This is synchronicity. I am experiencing pain and being told to bless it as it is a teacher & it will change my life. This is a confirmation to see this video I am creating my suffering the fear of pain or the fear of seeing flashbacks. I never want to blame the abuse I allowed to happen (even as toddler) as I thought I deserved it. I am trying to grasp that I can free myself from the chains of suffering. I feel no anger to the attackers as I feel for the burden the carry. I perplex my therapist
He's saying that thinking about it only makes it worse. If needed, of course you see a doctor. But once the healing process has begun, if possible, just go about normal, everyday activities. Do what you are capable, and don't baby your pain unless told to by your doctor. Besides, he used all examples of mental pain. So, really? He's just saying not to worry.

Obviously you have never suffered a chronic pain condition. Suffering is feeling that pain every second of every minute of every day and knowing that it will be there the next second, moment, day, year, 10 years, probably for the rest of your life. That, my friend, is suffering.
@missanna208 I think you're actually supporting his statement in the video. Suffering is a perception that we form of pain and it also forms the reality that we experience from it. If we focus on how much we're suffering from the pain rather than breaking through our own wallowing and self-pity to find the lesson contained in that pain then we are, ultimately, the creators of our own chronic conditions. I'm speaking from the position of somebody who did suffer for a period of time from a chronic
@missanna208 ... condition. I eventually found healing and relief when I came to that understanding about pain and suffering. If I had spent all those years focusing on what the doctors told me about never recovering from my condition rather than believing that a miracle could happen that would cure my ailment then I wouldn't have recovered and found all the fulfillment from that experience alone. :) Also, thank you so much, Journik, for all these incredibly informative videos!
ive been using this same type of thought and now i twist my ankle, which happens alot, and it doesnt hurt any more even when it twists worse than before
Hmmmm My toe challenged me today with change when I stubbed it on the coffee table...It is now purple and throbing with "challenges" which have followed me into the "present moment". It is comforting to know that I am responsible for the suffering I am feeling. Boy I must need to work on my own induced suffering......cause right now I feel like screaming cuss words at the top of my lungs.......
I'd say it's true heart break. I can't think of anything else that damages you horribly without any physical interaction and isn't inflicted upon yourself by your own mind.
This makes sense only in that 'suffering' is induced by your own thoughts after you've had some kind of physical pain. But physical pain, and applying this purely to physical pain doesn't work. Babies don't feel pain as they change and grow. They don't 'suffer' through the growth process. Children learn to suffer once the concept of 'change is bad' has been introduced to them. It seems like 2 separate issues to me. Would you explain this further?
Great video and your so handsome. God Bless!

can we have equivocation on the English word "suffering?"
IOW, can suffering just be the result of intense pain? Can this suffering primarily be about nerve endings (in the moment)?
Side question (journik). Do you have many religious people in your family?
Are their any South Koreans who claim that they pray for you or people in your family who you would consider extremely religious?

If you kill a devil, you have to sacrifice an angel.
Fear, pain... accept it. Love, satisfaction... accept it.
one is worthless without the other.

I'm taking a shot in the dark here but I think he is trying to get at the fact people don't live in the present
Such as if your holding a hot cup of coffee
It's not painful, it is only discomfort, seeing as you know for a fact when you put that mug down it will no longer be 'painful'
You could put that mug down at anytime and make the "pain" go away. Your mind knows this to be true.
You only get "pain" from the want to put it down, if you dont pay attention to how hot it is you wont feel pain

Maybe children start to suffer as soon as the seperate identity comes into play.

So does it follow that the Minds ability to cope with suffering is further strengthend the more the mind suffers.
