'm so tired of ppl who feel that is the united states job to be the well fare nation and just give away money to support other nations when we can't even run our own finances. I'm all for helping out in a natural disaster but the U.S needs to mind it's own business and worry about the ppl living on the streets and mothers having to prostitute themselves just to put food on the table.
Fair Tax is revenue neutral. We would collect the same taxes either way. This question of worldwide poverty is a separate question outside of the scope of the discussion.
Although, if you want to, you are still free to spend your money helping out whomever you choose.
exactly the u.s needs to worry about the u.s yeah it's sad that their are ppl living on less than one dollar but the u.s is not god's gift to the world and the u.s should have a fund to help out in natural disasters but thats it. The American ppl should decide if the want to give their money to help out other countries themselves. I totally agree w. u
Fairtax groupies say taxing the government is no big deal, cause "its a wash". If the military would pay 500 billion in taxes, no big deal. Its a wash. They give it to themselves, so its nothing at all. No - they have to GET the money to PAY the money. Their purchases will COST more cause of the TAX on the products.
If that would work -- why not just have the government pay ALL the taxes -- its a wash, right?
At first, when you start realizing the truth about fair tax, you go, that cant be?!! Surely they wouldnt do something that would tax nursing home patients 1000 a month sales tax. Surely they dont expect to tax cancer surgeris, hip replacements, kidney dialysis! Surely they cant expect to tax the military on all the stuff it buys - how would the military pay that? But thats what they are doing. Ask them.
His economics is NONSENSE. Dont believe it. For example, this tax is on nursing home patients, surgery patients. Also, incredibly - the governemtn becomes "a major taxpayer itself". Page 148. The military and all gov agencies will pay the sales tax. Can you see the military paying 10 million tax on a jet? NO, of course not. The air force would have to raise another 10 million per jet to pay it. SO the 23% would have to go up.
it is the role of gov to establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty. thats all folks. thank you and good night.
Israel receives more economic aid then all other countrys combined from the united states..right now we also rent the federal reserve note at the tone of 30million a hour ..we could print our own money free of charge and help poverty without becoming so impoverished.whats happening right now is factorys are being sold off ..our national parks now belong to the UN no lie.your nation is legaly being sold off liquidated and i feel helpless..and ANGRY!
I've heard some interesting studies that show that our federal aid often benefits corrupt regimes more than it benefits the people of those nations. It makes me wonder if the US donating billions of dollars to third world countries is a futile endeavor.
Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has taken to calling himself a "fiscal conservative," but who ever heard of a fiscal conservative who raised taxes and spending through the roof while governor of Arkansas? Mike Huckabee is also calling himself "a different kind of Republican," but that's just a codeword for a big-government Republican who wants to cover up his tax-and-spend record with folksy talking points and one-liners. Sorry Tax Hike Mike. No dice. taxhikemike org
Plus, consider how the CIA has a history of going in posing a "peacekeepers" and basically upsetting the governmental balance of nations so we can keep them in chaos and steal their natural wealth.
Why compromise? End the IRS AND income tax altogether and vote Ron Paul.
You want to have control over your national wealth? DON'T SEND IT TO WASHINGTON, STUPID! Of COURSE they're going to misspend it! And you want poor countries to have aid? That can be done without first sending our money to the Federal government!
I agree, and even the fair tax will have problems as the government would have to hire more people to enforce purchase of goods here instaed of buying things in mexico or smuggling it in etc.
Helping the poor is an honorable choice but imo, it should NOT be a government program or mandate. Any money spent by the government will be placed in the hands of the bureaucrats...which ultimately will lead to corruption.
The ONLY way to eliminate misuse of funds is the allow individual citizens the FREEDOM to have all their money taxed "fairly" through consumption. The significant excess provided by the Fair Tax will enable people to invest more into their chosen, favored charities. That is the essence of the Fair Tax system....
It will also eliminate the paying of ZERO taxes right now by illegal immigrants, shady corporations, and people that deal with cash-only that never report income. PROBLEM SOLVED...Support the Fair Tax. Support Smaller Government. Support Federalism. patriotpost . us Veritas Vos Liberabit! =)
We as Americans tend to believe that if I have a plasma TV everyone should have one. Materialism should not even be remotely included in our assessment of world poverty. There is no comparison of economies. To do so is arrogant and problematic. I have been around the world and seen it first hand. Have you?
Yes, I have. And I think your comment is arrogant and condescending to suggest that by 'ending poverty' I am suggesting 'spread materialism'. I am a proponent of basic education for every child, especially girls, who are most often not allowed; clean water for all; reform of our farming laws; improvement in maternal health and a lowering of maternal and infant mortality rates- shall I continue? Plasma tv's?
Our world is complex and varied. Each culture possesses different realities than the one we have here in America. I am just as companionate toward the impoverished as anyone else. But, I know that I have been to places in this world where America views them as poverty stricken when in all actuality they are living well and within their means based on their own economy.
Your comment regarding poverty is somewhat well thought out. The only problem with "removing" word poverty is that you are basing your assumptions on current American economy. You have to understand that the population of any country that has a different type of economy may very well survive just fine on $1.00 a day. It's their cost of living based on their own culture and economy.
No, they don't. I visited villages in Ghana where people try to survive on $1 a day. They have no potable water, no schools, no industry, and no prospects for change.
Dude... I totally respect your passion for the Third World... however, is something as important as developing the world something you would want to leave to Government?
I encourage you to continue to get the message out about these issues... however, i would encourage doing this privately. i have seen the wonderful good done by private citizens to address your concerns... keep up the good fight!
Private citizens have been invaluable. The Gates Foundation funds the One Campaign in large part on its own. And yes, gov't has been bad at this in the past (especially recently), but the only way to marshall the economic force needed is for all G8 nations to live up to their promises, guided by civilian ngo's. Thanks for your feedback.
One o the coolest experiances n my life was visiting orchards in the Tanzanian Rukwa calley which ere put in place to diversify the economy and diet of its citizens. Anyway that we can better the loves of others in an affirming and practive way should be encouraged.
Very well spoken and honest response which is very refreshing here at youtube. May I invite you to watch "Freedom to Fascism" at google video for more information on taxes. Thank you for your consideration:)
you're hitting on a touchy subject there. On one hand, you have people that say that the US should stop meddling in other countries affairs, and say that our meddling in the Middle East is the reason for the terrorist plots. On the other hand, there are groups that want to jump in and help everyone whether asked or not, simply because they believe it is the right thing to do.
There's a difference between political meddling and humanitarian aid. Groups that have been conducting aid work for a long time know the importance of working within each community's norms and social rules. When children are dying from preventable diseases, politics should go right out the window. And for those being helped, it does.
"When children are dying from preventable diseases, politics should go right out the window."
That's the problem, politicians won't let it be a non-political issue. Politicians want to have some kind of control over every facet of life. One party or the other thinks that they have to take credit for helping someone solely for political gain.
That's why ONE is working with Americans from every political, ideological, religious, professional, social, and every other stripe. If everyone gains politically, then everyone will vote to raise the funding level. Let them have political gain if it's the same for all. Rising tide raises all boats.

Fairtax morons say "just buy used stuff to avoid the tax".
Ever buy used gasoline ? Used utlities? Ever buy insurance premiums?
Ever buy used rent? Hey moron, all those things get the highest sales tax in the world.
Yes -- car insurance, taxed, life insurance, taxed, home owners insurance, taxed.
Rent taxed.
Hey morons, how do you get used cancer surgery? Used nursing home care? Cause all medical cost is taxed.
You can't get dumber than the fairtax and still exhale.
