Great story - got hold of the book from Australia "the Other Half of Half Safe" a great read and excellent story. Very tough journey, never to be repeated I think...

At my suggestion, two of my Tokyo friends visited the Half-Safe in Perth last year, and took pictures of themselves posing in front of it.

It brought back memories of my 4 months on the monster...May 3 to Sept 3, 1957, the time it took us to go from Tokyo to Anchorage.

excellent..just bought an old 1960s large plastic battery operated model of Half Safe, with the original WW2 front, rather than the rebuilt pointed boat type front..posting video of it soon.
