It is not only females coming forward that they were raped and sexually assaulted in the military but men too are coming forward. Some of the victims of rape and sexual assault in the military have taken their own lives due to what their command put them through. I myself can say that I was threatened with court martial if I continued to try to prosecute my perps. How would you feel if your sister or daughter joined the military and was raped and/or sexually assaulted?!?
Also, the man up there lost his daughter due to her being raped. Rape and sexual assault in the military most often does get swept under the rug. Not always and not all commanders are corrupt. The lawsuit has nothing to do with monetary damages. The lawsuit is in hopes that the military changes the way they handle these types of cases. It's because of most people's ignorance to these kinds of things that perps get away with and think their actions are okay.
