I think you should be grateful that you have a FEMA trailer. Some drops are better than being outside in the rain. You could have been like those people in Pakistan, wading knee high in water with no where to go but more water and mud. I mean, you have a TV in there. Because the house was rendered UNINHABITABLE by the city and until it was totally gutted and remodelled, my family needed a place to stay. Thank you. At least SOME people understand other peoples misfortunes. We lost EVERYTHING, baby pictures, my kids drawings from their baby days, my wedding dress, it was hell, then trying to get a reputable contractor to remodel the place when a million other people need contractors as well...it was just the worst time of our lives, but we finally bounced back.
Get some Tarp and place it on your roof This would fix the problem At leats help The Fema trailer is ment for a temp situation and even now in 2008 people are still using it thats 3 years of use ..
Thank God we are in our home as of Dec 31, 2007 and they came and picked up the FEMA trailer in February, so we no longer have to deal with it. But now my husband and I have breathing difficulties because of all the formaldehyde in there.

And just so you know, we have moved back into our home, and the FEMA trailers that people were living in have all been destroyed because they are UNFIT for people to live in.

I myself am from Poland and grew up VERY poor. I've gone days with no food, and I've also been homeless. I wasn't complaining at all about my FEMA trailer, I was complaining about the MAINTENANCE part of it. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be woken up at night by water dripping on your face from the light above your head. That could have started a fire as well. Maintenance NEVER fixed it and we kept calling them for 2 years until they took the trailer away.
I went to New Orleans and met some people and looked around. That in no way compares to what you people have gone through. Sorry about all those problems. I'm just saying, be greatful for what you did get and not bitter for the rest of it.
A lot of people just became homeless from tornatoes. They can't get a home/travel trailer because of the complaints from Katrina. Now they have to stay in shelters/tents. Wouldn't you rather be in the trailer than a shelter/tent all this time?

Because the house was rendered UNINHABITABLE by the city and until it was totally gutted and remodelled, my family needed a place to stay. Why don't YOU flood your house with sewage water and then live in it with all the mold and disease before you start riding MY ass about having to live in a FEMA trailer on a temporary basis?

you got a free place to live.. what r u complaining about.. I have to pay rent where i live... if something leaks I have to pay to get it fixed.
The fine people of N O should have thought about these things before they lived in a city that was under sea level. Maybe you should have insured your house. If you live in CA you insure your house with earth quake protection otherwise you lose your right to complain when you lose your house to one.
Time to get a job like everyone else now.

FYI, my house IS insured, I HAVE a job and so does my husband, and my house wasnt' LOST, it was undergoing renovations, and that is why we had to live in a FEMA trailer.

Thank you. At least SOME people understand other peoples misfortunes. We lost EVERYTHING, baby pictures, my kids drawings from their baby days, my wedding dress, it was hell, then trying to get a reputable contractor to remodel the place when a million other people need contractors as well...it was just the worst time of our lives, but we finally bounced back.

Thank God we are in our home as of Dec 31, 2007 and they came and picked up the FEMA trailer in February, so we no longer have to deal with it. But now my husband and I have breathing difficulties because of all the formaldehyde in there.

You can't depend on the government! This is so typical of government programs... they always screw it up! The more government does, the worse we have it! (Remember this next time you hear a politician promise you something.) They should give the money back to the people who actually care about their friends, family and neighbors, and let them do these things.
Sorry you guys had to go through all this on account of the uncaring bureaucrats at FEMA!

Tell me about it. Did you also know that for every application the big guys processed for the road home program, they got paid $80,000 for EACH of them? Why the hell did they get all that money, and the people of New Orleans did NOT? Politics. It's all about politics and the rich getting richer, and the citizens getting SCREWED. We also got ripped off by TWO contractors, which cost us close to $50,000 and the contractor fraud task force CAN'T HELP US. So what are they here for?

I wish I had a free home, free electric, free gas, no homeowner's insurance, and probably free food to go with it all. Call me old fashioned but, I work for everything I get and I don't have my hand out saying someone owes me something.

You know, you should really get all your facts before being critical. My husband and I are SICK because as I'm sure you've heard, FEMA has formaldehyde in all of their trailers making people sick. And NOTHING we got is free. Who told you we get free electric, gas and water? We ARE fixing it ourselves because the contractors we hired DID steal our money. No home owners insurance? I don't know where you get off assuming we have it all free.

You are welcome to come and take MY fema trailer, no hot water, leaking door and light. A total fire hazard. Live in it for 3years like that, and see how grateful YOU are afterwards. You know NOTHING about my family, and how hard we have worked to get back into our home. And when it's freezing outside, I'd love to see you catch some sleep in a trailer with no HEAT.

That was totally unnecessary of you. We have lost our home and everyting in it due to hurricane Katrina, and it's still not finished. I'm trying to do my best in the FEMA trailer, but as you can see, it's a little difficult.

And just so you know, we have moved back into our home, and the FEMA trailers that people were living in have all been destroyed because they are UNFIT for people to live in.

And how the hell do you know that we've had this trailer for 3 years? Do you know how many MONTHS it took for the people here to get their trailers, half of them lived in TENTS for months.

I myself am from Poland and grew up VERY poor. I've gone days with no food, and I've also been homeless. I wasn't complaining at all about my FEMA trailer, I was complaining about the MAINTENANCE part of it. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be woken up at night by water dripping on your face from the light above your head. That could have started a fire as well. Maintenance NEVER fixed it and we kept calling them for 2 years until they took the trailer away.

I went to New Orleans and met some people and looked around. That in no way compares to what you people have gone through. Sorry about all those problems. I'm just saying, be greatful for what you did get and not bitter for the rest of it.

A lot of people just became homeless from tornatoes. They can't get a home/travel trailer because of the complaints from Katrina. Now they have to stay in shelters/tents. Wouldn't you rather be in the trailer than a shelter/tent all this time?
