During a housesit in the mid-eighties I came across albums by Carmen, Ella and Sarah. I knew of Ella, but not the other two. How rich I feel nowadays to know this fabulous music!
Nothing short of wonderful. Sarah, Ella and Aretha.. You cant get better. I dedicate this Album to my daughters.. I bought it in 1988.. they were born a year later.. twins.. whos the man
Ever since a, now deceased, kindly radio presenter played this on BBC Radio 3 back in the late 80s (RIP Humphrey Littleton) as I was just teaching myself jazz, it never left me.
She is the touchstone for richness and beauty on this song. i have listened to other who have done this and they are far and away second. Her voice is so rich and soothing and beautiful. Such a match for this beautiful song! She sounds as beautiful as when I first heard her years ago.
I agree with all the comments. This beautiful voice will live forever as long as we keep and protect the music from not being lost. Now this is music, along with the the Classics. Forget that junk out there now. Sarah is singing with the Angels.
I read in a biography that Sarah wasn't very happy with this album. I have most of Sarah's albums and this is one of my favorites. I'm so glad she did this the songs are lovely.
WONDERFUL!

A voice so rich with color and texture--it is almost too much for one to absorb at once. Thanks for this post.

This is my favorite "Sassy" vocal album. Her voice lowered and became as rich as velvet. We have no artist to replace her but could we? I think not.
